Preview 2017 First Elimination Final Ports vs West Coast Eagles, AKA The Perth Stadium Penguins

I would rather poke my eyes out with a fork than play the Crows in a Grand Final. Any other final would be fine, but a GF would be something else. Imagine their smuggery if they somehow managed to get up. It would be a horrible 2018...

But then, just imagine when we win ;)
And no matter what happens post grand final, they'll always have that to cling onto until we get one back on them. We could win the next 100 premierships but they'll still have thay. Don't get me wrong, I'll take the 100 premierships but I don't like that they'll have that over us. :p

It does have a feeling that Ports is a little irrelevant this finals campaign, hopefully we can overcome a West Coast outfit which will be chomping at the bit to knock us off here again. All the talk seems to be Crows/Sydney and Richmond/Geelong. If we can overcome West Coat it could be shades of 2014 but our lack of cred is probably justified.

Id happily lose GF to them if it meant we went on to win 3 in a row tbh.

Anything less than a semi final berth would be a failure for 2017. Of course i'd like more, but i'd be happy to take an elimination final win as a bare minimum and then anything from there would be a bonus.

I feel any team that can survive the first week of finals is a chance for a premiership.

We should win this game and actually win quite well. We've had a very up and down season but our best has been far superior to the Eagles in my opinion. We really should be 2 and 0 against them this year, the first time we played them was one of the more bizarre games I've witnessed, if you looked at the stats without the score you would've thought we'd won by 10 goals or more but we lost.

Despite getting one back at the Eagles later this year, i still feel like we owe these guys for what they've done to us on our home turf. 3 times they've beaten us narrowly. 2 times it completely rattled us to the point we never recovered.

Of course i'd take a 1 point win, but what i really want is to absolutely obliterate them. I'm not normally one to make big pre game predictions, but i'm feeling positive about this one, so...... Port by 53points

If i was Ken id be pumping the f out of Jacksons tyres right now. Kennedy is not as mobile as people think. He uses his brain. Jackson can take him with confidence. Jackson in for a last crack at the first real AFL club he feels for. Kennedy will be make or break of this game. My opinion.

It's a strange thing for us West Coast fans having resigned ourselves to not playing finals this year. But now we are in the finals (and not to be a smartarse) I'm not so sure I'd want to be playing us. Just a feeling I have. Rank underdogs with nothing to lose, multiple retiring Brownlow medallists, a heart and soul journeyman having an outstanding season in Petrie and a small forward sitting second on our all time goal kicking in Lecras who might also be in his last game.

I don't think these guys are going to leave much in the tank, also the break couldn't be timed better for us. Not to mention any team with Kennedy at FF and McGovern/Yeo setting up shop at CHB clunking marks left right and centre is dangerous.

You should write an essay: Whats good about West Coast's team of football players

....also the break couldn't be timed better for us....

It will be interesting to see the effect the bye has on us. Theoretically as the team whose last bye was the longest time ago, it should benefit us the most by far. However having only just won 3 in a row for the first time all year, we would hope our building momentum isnt stunted.

Robbie has also been comfortably beaten by Sheppard as a small forward in the past so I'd play him up forward

Robbie did alright as a small forward against the Eagles in our second meeting at Subi. I think the earlier game where he barely touched it might have been during that time when Robbie "wasn't injured" ;)
