Alrighty, just did a quick check.

Brodie
Brooksby
Hallahan
MacPherson
Rischatelli
Scheer
Spencer

...Should be eligible to return & play in next week's final v Swans.

So we should field something close to this...

B. Scrimshaw, Spencer, Willis
HB. Shaw, Leslie, Davis
C. Schoenfeld, Brodie, Rischatelli
HF. Scheer, Grant, MacPherson
F. Heron (A), Crossley (A), Scott (A)

R. Brooksby, Lonergan, Hallahan

Int: Foster (A), Boakeye (A), Dawson (A), Davidson (A)
Lonergan, Leslie - ineligible as I understand - could only play yesterday because seniors were also playing.
But you missed Trent Mackenzie who can fill the Leslie role ...
Should have 14 listed players - more if any of Nicholls, Currie or Loersch can play.

This only applies if our seniors are out. The only restriction that will apply next week is the 22 that played against Carlton yesterday will not be eligible

So this means that Naismith who hasn't played NEAFL all year should be okay to play against your team.

I expect 20 listed players to front up. Could be 19 since Florent came off injured in the last NEAFL game but had no mentioned in the injury report.
Don't teams have be playing in same fixture/round ? Your senior team has a bye this fixture so it reverts to rules of qualification for NEAFL finals.
If Naismth not played 5 NEAFL not eligible..?

16.2 (e)

A primary or rookie listed AFL player is eligible to play in the Competition finals series Match where there is a bye/week off in the AFL competition provided he has not played in an AFL team in the week prior to the Competition Finals match, irrespective of whether or not he has played in a Competition Match that season.

Yeah I didn't realise what it meant for you guys. Means guys like MacPherson Brodie Scheer who would probably have played now can't play.
Hope thats not the case. 16.2 e shouldnt apply because our season is over - so the usual eligability rules apply for us.?.
But agree you get access to a bloke like Naismith !

So does this weekend count as a bye round for us as well as Sydney?

I'm hearing not , so a guy like Naismith who hasnt played a game of NEAFL can play this week , Flawed . If i'm reading it right if Buddy Frankjlin didnt play last week because of injury he could play this week , but 18yo Jack Bowes cant , what a ****ed up system.

Getting stroppy about some of the comments.

As an AFL club the primary reason we have a NEAFL team is to prepare our players to play AFL football.

If the Swans need to give players a game in the NEAFL to prepare them for an AFL game next week, good. Good twice over. Giving Naismith a game is why the NEAFL exists in this form in the first place. If we made finals in both, would expect to be given the same opportunity.

The Suns players are in a different category. We are not preparing them for an AFL game next week. The Swans have a reason to give AFL level players a game and we don't......although not sure how many AFL standard players we actually have.

The thing I want to know more than what happens in the NEAFL game is what players from the senior team are flying down to Sydney to watch their teammates play.

I would hope it is 100% everyone (excluding Gaz because 1) it would create a media circus and 2) if you have checked out don't turn up)).

If it isn't everyone then that is even better as it would show the players that are truly 'ride or die' Suns.

Looks like our interpretation of the eligibility rules is incorrect and you will get 6 players back for this game

16.2 (e) must only apply to players who didn't meet the main eligibility criteria. Players such as Naismith.

I'm lost. Can Brodie play grimlock? I'm moving into the suns cheer squad now Libba has headed back over to play his vietnam games. Like the cut of Brodie's jib! Cheers

Sydney 21 listed players - Suns 17 .
Swans have 5 players that have played AFL finals.
No wonder they have no problem with us playing Bowes , Lonergan and Leslie.
They have Cunningham and Naismith playing ( 2 Neafl games total this year.)

Hoping our blokes can win this and end their arrogance....
