I love this as a reason why the venture won't work without Port.

About 10 years ago I was told an interesting story that showed the mentality of the Chinese. A businessman had grown his retail stores from 1 to 11 over a decade or so. All were doing well except for the original store that was losing money. Someone asked him why don't you cut your losses and sell the store losing money. The businessman said he couldn't do that, because the original store was where he started his business and without that, he would not have the other 10 successful stores.

A fake story about one dumb but lucky Chinese businessman, with a poor grasp of logic, must mean all 1billion chinese people think the same way. There's no such thing as individuality in china.

It appears as though the away strip between these 2 clubs is the same as the home game...

In 2014 Port were a respected club in the AFL, after being a basketcase in 2012. This was on the back of honest hard work which lead to onfield results.

Since then they have let Kochie sidetrack the club and dragged them back to 2012 levels of ridicule and now seems the AFL have stooged them into this venture.

I bet few Tealsters will call him out on these lies. Afterall look what happens to Scientologists when they call Tom Cruise.

Koch gets a lot of credit, but it was just his celebrity plus the Adelaide Oval timing which did it for them.

If they'd got Grant Denver to be Chairman, it would have the same result. People just got glamored by Kochie and gave the club money and respect as a result. Funny thing is now, he's making a dick of himself and people will start to back away.

Damage control from the Port Power PR Bigfooty Poster

Concur.
Let's turn things around and consider the following fictitious scenario.
For 200 years in China they have been playing a football code called Chopsticks Rules. It's played in 25 of the 29 provinces including Taiwan. An Aussie entrepreneur sees a game, loves it, decides to bring Chopsticks Rules to Australia as his gift to his homeland. An MoU is signed, witnessed by President Xi Jinping, to play a match of Chopsticks premiership points on Adelaide Oval. The two clubs flown down for the game are the Shenzhen Sherrins and the Shanghai Shylocks. The Sherrins, who have been in existence for six years, run out wearing green and gold and koala hats. The Shylocks run out wearing the black and white they've worn in China for 200 years and panda hats.
Which of the two teams do you reckon will be adjudged more fair dinkum?

They can breathe easy now, Mr Bigshot has some spin to soothe them.

My favourite part is "An Aussie entrepreneur sees a game, loves it, decides to bring Chopsticks Rules to Australia as his gift to his homeland." which implies they now believe this was all Mr. Gui's idea after he saw them sing INXS.

I'd also like to know if in his scenario, he thinks after seeing this game of chopsticks rules, he thinks the state of SA will all buy memberships for this fair dinkum team and then buy tickets to go visit the town where they came from.

I am still trying to figure out which club has worn the same colours for 200 years?

Magpies only adopted the Black and White in 1902.
Then the Power jumper in 1997. Countless jumpers since then.

He's saying that like GC purposely changed their colours to try and win over China. And really, would anyone know enough or even care that the Suns have only been around for 6 years?
China won't give a shit just like they don't give a shit about Port which was the smartest thing Mr Koch has said on this subject.

Australia's No 1 Chinese destination - tick
Gold Coast same colours as China- tick
Port are nobodies- tick

Wait and see.
Ha ha, yesterday you were banking on there being an agreement and this was all for show. Now Gold Coast have said there wasn't one and it's not your call who you play in China. This on the same day they parade their jumper in China. Now this has government backing, who do you think they will want Port to play in China?

Face it, you guys have been played and are once again the poor cousins.

Travis Auld said in his interview on 5AA that there is an agreement between both clubs and that the AFL doesn't get involved in that. You think he's talking out of his butt?

It's all a setup, just like when Eddie McGuire makes a song and dance about us wearing the prison bars in heritage round - which we've always managed to do.

You know we control the match day setup right? That at the ground it's considered our home game? No matter what the AFL says in the fixture about a Gold Coast home game, it will be Port Adelaide membership tents, the Game Day village, Port Adelaide branding, Port Adelaide getting all the revenue from advertising, NTUA etc.

We also control messaging in the Chinese broadcast since we are the ones who signed the initial contract with CCTV. Everything in China is about promoting Port Adelaide. Why do you think Sally Zou from AusGold decided to sponsor us after seeing a game broadcast in China?

So I wouldn't worry about us being 'played'.

The most pathetic useless rabble of an AFL club is making you, and particularly Kochie, look like amateurs.

Great strategy
