Pretty much all mistakes by our development and recruitment departments. Considering some of the spud deluxe players still on our list.

How do you mean? Roberton was offered a contract, what more could our recruiting and development department have done?

Menegola was rightfully delisted in my eyes, it took his (second) delisting for him to become the player he is now.

Let's not forget that he wasn't drafted after being delisted by us and when he was, it wasn't until a pick in the 60s.

I don't mean to fill the Peel thread with this now that there is a Menegola thread so maybe take your response there.

Interesting though that Simon Lloyd was the development coach when Menegola was at Fremantle and now he is one of the coaches at Geelong.

That was the longest last quarter in history I reckon and Peel were spent after coming from behind. How they couldn't save the game with 30 seconds on the clock was embarrassing. Great games by Darcy, Stranadica, Duman, Logue and Nyhuis. Sheridan was BOG if you go off the stats only.

For those at the game how was Liam Baker? Bit surprised he wasn't drafted last year (assume because he is only 176cm) and he sounded influential for a youngster via the commentary. Pretty sure he's from Lake Grace and also went to Aquinas. Pity about the height because he ticks pretty much every other box - I'd probably still have taken a gamble on him as a small forward.

Was he the same small forward who played in the state game? He was good.

Apparently Logue played poorly and is a wasted draft pick

Sheridan named BOG by Peel, nobody here even mentions him. The joy of being a whipping boy.
I was not overly impressed by Sheridan today - not a bad game but not dominant by a long stretch. He tends to float around the half back line and picks up a bunch of possession but I don't (and never have) consider him a damaging player. Suban was almost invisible, and Danyle Pearce got a fair bit of it like Sheridan, but again was not particularly damaging. He still manages to kick some horrible flour bag punts even at WAFL level. Zac Dawson looked lost for most of the game. I would hope that these four guys don't play for Freo again this season barring a large number of injuries to best 22 players.

For me the most exciting player for us was Sean Darcy. Dominated the ruck and tapped the ball to some great positions. Unfortunately the Subiaco mids got on top at times and moved it out of the clearances too easily, but Darcy's follow up work and second efforts were great. He burst through a pack at pace in one passage of play and gave us a glimplse of what he will become in a couple of years' time.

Josh DeLuca was also very impressive, and he is one player that has great pace around clearances and makes things happen. He probably needs a few more games, but would not be surprised to see him play for Freo before the year is out. I took my young nephew along to the game and he was calling DeLuca Brady Grey 2.

Duman is very slight but lacks nothing in the way of courage. He is a very smart user of the ball and I think he will be a good player with a full pre-season or two under his belt.

Nyhuis played on Liam Ryan and kept him very quiet most of the game. He took a couple of poor options with his kicking which is unlike him.

Griffin Logue is still learning his craft, did some nice things but also get beaten one on one too easily at times.

Brennan Cox was a bit disappointing for me today after his last break out game. Thought he was pretty ordinary, but has the size and the tricks to be a good player for us, so not too concerned.

Sam Collins didn't have his best game either. Wasn't bad, but didn't look as assured as I have seen him in other games. Overall I thought the defense was OK considering they were up against a really good team in Subi, so it's hard to be too critical of individuals.

Strnadica was an interesting one for me. He went really well in the ruck and took some strong marks around the ground. He looks the most likely of any of the rucks to develop into a mobile marking ruckman which is strange considering he is so slow. He just looks like he needs to work really hard on his fitness and running ability - maybe a bit like Dean Cox when he first arrived at the Eagles. Fingers crossed he gets to anywhere near Cox's level.

Saw Matthew Uebergang on the way out of the ground and he said he is hopeful of getting back to playing late in the season, maybe two months away. This is a lot earlier than he was expected to return, so it would be a real bonus if he can get a few games for Peel this year. He is a massive unit, and could be a useful swingman based on what we saw in his first year.

Shame to lose this game, but it was a really high standard and a great showcase for WAFL. I'd encourage anyone who gets the chance to come along and watch some Peel games - it is a great atmosphere and it is nice to see how the "next generation" is shaping up.

Logue just got caught out of position a few times, but overall he was pretty solid down back. Took some nice intercept marks and his pace was incredible at times. Not one of his best games, but he kept us in the game with his defensive efforts when Subi were dominating the midfield.

Not his height that is holding him back. He was only average last year but seems to have come on a bit at Subi, a good move by him and his management.

I'd be in favour of giving him a go at Freo.

Deluca would be lucky to get a game. Doesn't seem to be Ross's type, should never have been delisted last year IMO.

Ueber has a heap of talent so I hope they 1.) don't rush him back and 2.) stick with him.

I think you're sugar coating his game. He was killed by Wheeler, didn't lay a tackle for the whole game and the few times he did get the ball his disposal and decision making was poor.

Wheeler is pretty damn good. Though Saunders won the medal, wheeler was IMO the best key forward for WA in the state game. Logue is interesting, his power, pace, endurance, left foot, size is quite unique. But it's the old athlete over footy player debate. Hopefully he can develop game sense, cause if he does, he'll be awesome.

Agree, whilst Wheeler isn't AFL quality, he's the best that Logue will come up against in the WAFL. Should be a game that he'll learn a lot from and will help his development but it wasn't a good game from him. Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing him off, just thought HR sugar coated his game.

Is Logue a key defender? Has he got the makings of the perfect mid ? Logue has got what Bontemp has plus added pace . Hopefully Logue is given a midfield run with Peel to see if he can handle it.

Darcy, is he ready for a debut?

Must be getting close to matching Griffs output?

Ruck skills seems to be more than capable and has mobility of sorts.

Should he have been on standby for Sandi today?

I did not watch this match , but from what i observed from previous match logue got the tendency of losing concentration or one on one battle sometime. I rather he spend more time in wafl this year to developed his game.
As for he role develeopment ,I am hoping him to play Ethan previous peel playing position.
