Is Logue a key defender? Has he got the makings of the perfect mid ? Logue has got what Bontemp has plus added pace . Hopefully Logue is given a midfield run with Peel to see if he can handle it.
I would add possible 2nd ruck to his question marks. He has enough size and a great leap. But the real advantage is he can play as a virtual extra midfielder for us in a similar vein to Blicavs for the Cats. I see that comparison as I think both of them lack a bit of the "natural" footballer about them, but have exceptional physical attributes.

I've seen this speculated a couple of times, but Mark Blicavs is 198 cm, Griffin is 193 cm.

I think you can get away with playing 195 / 196 guys as second ruck (just) but in my opinion Griffin is just too short.

I do see him as a potential big bodied midfielder down the track, but more in the mold of a Bontempelli type (please God let him be half that good!).

Probably right DD.

Keep an eye at training to see if there is ever a Logue vs Taberner sideshow.

Comparisons between Bontempelli and Logue. Wow. The difference between the players is upstairs lads.
There was no comparison, just a wistful hope that he might become a Bontempelli type player. I have no idea where you got that they were being compared?

Not really a big deal anyway.

Wheeler is pretty damn good. Though Saunders won the medal, wheeler was IMO the best key forward for WA in the state game. Logue is interesting, his power, pace, endurance, left foot, size is quite unique. But it's the old athlete over footy player debate. Hopefully he can develop game sense, cause if he does, he'll be awesome.
The more I read about Logue the more I think he should play midfield - forward. I think though that Ross loves the draftees to learn defense first!

I worry that pick 7 was given to a player who doesn't have a natural position and people are continually saying that he needs to learn football.

Hopefully by the end of the season we at least find his position. On the midfield call I'm not sure why he hasn't been given a crack at it at Peel level. Peel have a plethora of defenders at the momemt and a short supply of onballers.

Logue to the midfield is a bad idea. Would undermine his development. Simply not agile enough. Let him develop his game as a defender. If he comes on his strength and athleticism (for a kpd) will be an asset, and his kicking could potentially be a real weapon.

He wouldn't be able to apply enough pressure as a midfielder.

How many years did it take Mundy to find his best position? Remember that he played at CHB in the WAFL for a year before he played AFL, then as a HBF at AFL, then a wing/HFF till finally he was settled at centre midfield. Then he became one of the most dangerous midfielders in the competition and one of our top 3 players for at least 4-5 years (IMO).

I am not saying that midfield is necessarily Logue's best use although I do think he has the tools (even the agility - I think he has a pretty decent side-step) to do it and he would bring:

(1) Toughness around the contest and a damaging attack;
(2) a long and damaging kick; and
(3) Fast handball.

Which would be of benefit to us with Mundy not being there as much any more.

I am happy for him to be played all over the place for the meantime, although a place off the HBF at AFL level (when he plays there) is probably best.

While we on BF might not know what his future holds, I am pretty sure the recruiters would have had a very clear picture of where he will fit into the team when they picked him up. I don't think he is a solution to any particular problem, but part of a rebuild and hopefully will become important to us in the coming years.

Especially given we desperately need rebounding defenders. Decent ones anyway.

Apparently Kelly went forward for a rest from his midfied duties in the 3rd and kicked 5 for the quarter. I tuned into the broadcast halfway through the quarter and heard them call that he hit the goalpost going for his 8th.

He's definitely in the top 3 or 4 players in the WAFL. I wonder if he'd be able to play as a small forward at AFL level with the endurance of a mid for wafl.

Don't know what the recruiters look for but he turns 23yo in July. South vs Peel next week so I imagine someone at Freo gets another look at him.

Sounds like a slightly taller Blair Bell. Rookie list?
