He is on the green whistle. Id be smiling too.Just saw that stingray photo... fmd! I wouldn't be smiling and updating instagram - I'd want some painkillers and booze, stat! Are the smiles/tweets just a case of putting on a brave face? I'm not sure what longer term damage having a barb go through your foot would do.
Well, what is everyone's definition of improvement/pass mark for this season.
Seasons past (that I've been around) we've talked player retention, 5-8 wins, finance bounce backs, acquiring our own facility etc etc.
I'm not saying there is a right or wrong answer because from a supporters point of view this is very subjective. From a coaching perspective, the things they look for to gauge improvement may not immediately equate to wins. And that is the frustration for supporters and "can" affect gate takings.
In light of the above my take is:
-greater respect/coverage from the AFL community (becoming a relevant contender)
-8 wins and pushing further into games against the best teams
-strong on field leadership
-a fit and relatively injury free list
-a break even fiscal report

Yeah, that's where I get the "pushing deeper into games" against the better teams. The thing with pre season optimism is that if it's not kept in check relatively speaking, it can easily turn into disappointment due to "our" level of expectation. It's going to have to be a "know it when I see it" thing for me.
I can't set a wins/loss benchmark for us at this stage but clearly the weekly blowouts have to stop.
Obviously I need to see something resembling an AFL standard approach to defending, and that goes for the whole team not just the back six.
I want to see our 2-5 year players continue their development trajectories and not stagnate.
I want to see players have sustained periods of impacting in their position over weeks to months instead of saying "well player X looked pretty promising on a wing this week".
My take (from what I've been told) is that this is exactly the plan. To try and settle the team in relation to the playing groups most productive positions.Agree with the last few posts. I'd like to see a number of players settle into their best positions instead of seeming to jump around the field from week to week. Clear signs of increased confidence, such as a team that doesn't drop their heads as soon as 2 goals in the trot are kicked against us.
I would like to think we can win more than 4.I think 4 wins and far fewer games where we are completely uncompetitive would be a pass mark.
I would like to think we can win more than 4.
But i am forever the optimist.
No floggings for mine, hated watching games and at quarter time knowing it was all over.Well, what is everyone's definition of improvement/pass mark for this season.

I will be shattered if we finish 17/18 this year. That would mean no improvement whatsoever.
I really feel we will be around the 10 - 14 and surprise quite a few so called experts who think we have no talent.
I don't have that air of excitement like normal, just a realistic feeling of a better year and the tide turning.
We're likely going to be younger and less experienced in 2017 than we were in 2016. Not sure the scoreboard will be kind but other less obvious indicators will be pleasing if we are doing the right things.
Reckon we'll have to judge 2017 based on a Dennis Denuto "vibe of the thing" gut feeling.
