Perhaps, I look at him and see a 21 year old with around 40 games under his belt.

He has played some good football and has improved different facets of his game. I would keep him but if we were shopping for a player with his credentials it would cost us more than some people think.

Look at the last few trade periods and look at young, fringe players who move clubs and tell me how many of their teams got 'fair' value. The market isn't kind nor representative of 'fair' value at all. In fact, it's quite harsh and it's how we got Stevens, Membrey (Sydney wanted a late pick but we didn't budge knowing he was OOC) and even Steele on the cheap despite their obvious talent.

We would get a third round pick upgrade for Lonie or something along those lines.

I'm starting to wonder about GWS, Sydney and Adelaide seem more engaged. I thought all year GWS would walk it in but they have some slack attitude at times. They need a few Geary types to do the grunt work. Callan Ward the only guy who seems to give a proper shit.
Strange team GWS, they must have some strange team dynamics as well just think about how many alpha dogs they have.

I watch them quite a bit they play like their 10 goals up and doing it on the bit the whole time.

They are a highly skilled team but the number of high risk thread the eye of the needle type kicks they attempt when there is no need is a joke.

They also don't seem to ever want to just kill the ball and regroup, they seem determined to keep the contest alive at all costs.

I'm not sure who the real leaders on the field are they burn each other quite a bit, I don't know if they need blue collar as much as they need a really strong leader and a couple of high football IQ guys.

Imagine them with a Selwood and Bartel like combo running the show, Cameron was a very skilful player as well maybe it's reflected in his approach to the game as a coach.

Disappointing to hear about Lonie possibly wanting a trade.

Pull the socks up & suck it up little fella.

1. It's the player manager's job to scout around for potential offers then get back to the player.
2. Lonie loves the Saints and is really hoping for another contract with us.
3. Lonie's game last week saw him get a season high 173 DT points (including 28 contested possessions) and I'm guessing the club will be keen to re-sign him given his age and potential.
4. It's amazing how Big Footy rumours evolve on the strength of one throw away line.

Membrey had played one game, Koby wasn't best 22 and was already at his second club and turning 26 next season.

Jack Steele is the nearest to lonie, roughly the same age and had played under 20 games.

Steele cost us a good second rounder which was fair value for a player who had shown a bit but has some flaws as well.

Where do I rate fair value for Lonie a second to the right buyer but not less than an early third.

What we get is another thing and depends on if we are prepared to offer him a contract or if he wants out. It would piss me off to loose him for nothing while we keep pierce who has shown nothing.

1913 is the worst one!

We actually won the Grand Final on today's merits 10.10 70 to 6.9 45 and they won on the challenge rule!

Imagine St Kilda winning a Grand Final by 25 points!

Absolutely ridiculous, was 1913. We beat Fitzroy in the 'Preliminary final' but they had a right to challenge as the minor premiers...

Hivemind of VFL bullshit.

On SEN they said Lonie was getting interest from Brisbane and GC. His manager might be trying to get people to look though. I think Minch, Pierce and Wright will see out their contracts so probably means we need to delist a few more guys like Savage and Lonie just because of that. Rooey and dempster the only definite and Holmes, Lonie and Savage the uncontracted make it look like they might be in trouble. We still might lose Montagna and even Gilbert which would potentially save someone and if we can off load a ruckman which looks likely to be Hickey we will have another spot up our sleeves.

It's going to be tough work for our list managers in the off season.

Joey's injury has saved Sav's career. Talk about a sliding doors moment. I think we'll re-sign him.
Sav's been going well for a lot more than two weeks tho. White was the one who came in for Joey.

It's much more like Sav's form having possibly put a nail in the coffin of Joey's career. At least down back.

reckon nathan hrovat is a better comparrison
Smaller forward/mid struffled for opoprtunities with other.
Lonie probably a rung below hrovat which was Norths third round pick this year at the time probaly projected early to mid 3rd round.
Id say Lonies value would be mid/late 3rd round to 4th round

Fact is he is weighing up his option s because the club is yet to offer him a contract... which is pending on other player movements.

I think that's a fair view.

I'd be staggered if we decide savage.

As far as Joey goes. The question is if the club want his leadership and experience for another year, or if they are happy to transition to the kids.

We could do worse than stick him in the forward pocket next year with a mid rotation.

I'm about 200 pages behind in the other thread, think I might just cut my losses and try to keep up in here.

Anything I should know from the other thread, other than that all of the top prospects want to come to the Saints and we didn't want anyone who's recommitted to their club anyway?

He's close but I wouldn't rate him over Lonie.

My original point was that we under rate our players and I still think we do.

If you went through our list and put a price on all our players remembering where still in the hunt for a finals berth, I don't think you could buy a team to beat Brisbane with the proceeds.

Yet every player we mention as of possible interest to us is worth a first rounder and I'm not talking about Kelly.

Unless we can use that pick to get a better player, we'd be mad to get rid of one of the few players that can actually kick. Plus his age is a perfect balance.
Spot on unless we think we have the depth to cover him like white rice etc.

I'm in the keep him camp

Stuv with a couple of burst plays this quarter, been a while since we've seen that. Clearly something wrong with him this season imo, hopefully a big quarter and a half coming up from him.
