Round 23 Crowd Projections
Power v Bombers 39,168. On track for a 35,000 Crowd average.
For a New Record Crowds must Average: 12,175. (Almost done)
To beat 1998 Crowd Average Crowds must Average: 30,925. (Should do)
To beat 2011 Crowd Average Crowds must Average: 34,030. (Line ball)
For a 35,000 Crowd Average Crowds must Average: 36,667 (Gonna be tough.... but no record crowds required)
To beat 2006 Crowd Average Crowds must Average: 42,863 (Slipping further and further away....)
To exceed 7 million Crowds must Average: 45,417 (Slipping to the horizon......)

Remaining Matches for Round 23
Geelong v Gold Coast 25K
Richmond v Western Bulldogs 60K
Fremantle v Collingwood 40K
Carlton v Adelaide 30K
Sydney v Hawthorn 40K
Brisbane Lions v West Coast 20K
Melbourne v GWS Giants 30K
St. Kilda v North Melbourne 30K

Can overall crowds for 2018 average 35,000+? That is the question..... Gonna require some upside shocks though.

8 Matches to go.
To beat 2006 Crowd average Round 23 Crowds must equal 382,070 - which would be the 4th Highest Round Crowd of All-Time - and the highest Post ANZAC Day Round Crowds ever. Round 23 Crowds to do this must Average: 42,452 (You'd have to say this is extremely unlikely..).

To exceed 7 million Spectators Round 23 Crowds must equal 402,507 - which would be a NEW RECORD ROUND CROWD. However, the average crowd required is: 44,723 (5th Highest Average Crowd All-Time) behind 1. Round 22, 1998 (Average Crowd: 45,997), 2. Round 1, 2007 (45,568), 3. Round 17, 2009 (45,181), 4. Round 21, 2007 (44,744) - highest average Round Crowd since 2009 - you'd have to say all but impossible.

Good thing the Kids are getting in for free this weekend........

Certainly won't threaten the Top 5 Crowd Averages. Maybe in 2019.

It would be nice if overall crowds could average 35,000+ for the first time since Gold Coast came in. Might just fall short though....

56,998 at the G.

Richmond finish with a record total for them of 1,194,893. This is the 6th highest of all time and the best by a team other than Collingwood. Richmond's previous best was 1,054,354 and the previous non-Collingwood best was Essendon in 1998 with 1,169,551.

Richmond fans will shoot me down here but their 'big 1' claim is a bit hollow when they have never reached the top 5 total aggregate for a season.

FFS those flogs don't represent all RFC fans

57K for Richmond's training run today pretty good

That's in the past. Right now no other team can claim to draw better than the Tigers until they do we sit on top of the attendance tables.

Interesting to hear that on average only 50% of Richmond reserve seat holders rock up to each RFC home game. I would assume the numbers are similar for most clubs. Maybe next time there's a big game/sell out and the ground is under capacity it won't be completely blamed on the MCC.

Thats just blatantly wrong. Please get all the facts first before making this false claim. The 55% is only in reference to level 2N 'southern stand seating' which they are going to lose part of their bays. It effects about 1500 people.

That's an incredible stat. If that was the case over here then no game would exceed low 30's.

Why would a reserved seat holder in Melbourne be so much less likely to attend than a reserved seat holder in Perth?

Rob thats incorrect just thought id clear that up. Their was a big ruckus this week with level 2 N1 to N9 cut back to N6 for premiership circle members as it was shown by our membership dept that 55% were only rolling up so they cut them back from N1-N6 (removed reserved seating altogether and will be first in, best dressed. Well only N6 will allow to reserve a seat but will need to be booked at a $6 cost.
The 3 other bays from N7 to N9 i believe are going to 3121 members.

Lolll why would anyone shoot you down. To get to 1.2 or 1.3 everything has to go right, the fixture and the right mix of teams in the 8.
We top the home and away attendance again, 3 times from the last 4 years. We still have more years ahead of us to get over 1.2 mill

Collingwood finish on 1,112,580. This is the 20th time Collingwood have exceeded 1 million. It is their 10th highest tally and the 14th highest for any club. It is also the highest total not to be No. 1 for the season.

Should have mentioned in my previous post that this is the 5th time Richmond have hit 1 million.

Freo finish on 791,299 which is a record total for them. The previous best was 737,569 in 2007. Should have scope for improving on this in coming years with the new stadium.

Bombers finished 8th that year. Shows their drawing power and what they're capable of if they were not locked into Docklands deal.

You are right.

Home attendance worked out at a 61000 average which is only the third time ever that 60K has been reached.

Travelling to the Two expansion teams was always going to deflate numbers as well.

There has to be a bit of common sense. If we can average 61k at home I'm happy. Away crowds are for others to concentrate on

Bulldogs finish on 642,211 which is their 12th highest total. They are the only club so far to record a downturn from last year's total.

Gold Coast finish on 410,735 which is their 3rd highest total. Helped in part by playing a 'home' game in Perth but far from as disastrous as it might have been.

Port finish on 740,728 which is their 2nd highest total ever. This one took me a bit by surprise and is largely on the back of a big increase in their away crowds, registering their highest away total ever.

While it was a great result, they had the cushiest draw of all time that year. Only travelled twice and had 16 games at the MCG, a combo no team has got before or since (no matter how often people claim Collingwood has).

Played 3 at Waverley as well so almost every game in non restricted Melbourne stadia.

Still a great year and we all know they will be a drawcard beast next time they are top 4. Vast potential.
