Totally agree about Loersch, has had an injury interrupted 2018, but since being on the park has had 38 shots on goal for 21.17 from 7 games played.....Perhaps a full season in the WAFL in 2019 may see him kick 60 plus and turn a few AFL heads...reckon ex Collingwood boy and SD ruck/forward Corey Gault could be in the mix......openly admits struggled during his time at Collingwood, but knows his game and body a lot more now...definitely playing some good footy for SD since returning from over east.

Marsh has had more games up back this year for EF and played up back v SA and from the sound of things has done well....seemed to indicate he had lost interest in the next level I thought, but after East Freo's deplorable 2018 season, he may want a change of scenery and success.....kicking a bit dodgy tho...

State invites are out!

There are a few surprises:

- There are no NEAFL mature players and only 3 from the WAFL.
- No Wellings or Fitt.

Just on the state combine invitees for the VFL revealed, not a bad list. As mentioned, some stiff to miss but you still need 3 clubs interested in you to be invited to the state combine.

For those of you unfamiliar with these guys;

Marty Hore - medium defender who has come on in leaps at and bounds in the past 24 months.
Nick Hind - small speedster who can play off half back or as a running midfielder. Similat to Luke Dalhause
Will 'Billy' Hayes - Bigger bodied midifielder who does everything well. Best season yet for the Bulldogs in the VFL.
Corey Rich - Small marking fwd who started the year exceptionally well for the unheralded Dolphins. Marks it well, kicks goals. Power packet.
Ethan Phillips - First year VFL key defender who defends well with his reading of the play.
Jake Aarts - Former Bendigo Gold player who was invited down to Melbourne. A medium utility, he can play fwd or back.
Sam Collins - Best player in the VFL. Most know about his exploits in the VFL this season. Former Docker will almost certainly get another go.
Brett Bewley - Lethal left footer who rose to prominence last year after turning potential into performance. Defender who could translate to the highest level.

Jay Lockhart - Another medium defender who has come to the fore this year having come from no where.
Kieran Strachan - Came to prominence with a dominant game last year for the Bombers VFL side. Was released mid season to play more consistently for the Borough. Lots of upside in the 22 year old.
Charlie Thompson - Lots are talking up this small forward. Quick with plenty of tricks. Lots to like
Hayden McClean - Lots of positives in this big lump of a lad. Question marks still surround H and his mobility translating to AFL level.
Ben Cavarra - The VFL version of Shane Nelson. Just does his job week in week out. No fuss small utility.

Feel there were a few guys stiff to miss out;

Marcus Lentini at Coburg has been a ball magnet this year. Callan Wellings has started off his VFL career in fine form as has former Stingray Tom Jok at Collingwood. Jesse Palmer goes from strength to strength for the Northern Blues whilst the Dolphins former Roo Will Fordham continues to produce at Kars St. Lots of guys on the cusp but could be a lean year with many 'almost' guys on the cusp. Josh Corbett the absolute standout, with the 190cm medium fwd standing on heads.

He has done well this year (25 goals to date), as has Sam Fisher (ex-Sydney rookie) particularly over the past two months after a slow start.

Would be happy for Carlton to give one or both another opportunity.

Nice little article on AFL.com.au about the few WAFL faces to watch and on the AFL radar including Marlion Picket, Haiden Schloithe and Cody Leggett.

They have also done a similar article for the SANFL, the NEAFL with the VFL likely to have an article up in coming days.

Mate, that's a very encouraging report. Thanks for that.

Mate, exciting times at Lathlain Park this Saturday.

Kaiden Gilbert, Matthew Palfrey, Jye Bolton, Jordan Clark, Declan Hardisty, Jared Hardisty, Dylan Smallwood, Jeremy Goddard, Jack Beeck, Oliver Eastland, Bailey Rogers (CL) and Cody Leggett, Michael Sinclair, Corey Byrne, Zack Hill, Michael Bennell, Sydney Stack, Jared Bell, Brant Colledge (P) all named in the respective 25's.

Sometimes I wonder!

It's 2890km from Moscow to London. It's 3418km from Perth to Melbourne.

It's like we in Perth are in a different country.

We're out here, we play aussie rules, and we have a lot of good players.
I think GWS will be into a few WA state league players again this year .

Marty Hore is a Collingwood VFL. Hopefully the Pies can at least rookie list him. He has been impressive for a couple of years now and really deserves a chance.

How'd they go?
Darcy Fort probably had a draw with Baulderstone. Which isn't bad considering it was his first game back from injury.

Nunn was frustrating. His speed/endurance, defensive efforts and ability to find the ball is AFL standard. However, I don't think he trusts his kicking at pace and doesn't hurt teams like he should. With that said he had 31 touches and 14 marks; was still good today.

Looks like I'm not the only one on the Nathan Krueger train at the moment .
From AFL.com

Nathan Krueger (South Adelaide)
An explosive athlete, Krueger was overlooked in last year's national and rookie draft, but has put that disappointment aside to have an impressive season for South Adelaide. The exciting 19-year-old forward, who stands 196cm, has kicked 15 goals from nine league games. Was electric in a game against Central District, booting 3.1 from 10 disposals (nine contested possessions) and four inside 50s, but it's the three contested marks that would have got scouts interested. He's been invited to the SA Draft Combine and is one to watch.

Aaron Nietschke - 23 Disposals - 12 Kicks - 11 Handballs - 4 Marks - 1.0
Jackson Hately - 22 Disposals - 10 Kicks - 12 Handballs - 9 Marks - 2.0
Jez McLennan - 9 Disposals - 6 Kicks - 3 Handballs - 2 Marks
And Grigg was far better than all of them just like has been in nearly every game for the last 2 seasons. He absolutely embarrassed SPP and Rockcliff earlier in the season.

Grigg should still be playing AFL. Teams like GC or Carlton should look at him. Mature big body who can make an immediate impact for them. Wouldnt cost much.

Sam Collins will get drafted. AFL has come out and said he can't be picked up as a delisted free agent. Which makes complete sense but clubs must have been asking the question for the AFL to come out and say this.

Will be the first VFL player to have his name called out....A certainty.
