I’m warming to McGrath.

Besides Oliver I don’t normally pick 2nd year players. Could be a handy D4 that averages 85-95.

To be D4 he needs to average 90+, closer to 95+ ideally

fwiw i can see him getting that - kid was a ball magnet as a junior

Proven v next gen:

Simpson, Birchall, R.Gray & Cyril

V

Burton, McGrath, Billings & Bennell

Is $470k too much to be classified as a mid pricer? I'll be locking in Toby McLean in my forward line this year. Averaged 93 after being moved into the midfield in round 12 and believe he'll be a consistent 95-100 point scorer all year.

As a fwd he's not a midpricer imo

I usually don’t pick breakout fancies but De Goey is one I’m taking the risk on. Priced at a 79 average, he cracked 100 four times after the bye, 110 three times with a game high of 130, a game he was only dominant for two and a bit quarters. Hopefully he builds up his tank over the pre-season and by playing more midfield because four midfield quarters from him could be SP material.

What is his scoring like with Pendles in the team and without?

Did those big scores you speak of come when Pendles was out or significantly hampered by injury like he was for a lot of last season. I like De Goey but there is only so many points to go around and the Pies Midfield and smaller brigade are pretty much stacked and even more so with Taylor Adams rumored to be playing more out of the middle next season and he also is a Mid only this season and lost his DPP.

434 is mighty awkward $$$ wise mid or forward for him and i remember Seedsman having the same raps on him at a similar stage in their careers.

Just my opinion but i cannot see a decent jump in average scoring to warrant picking him.

Can't you just let the Pies fans drool all over their love child...

Everyone has favourites and this is fine and people are free to pick whoever they want!

Pretty much the same as you with Hurn! :p :drunk:

Understand your thinking, but most of the leading clubs that have a high % of wins, thus scoring more SC Points .....have strong & deep midfields

Can i assume you won't be picking any of these guys ? ;)

How does that fit though with your previous argument re De Goey ?

Cause danger is a proven SC God and No.1.

De Goey is an up and comer with a lot of ?????? on him and if Pendles when healthy is not the highest scoring mid for the Pies i will eat my hat!

Adams and Treloar with Pendles will comfortably outscore De Goey IMO and restrict his ceiling for Mid field minutes leading to lower scores or a break even 79 at best.

Paying 430k + for him for a return of a sub 80 average = Passsssssss!

Actually i would comfortably say that Charlie Curnow at 30k cheaper in the forward line will have a higher average than De Goey after next season and will see equal if not more Mid field minutes.

Pendles has been my first SC player picked the last 4 years .......he would only go below 100 maybe 1-2 times a year, so he was Mr Reliable

Last year he had 8 games scoring below 100 ......that's 30% compared with 5% other years ......is this a sign? ..he plays next season as a 30 yo

De Goey's ave last year was 79 after a slow start due to suspension .....in his 4th year , last 4 games encouraging for a 2018 breakout year ......he's a definite watch

As a forward only now do you think he is a better selection than Charlie Curnow at 30k more......

Feel free to post up the last 7 or so games from last season as well.

Curnow's last 4 games below ....but he only had 4 games scoring over 100
IMO he's another year away from being a genuine SC option ......he'll most likely spend more minutes in the midfield in 2018, but by 2019 his tank should be ready for extended minutes

Go from Rd 16 onwards last season for both players.

Chism are you Charlie bruv? ...luv you:straining:

I will pick you next year, or the next you sexy beast...hold tight...:rainbow::rainbow::rainbow:.

Do you already know the answer ?

Just trying to reaffirm a point that Curnow at 30k cheaper is MUCH better value with a much higher ceiling than what de Goey is.

Everyone is free to pick who they want and this whole forum is based on opinion which is fine but look at Charlie's scores when we actually made him a focal point all over the ground late last season. ;)

He will be given an even greater role in 2018 and just sayin.
