Ollie, Ollie...oi oi oi

Guess they'll have his salary to spend....
They’d want to

They have a lot of players coming out of contract who would be wanting big pays

Everyone’s talking about Wines. No ones asking why Ducky Byrne-Jones. When you see what spuds like Motlop and Watts are getting paid ...

They need to learn the meaning of the word humility.
You need to learn to win graciously as well as lose graciously.
I know, Tex didnt go so well with The GF defeat speech. So dont pull the ironic shit with me power fans.
It wasn't that bad but it wasnt gr8.
I really found the tiger fans grating with the carry on from their win. No grace there.
The old Port magpies were arrogant with every right to be but were still graceful winners.(most of the time)
The power fans are just plain arrogant with NO grace in winning or losing at all.
They seem to not have a grip on reality most of the time.
You would have thought the tough years they have had in the AFL would have taught them just a touch of humility.
Let's just say Tex's speech in defeat was 1000x better than Mark Williams in victory.

Waiting for Port fans to tell me "you were wrong".

Maybe it has something to do with the reason they can't get a major sponsor

Which makes sense as their mid-tier is very average too
Also need to remeber that Ollie would be in less than $400k. He signed his last contract early.

His next contract will be on par with what Melbourne offered Lever ie $850k plus.

That cap space is for them to give Ollie what he will demand.

The cap is 12.45m and all.clubs must pay 95% of that cap.

If the Power are paying minimum cap they have about $620k to play with.

Ollie and his manager know this and are working to get as much of it as they can.

Jake Niall is actually doing Port a disservice with this claim. His source is probably Ollies manager. He has now set Ollies market value a little higher. Melbourne or Saint Kilda may now need to up their offers to Ollie knowing Port have more room. Port will then need to offer Ollie more.

Good to see Ollie' s manager use the media to extract coin from Port. Much like Kern's did in getting a contract extension with that "Quitting to coach Gold Coast" story.

End of the day Ollie will stay at Port and be well paid plus be captain. Port will bend over to any demand he and his manager makes. His manager has started playing the game and will win. Now Ollie has to do his oart and have a career best year.

Poor little snowflake Daniel Gorringe....he's very good at throwing his skirt over his head and taking his bat home. It was bad enough him having a tizzy fit when Port passed him over but then he got his father to enter the fray.

Port dodged a bullet there. I think Gorringe has been drinking his own bathwater for some time now and thought he was a lot better than he actually is.

What a load of crap. I work with Sydney-siders and people from Brisbane daily. They all know what type of club powa is. They use it as a bit of a tease to people from Adelaide saying "you go for Port" with a bit of a laugh. They certainly know what demographic people associate with them. I guess like people keep commenting, probably why they find it hard to attract tier 1 sponsors.

Definitely sarcasm
That's tbe bigger of the 2 clubs in Adelaide, isn't it.

Jake Niall is just Rucci in disguise, closet port supporter
Well he is not helping your club.

The last thing you guys would want other clubs to know is how high you can pay Ollie.

Ollie's manager can now go to North (or anyone) and say Port have more money to use if you want him you have to offer more. North offer more and then he goes to Port and says North offered more now match it.

As Motlop and his managerr did in engaging us to get more money from Port. With the help of Kane Cornes. I have no doubt Motlop always wanted to be at Port and just used our interest to raise his salary to a level where we saw Geelong get such a great compo pick.

It seems to be a common way managers negotiate with Port. Play them off against another club to get a better deal for their client after you guys cave in. Whoever negotiates your contracts would be poor at poker.

You guys are basically walking into a car yard with a fistfull of cash and a smiling face and the shark car salesman will take all of that cash and more just so you can buy that shiny red car that is actually worth a lot less than he sold it to you.

There is little doubt he will stay at Port. And never hit the performance ceiling his natural ability suggests he could hit.

Like Chad Wingard.

Imagine how great Ollie could be if he had our coaches and performance culture. Look how Matt Crouch has developed compared to Ollie.

But he will be well paid.

And Hartlett.

Seriously, name the last Port drafted player to reach their potential.

Maybe Boak/Grey, but you're seriously looking 10 years back there.

Boak didn't. I feel Ollies career will mirror his. Nice and comfortable as a well paid fan favourite and captain. But never a regular AA calibre player.

Gray yes. Very much so.

Can’t they pay 105% in the following year?

How much of Gray was due to his drive to overcome his knee rebuild? He always had talent but also had something extra to drive him. Just pondering....

Powa's "whatever it takes to keep their players to maintain their image of a family team, cohesive, destination club, blah blah..." Makes lazy players that don't appear to strive to achieve their maximum potential.

that was my understanding too... clubs can roll over up to 5% from one year to the next year if they don't pay 100% of cap

that would give port up to $1.2m to splash next year
