I’m a casual relief primary school teacher but spent the last two weeks with the same grade 3/4 class. I don’t get paid for my holidays.

If you think my job is easy I’d challenge you to 30 mins trying to be in control of that class without going crazy. 4 autistic kids, a quarter of the class Indigenous, bitchy girls, hippie parents with no boundaries, a girl who has been home schooled all her life and rocked up this year, another girl who identifies as a boy...

I loved it & I did a great job but the energy I spent remaining calm in the face of chaos was hurting my health. Last Friday I thought I’d have a few beers and unwind. I ended up drinking and thinking until 1am about how to improve my teaching & make that class easier for one particularly troubled kid who has been through 4 schools in 4 years

This has nothing to do with preseason but please don’t criticise teachers. It’s a job that requires a lot of energy if you want to do it well.

Teachers are professionals. Teaching is a profession.

A profession is not just qualifications and specialised training. Professionals are trusted with the protection and promotion of key public goods.

You sound like a considerate, committed teacher. I hope you get a permanent position somewhere to really shape young lives.

Mini-melt: **** me our training videos are consistently shithouse.

Back on track, great to hear that we were quick to pair Boyd and Schache together up forward. I just hope we make a decision one way or the other and stick to it, not play them together for pre-season then pick Boyd in the ruck round 1 or vice versa.

Is Libba back yet? Just asking in reference to the statement that he would return to training early. I know he has until November 19 to still be technically “early” but am hoping the commitment is more than the minimum.

In the training video on the website, it could be him behind Boyd at one stage. I'm not sure though.

I don’t want to derail this thread but I don’t think anyone implied the job teachers do is easy. It was about the generous time off received as opposed to the 4 weeks most other full timers get

100% agree. Don't show much at all.

Have to agree Dannnn[etc]. We get zero from arty-farty shots of boot laces being tied, or the seemingly inevitable shots of in focus stationary footballs, with blurred out players in the background. Give us more film of players actually training, and less pseudo art school movie making.

Schache is an absolute jet. Along with T.Boyd, will form a lethal combination that will have the competition shitting themselves. Another flag is on the horizon.
Considering the curvature of the earth, the closer you get to the horizon the further it seems away.

It's all my fault. *devil emoji* After 25 years of being a teacher here I wanted to finally be on the other side. :)

Teaching three VCE English classes in 1999 with middle school English and SOSE was one of the main reasons I quit and went back to the states. I was burnt out. Little did I know at the time that a few years later I'd be a caregiver full time which turned out to be harder than teaching.

The proudest moment I had as a teacher was when I ran into a former student who was at uni studying to be a teacher back in about 1985. I said to him, "You want to be a teacher in spite of having me as a teacher?" His response was, "It's because I had you as a teacher". That shut me up, which as you tell tell by my writings on here, doesn't happen often. The only people I respect more are nurses and health care workers in general. They gave me the strength to be a caregiver for the last 15 years.

Subject now ended from me.

I admire the "night cart" workers. Where would we be without those, heroes of the night

The meek shall inherit the earth as we did in 2016

Our premiership was so so special. I have a love and bond for all you, my brothers and sisters.

Nestle under the cloak. The cloak of Beveridge the Bont and Thomas Boyd. And Dale Morris, and Jack and our special players. My lovely Bailey Dale. Shelter under their wings. A new club is reborn, we have taken the ashes from the fire of 2016 and stoked it into a living furnace. We have burnt off the old dead wood. Some we had to burn, some got caught in the embers. I see the fire reflected in the eyes of our players. Tom Liberatore is a complex man but a determined man and this year the ying will dominate the yang.

Watch what will happen.

Watch 'the outsiders'

Something too big to stop has started

Yeah shit are we really slamming teachers here? **** sake.

Yeah we decided to give the asylum seekers, dole bludgers, feminists and other assorted lefty do-gooders a break and aim our vitriol at those rotten teachers! Nevermind the revelations about tax dodging multinational corporations, its the teachers who are ruining the world!

And show the competition all that is going on?

Maybe not.
