My take on those other videos was different. Lots of chest puffing by Gold Coast recruiters but they didn't get the deals they wanted - in fact they got screwed by West Coast. Carlton was basically SOS going rogue. Thought ours was more open discussions with more in the room allowed to give their opinion.

Would have been interesting to see our guys in action on day 2, as that's where most of our deals happened.
What I did find interesting was that the Crows obviously think that Carlton will finish much lower than us considering they knocked back the deal we proposed which was exactly the same deal Carlton proposed & they agreed to

Answered it for me sunny3193

Thought their handling of their prospective deals were far more controlled with everyone in the room knowing what they were doing & the deal they were attempting to achieve
Yes, my thoughts.
It’s especially interesting considering that the deals we were trying to do, with Adelaide, were never going to happen.
We were trying to offer our 2019 first at a much earlier part of the draft than Carlton did with theirs.
What was the deal maker was the value of Carlton’s 2019 #1 v ours, and what Adelaide had to give up to get the deal (#19 v #13).

Yes I find that really fascinating - in fact our deal was actually better than Carlton's as it included pick 36 as a kicker. Crows must have thought that there is a higher likelihood of Carlton finishing in the bottom 2 or 3, whereas we are less predictable as to where we'll finish.

This gives me hope going into next year, as most people have predicted us bottom 4, whereas other clubs obviously don't see it as so clear-cut.

A huge amount! Wtf happened to him? He seems like a different guy here than in every interview I've seen with him before.
Probably just got his leg over for the first time. Gives a bloke a nice lift.....

Anyone else watched the video on AFL website of how hard we went to try to do live trade deals to get Jye Caldwell, then when that fell through, tried another deal to get a pick to get Collier-Dawkins.

Good viewing. We had a crack & came up short both times.

We looked so bloody amateurish going about it though :(
One deal the only difference was Carlton.

I found it very bizarre considering we were giving up pick 36 & our 2019 1st for their pick 19 & a 2019 2nd

They ended up taking only Carlton’s 2019 1st but then gave up their pick 19 & 2019 1st

****ing weird

Still could be 2018 #19, 2019 #10ish for 2019 #2-4

The big take away from it, is everyone's opinion of next year's draft.

If we can make finals it'd be an excellent draft year to trade the first rounder for a gun player.

I can’t talk to that, you’d most likely have a better idea.
(Your Ian Hill pick at #2 notwithstanding, you at least had the balls to list your top picks in this last draft. Me? No idea).
I do agree with you that we might not have a first next year.
But I’m more bullish on this than you.
I don’t think our final ladder spot will be critical.
Provided we do not have a repeat of this year, a reasonable assumption you’d hope, we will probably finish mid table or thereabouts.
So after bids etc, maybe in the #7 to #10 range.
Nice, but not priceless.
I’m picking up the vibe we might explore how to leverage this pick.

It’s way too early and dependant on a number of variables but here are some thoughts:

The media is not salivating over the 2019 crop like they were over 2018, indicating to me a lesser quality draft.
Carlton trading out their 2019 first either supports that view, or condemns their list management. But given the fist pumping in the video I’m inclined to give them the benefit of the doubt and go with the former.
It’s quite clear that Lethlean has a different sense of what matters.
We demonstrated in this last trade/draft the club has adopted a different strategy to that of past years: some call it brave, I call it creative.
Gubby is there for a reason, and that’s not to draft kids. That’s not his expertise. We have Libba for that.
Gubby is there to add value to other strategies.
We have three F/S+Academy kids coming through. We will need points for them if they are good enough (it seems that Biggy alone is worth it).
We may follow North’s lead from this year and do as you say: trade the pick for a gun player.
Or: #joshkelly12
So depending on a number of variables, I can easily see us losing our first pick.

Disclaimer: if we finish bottom three then scrub the above.

AFL: Saint moves on from 'rollercoaster' debut season.

I saw a couple of Coffield's Sandy games late in the season and he looked like he had lost a lot of his confidence. This kid has plenty of upside and having the Hannebery influence around him could be huge. I also feel like Billings is in the same boat. I'm really looking forward to seeing what these guys can deliver in 2019

Much lower or just lower?

1 spot is enough to agree to the deal w Carlton and knock back our offer. I reckon most clubs would have done the same.

Not only did Max get drafted ahead of Ben, he scored a better ATAR. Ben would have to be dirty as he is covered in both areas by Max, despite his draft pick and ATAR score being top quality. Feel for the kid. On the other hand, we have the better twin :)
Love it!

Isn't Max slightly taller too?

Ben is the Chris Dawson of these identical twins
