Heard off the grapevine that we've been keeping in contact with Jayden Laverde's management. His contract ends this season. We were keen on him a year or so ago and apparently he may look to leave for more opportunity if this year doesn't pan out.

Bloody hell not this again lol. Look, I wouldn’t say no. He’s Goat size & is fast! Straight swap for Goddard seems reasonable. They are from the same draft, taken around the same pick & have both had their injury worries. About as fair as you can get.

We cant afford to trade out our best players .
Our game attendance numbers are terrible now without fans knowing that our performances can get worst .
Get some good coaches , invest money into development/ recruitment.
We need to use our 1st rounders and pick up experienced players via trades / FA .
We can turn things around .

Both have had poor luck with injuries, but Laverde has shown a bit more than Hugh I reckon.

Hard to know what he’ll be worth at the end of the year. He was pretty good today I thought, if he plays every game like that for the season he probably won’t be as cheap as we hope.

You are probably right. As of now though I doubt there’s much difference in value but as you say if he plays the remainder of the year like today that’ll change.

Imagine Laverde & De Goey. I’d be pretty stoked with that. One can dream.

Doesn'tmatter who we get if we keep Richo...

Nah just messing with you :)

Much rather trade either Goddard or longer with late round pick exchanges for a 2nd rounder .
Hit up Guthrie & Nick Smith as FA's .
Go to draft with top 3 pick & mid 20's pick and upgrade Marshall.

If you were Guthrie would you leave Geelong to come to Stkilda ?

HAve to agree. Up to the club to decide who is our future. Battle or Bruce? Marshall or Membrey?

Then you have to look at who has decent currency, as you say, and make a tough call.

Ross is an interesting one, and will depend on where we see Steele and Acres heading.
Also agree in that, I believe that Steven needs to stay.
If we could lure players like Lynch, Gaff or a Shiel to the club with the core we have already, then wow what a difference.
Given our current position though, I think, maybe suitcases full of cash and long term contracts swell as maybe captaincy is the only way to get them here.
If one can be poached then getting a second star is easier to achieve. Would love two class mids, if not Lynch and a mid. Not sure how likely.
We also definitely require some clean outs though. Gilbert, Lonie, Wright, Pierce, maybe Longer, Rice and Newness doubt seem to be taking us anywhere.

Hi gents,
Apologies if already asked, but just seeing how long Acres had to run on current contract?
I know from a personal close family contact we are sniffing around and there is a big family pull to bring him home.

If the GOAT left for West Coast and inevitably became a midfield star of the competition there (because he was played there) I reckon that would be me done with footy. Doubt I could ever recover.

lol i would feel exactly the same.

apparently he loves it here in Melbourne though, not sure it means anything these days though
