In the meanwhile, Noble has completely removed us from two years' first round rounds, and hasn't got the sort of overs that clubs normally managed to achieve when moving up the order. Honestly I find the Gold Coast trade bizarre, unless you automatically assume that we make finals next year - something I have as a long shot. It looks fairly average to me. Not bad per se. Just not good. We're now going to have to overpay to get back into the first round in at least one of those years.
The club's list management strategy is planned years in advance and we don't know who or what they have on their radar next year. Maybe, just maybe, there is logic to us giving up next year's first round and getting in a second round. Maybe we will use it to bid on Lachlan Johnson (son of Chris) or an academy player next year, maybe not.

As far as next year's picks go, at the moment, based on this year's finishing positions, we are only one of three clubs that have two picks in the top 22 and three picks in next year's top 40. It's not as bad as some suggest.

If nothing else, this trade period has clearly shown that the picks we start with prior to the trade period will not be the picks that we take to the draft.

Spare a thought for one of our ex players Pearce Hanley. Left to refresh his career and get some more wins. Has been injured constantly and the Suns are set start all over again.

Will still be one of my all time fave Lions players.

Would be in good coin at least.

Pearce is on a very good wicket. I don't think he'll be too upset.

Goodbye Sammy Mayes and thanks for sticking with us during the tough times. Apart from Josh, Patful and Reddo, I haven't really wished many other players all the best when they have left and hoped that they would genuinely succeed at their new club. I sincerely hope that Sam has a great career over at Port and enjoys spending some quality time with his family. Have only met him a couple of times, but seems like a ripper bloke and I'm sure that the other boys will miss him too. I'll always cheer for Sammy.

He made his choice. He'll have a ringside seat for our rise up the ladder.

Wouldn't it be ironic if the Beams trade didn't go through and we do a pick swap with Collingwood prior to the draft ... our 30 and 35 for their pick 18 :)

We have done alright so far, I don't see our CEO quickly sending an email to all members trying to explain our trade and draft strategy like Jeff Kennett at Hawthorn. I trust we know already who we are going to target in trading next year and have positioned for that. Nobel doesn't strikes me as a guy sitting on a short term 1 year plan. I see a big white board with every position and every player then 3 or 4 columns after with season 1 seasons 2 and then the Premiership column and names in every one.

We had a speedy hbf on our wish list....any chance of pulling one from our sleeve before 8.30?

Is there a chance Essendon stuffs this Shiel trade?

Surely not, but Dodoro isn't the sharpest tool in the shed.
It seems like it's on the cards, which would be hilarious.

Three way trade- Brisbane, Bulldogs and Collingwood

In regards to Adams, Roughead and Beams

Apparently major pick swaps have been talked

Bulldogs get a third rounder for us, upgrade to collingwoods first pick, we get a Bulldogs second, collingwoods future first and Adams and Collingwood get Beams, Roughead and a third this year?
