Amazing. A poster that previously had their favourite team set to Collingwood has swapped it to North so they can post in this thread. A lot of these bay types with a handful of posts from their multiple accounts are trickling in.
Before people get all riled up about this Plan B - Josh Kelly talk, it’s not a consideration and is pure click bait.

Fact not Fiction

I wouldn’t be putting that down as fact.

There’s still a lot to play out - gaff is extremely disappointing but we will be ok.

He’s a very good player - but there’s better options and we will land one.

It's highly unlikely that he left $2 million on the table. It is apparent that the Eagles upped their bid substantially. Wouldn't have matched our, but no doubt it is a lot closer than where they were previously.

Unless they are hellbent on getting out, players would have value they would ask their club for. It’s unlikely to match what’s the rival offer is, but it would be benchmark. “Give me this and I’ll stay”

Unfortunately WC and Richmond have had the means in the background to make up any shortfall.

Is it apparent that WC upped their offer or is it an excuse we can use to make us feel better that he didnt sign with us?

Hey, it could be just an excuse, but it would mean his decision is illogical.

If he was never coming to us, then you could argue that it's embarrassing for us because we offered him $2m more and he still snubbed us. But given he agreed to come to us and only changed his mind this weekend, then I think the likelihood is they narrowed the gap sufficiently to allow the loyalty card to be played.

My final take on this fiasco is...

I wish no personal harm to Gaff and it's alright to see a player motivated by more than money. But, his indecisiveness through the whole saga was pretty unprofessional. It dragged on so long that in the end it was a bit of a joke and although I wanted him to come to NMFC all along, there was a part of me thinking that if he really couldn't decide then maybe he's better off staying. If he at some stage made unofficial commitments to North and then reneged on that, well, that doesn't speak too highly of him and I hope he never realises his ambition to play in a premiership.

As for North, well, I dunno. I don't think they've done anything too wrong here but once again we look like turkeys. The narrative rightly or wrongly is that there is no amount of money that would make a good player switch clubs to North. Hannebery, Heeney, Kelly, Martin, DeGoey and Gaff. All have had a look and rathered what they had. It sucks because the club has a lot to offer on and off the field but obviously there is something we lack. The club has handled itself with integrity - no rash public comments before, during or after (so far) despite being stuffed around. Unfortunately we can't keep this sort of thing under wraps though. The leak was out far too early and contributed to the soap opera manner in which it played out. How does that happen? No doubt we'll go after Kelly again but the club needs to reflect on how we go about all of this. The 'war chest' alone doesn't get good players out of good clubs. We can't ever be led along like this again - we look needy and desperate. Do you want to be part of NMFC or not? No? Then thanks and good luck because we're looking for someone who believes in what we have and not just the dollars we can give you. If other contract extensions or delistings were made based on Gaff's misleading and meaningless 'word' then regardless of Polec or Hall or whatever comes next, we've in some way botched this period. Lessons need to be learned because, although trying is good, continually trying and failing has to end.

Not all doom and gloom though. It was a very positive season, Polec and Hall will make us better, and we still have some trades to work through.

There a lot of pretent Bigwig In The Know posters on this forum that should be banned for life. I told you all long a go the Gaff was staying, it was always the case and it was just his suspension that put a little doubt I his mind. It’s amazing how many so called inner scrots actually managed to make me doubt my source and let me hope it wa wrong. To all you guys that said it was Gaffening, heck O F F. Stop pretending you know shit. When I can sit here in Adelaide and hear more about what is happening just goes to show how full of shit you are.
.......

I don't know what you smoke....but it must be bloody strong.

Problem is, every two-bit player manager with half a brain will now open talks with us in the knowledge that it’s their best bet to leverage more $$$$ from the incumbent club.

Or he loves the Eagles and has been emotionally ****ed for the last month, wrestling with multiple issues and just couldn't make the break.
