Dayne Beams' manager Paul Connors has spoken – very briefly – to SEN, saying "It might be a fun day".

Read into that what you will!

I'm hopeful we get Tyson because among other things, like Pittard he adds depth and therefore pressure on other players to perform.

I also can see a real opportunity for him as an inside mid to enable Cunners to go forward more often where his marking and ability to kick goals may be very handy. Imagine Jack and BennyC alongside and around BennyB for brief times during the game. May well provide a massive headache to opposition defenders, if we are to win clearances and get the ball out of the middle consistently.

A mature experienced player is always going to outperform a kid.

I think he will be a boon for games against heavy contested ball teams, but it will likely come at the expense of LDU's development.

Every few years we seem to flip flop between having a crack and rebuilding and never seem to build a good enough squad. There is a reason we have become a mid table team.

Im over him. The man is the ultimate troll.

I've been interested in the reactions of many posters whose opinions I respect greatly.

I like where we're at as of Round 1, 2019 with the disclaimer that our next step is critical. I think we have a good base to launch from. Going forward:

a) the development of our 21 and unders will determine whether we push Top 4 or are stuck in the 'vortex' as Wallace calls it
b) the war chest - specifically a Kelly type plus the best FA available next year will determine whether we push for a flag
c) we need to then go back to the draft and top up from underneath age wise. Will also add that we should not hold non performing players a second longer than we need to

How many brothers does Dayne have? It was mentioned earlier on the wireless that his wife is a Melbourne girl PLUS his brother is in Melbourne. If said brother is Clay you're on the money mate.
Clay is playing for the Western Magpies up in Brisbane. Level below the NEAFL.
Dayne dirty they cut his brother maybe?

Man Seriously, how can players want to move states but only to one club, Tim Kelly and now Beams, all those tat's to try and make themselves look tough when really they are so fickle inside. Brisbane should be asking for at least a 1st and second rounder 18 wont be enough.

Also how is collingwood going to afford him they are already breaking at the seams.

Collingwod is one of the clubs that doesn't have a salary cap

Some key stats we need to consider when discussing why the club has any interest in Dom Tyson:

2018 - North Melbourne
7th contested possessions
16th clearances,
5th centre clearances
13th tackles

Centre clearances were ok but those other stats are absolute rubbish.

Does everyone remember the second bulldogs game? We had all our 'inside bulls' in the stoppages and got absolutely creamed by Hunter, Macrae, Daniel and Bont. Ahern had no influence, Simpkin had no influence, Higgins was coming back from knee surgery and was quiet, Ziebell was brought in at times but didnt really do a heap either. Only Cunnington and Jed were doing anything. I remember on that night thinking how we need more mids while these young guys are learning the ropes.

Tyson fills a hole for us given guys like Jacobs have barely played in the last 3 years and our young guys are very inexperienced. Given Pruess has demanded to go to Melbourne i think we take him with open arms

Maybe. Probably likely actually. It was specifically mentioned this morning that his brother's back in Melbourne though. Is there another brother? Dunno why I care TBH.

Off topic, anyone else slightly annoyed that Fat Hutch running trade eon and has installed Sam McUseless on at 9AM and at 6PM and trolled the **** out of us by partnering him up with Dal and Boomer?

Would Kayle Kirby as a small forward option be worth a look? Decent player in the VFL, but heart problems took him out for the season. Is uncontracted atm, Would the club take that risk?

No doubt he fills a stat need but you don’t invest in a pick 4 mid and not expect them to impact by year 2.

Doesn't really feel like he's worth the risk even if he could get through the season with his health issues. He's going to be playing very warily now, may not even want to play on.

Going after Gaff and Polec and now Pittard and Tyson is all to do with addressing the gaping hole in our list and thats players in the 100-200 game category (or in our case 90-225). The more players we have in this bracket then the higher likelihood that we will be a genuine contender. We have 13 with that level of experience and thats Thompson, Goldi, Higgins, Ziebell, Cunnington, Atley, Tarrant, MacMillan, Wright and Williams, Brown, McDonald and Jacobs.
Doing a recap of our drafting in the past 9 drafts since Brad was appointed coach and who is still at the club - its a high turnover rate. From 2010-2012 we brought 29 players into the club and only 5 remain. Thats alarming.

Polec (106) Hall (103) Tyson (107) Pittard (126) takes that figure to 17. I think we are setting up for a period of sustained success. Kelly will be the ideal replacement for Higgins long term and if Xerri becomes the understudy for Goldstein then we are in good shape.

Fair enough. I’m just considering that the club should look at uncontracted players from other clubs who can play that small forward role that we need.

If Connors moves on Beams it might trigger something if anything at all with Kelly
You never know

There are a lot of people going around who if they stepped out in front of me, I might speed up at. But I won't name names, because no-one would know them here and anyway, it might just happen one day and I don't want to be proved guilty by posting my intentions here.
