Apparently Gaff was keen to wait until the Eagles' B&F (John Worsfold Medal) this Friday to announce it officially, as he wanted to say a proper goodbye and do it with some grace and class. That also coincides with the Syd Barker occurring at the same time here in Melbourne (albeit a couple of hours earlier due to Melb-Perth time difference), so the Syd Barker evening would have ended with news that Gaff was coming.

However now all parties are scrambling a bit because the cat is firmly out of the bag. So now there is a bit of uncertainty about how/when to announce it and whether or not Gaff should still attend the John Worsfold ceremony.

Again, this is not from my primary source, but aligns with a couple of other things I've heard so thought I'd pass it along.

Dumont was awesome this year tho so he'd be hard to dislodge.

Forwardline is looking seriously underpowered. Can't trust Wood to stay fit, Ziebell's goalkicking is suspect and Atley/Higgins aren't huge goalkickers (although capable).
