When teams travel to Geelong from interstate do they fly to Tulla or Avalon?
Avalon is closer to KP than Tulla is to the MCG.
It would make sense for the SA/NSW/Gold Coast teams to do it , but
there are no direct flights between Perth or Brisbane and Avalon. I wonder if this is one reason why we haven’t played in Geelong much lately (Then again , it’s not as if the lack of direct flights has stopped us from playing in Tassie).

I personally find it insane that, if the AFL are going to send teams to all parts of the country, that they can't organise for their MAJOR PARTNER - an AIRLINE - to provide a special direct flight.

This is what I would like to see, eventhough I doubt it would happen
- FTA games spread across all teams (In 2018, Gold Coast and Brisbane had only 1 Channel Seven match each- Channel Ten did a great job broadcasting interstate teams as much as the Victorian teams)
- Saturday Night Q-Clash to be shown on Channel Seven (The Rivalry has grown in recent times and it is always a fierce battle. Both teams always come to play and want to win the Q-Clash)
- Friday Night Derby and Showdown (2 Derbies that are always a showcase! They deserve to be up in lights on Friday Night!)
- More Interstate matches on Friday Nights (Port Adelaide v West Coast will be an outlier in Friday Night matches. The AFL rarely have 2 interstate teams playing each other in Friday Night Football)

We do through Virgin as a club sponsor. They even sell leftover space to the cheersquad cheap. Do not know which airports they use. It's conceivable they'd use Tullamarine because Virgin has a terminal there.

I know, says so in article. We are talking home and away, it's only ever been done for Geelong.
Was done once, and the remainder of the seats were sold to members. Not sure if it was a Geelong initiative or an AFL one, but not reason why WA couldn't ask for it.

There's an issue with national exposure I guess. But bear in mind all the NSW club's games are on FTA in NSW, and I believe it's the same in Queensland.

I'm not a big fan if national FTA coverage for us. It's noticeable how much negativity around us there is from Vic commentators that pisses me off when we are. I think the club marketing dept may well have a different view, but I hate it.

Mate virgin put on a direct flight to whatever city the AFL club is playing in, even if that route is not usually flown

Did I hear a rumour that the AFL delayed the announcement because some teams weren't happy - what are they doing? Making amendments on the fly?
And in the process upsetting other teams.

Baffling to think this was the case given clubs would have been given multiple drafts prior to this.

Also why is the fixturing such a drawn out process if the AFL can essentially re-do it in under 24 hours, as they have this week?
