2019 Fixture released

Just read some head muppet at AFL House saying they had unashamedly backed Essendon in for next season. Everything that is wrong with the AFL in a microcosm there.

Every year they try to pick winners via fixture and fail and they never learn. Spread the games evenly, double up slots for 2018 top 8 teams - it's pretty simple.

Collingwood and Essendon play each other twice
Collingwood and Richmond play each other twice
Richmond and Carlton play each other twice

Collingwood v Carlton, Essendon v Richmond, Essendon v Carlton just once.

This is in line with league average fixturing and notable that not too many complaining, whereas it seemed like a birthright even five years ago

No Thursday or Friday night games for the entire season.

GC and Carlton twice.

Apart from the mid-season horror show of China > Home > Townsville, I'm pretty happy with our fixture.

The fixture is a commercial beast.

The AFL uses Collingwood to push into the development markets of QLD and NSW, we always play Sydney in Sydney and play the Giants, Lions and Suns more often than we do the WA and SA teams...as the AFL wants to hype up games in NSW and QLD.

Would much rather travel to Freo than cop Sydney in Sydney every year.
That's a bit rich. I have no bitch with yours being mostly prime time given success and the size of your club.

Collingwood have travelled to Spotless a bit but we'd prefer to play you at the G. You're not the worst drawing club at our place, but also not noticeably better than the Bombers, Blues, Hawks and Cats. The Spotless non derby record is actually held by an Eagles H/A game in 2016.

Fixture difficulty (Champion Data - based on double-ups)

When we lift the trophy in September, there can be no doubt about the legitimacy of the title

Hmm,without the Collingwood umpiring troupe?

Collingwood has contractual obligations to play 17 games in Melbourne (14 MCG, 3 Marvel).
That leaves 5 interstate trips. One to each of WA, SA, NSW, QLD, and one double up game. The AFL's preference is for that double up game to be in either NSW or QLD in order to promote the game in the northern states.

You have to admit though it's a ****ing disgrace that any club, with full approval of the AFL, can enter into a contract to do with the location of its away games.
I do appreciate that a lot of Victorian clubs request home games against Collingwood which is going to skew the draw if the league complies with those requests.

Geelong 9 home games at Kardinia Park, what a joke. They should get 3 maximum. This easy draw will mean Geelong will finish 7th or 8th again, meaning a club that deserves finals will miss out.Geelong then get smashed in the first final for the 4th year in a row.Absolute BS.

Home team gets home games in home city. What a shock.

Collingwood with the hardest draw in the competition according to Champion Data. At least we don’t have to listen to the whole soft draw BS from opposition fans.

Interesting that 3 of the final 4 teams from last year have 3 of the top 5 toughest draws, but one other has the 6 easiest draw in the competition.

That's a soft troll. Richmond get 17 games in their home city, Geelong hugely duded to only get the 9.

What do you want them to do? We’re bigger than Jesus. It’s just the way it is.
