Sign up to Kayo as they have a 2 week trial then after the game cancel the service.

Will it even be on Kayo? Channel 7 have exclusive rights. Telstra have the streaming rights so an AFL Live Pass is probably the only streaming option.
Kayo is the Foxtel stream. Game won't be available on there until after it's already finished due to the Channel 7 exclusive rights.

Might be on 7mate.

I’m not feeling any nerves at all it’s weird I didn’t in 2017 either.
I felt horrendous pre last years Prelim though?
Also I know everyone says if you lose a GF it’s the worst but honestly losing to Geelong in a Prelim would have e been the worst. This just feels like a free hit to me now.
Still hate the thought of losing, but imagine if Geelong or Collingwood had won it!!!
Really we have already won this year.
Trouble is if we don’t win this year and then can’t get back to the big dance in the next few years we will look back and see it as a missed opportunity. Got to win multiples while you have the chance!

Let’s be honest though, the way GWS celebrated is how we celebrated in 2017 when we made the Grand Final. It’s their maiden Grand Final berth so I’m not surprised they celebrated like that.

You’d probably not celebrate hard when you know what heartbreak after winning a Premiership feels like (e.g. Richmond of 2018). I agree though, I think we as a team are only satisfied with a Premiership this season.
Only natural to celebrate any win like that when you are under the pump like they were for the last 5 minutes and this game had a bit more of a reward at the end of it than just 4 points.
The relief when the siren went would have been immense. I’m sure they would have reacted a bit differently if they had a regulation 20 point win.

GWS paid for the Twitter trend.
Going viral - for a price!
Coniglio is done, Davis injured, Whitfield suspect.
One or two tackles and Whitfield will be done.
GWS would have rocks in their heads to play him.
I just switch off any media promoting GWS, it's all baloney.
Our boys are calm, collected and experienced and should get the job done.

Can sit beside lids. Both maybe questioning their choices. Treloar however has time to make amends. That’s not the case for lids.
We’ll Lids is missing this one due to injury and who knows if we would have got there in 17 with him or if he would have been fit anyway.
He was cooked when he left us and may have already been retired if he had stayed.
Terloar left coming into his prime years. As you said though, plenty of time left for him.

Just heard an amazing story about GWS supporters. GWS are aligned with some Victorian country football and netball clubs. They send them orange gear and the clubs call themselves the Giants. Anyway, last week the call went out. Put your name down to go in the ballot for a free ticket to the Preliminary Final. Only condition was that you needed to sit in the GWS cheer section and wear your orange shirt. Needless to say, plenty of Collingwood and neutral supporters took them up on the offer.

I don't know if they have pulled the same trick for the GF. The lengths the AFL will go to......

[EDIT: one of our old friends provided a bit more context -

Years ago at a function Sheedy was at, he explained a mini project he was working on.

He said one of the biggest challenges for the Giants is noone grew up watching for following the Giants, they had no legacy in the community. As such, they needed to create one.

The plan was simple, any club around the country who agreed to rebrand as the "XXXXX Giants" would get new kit and funding for the rebrand. It worked really well because not only did it get the name out into the community at a lot of junior, suburban, and country clubs, it also helped out a lot of struggling clubs by getting them desperately needed new gear.

and strategies like the free tickets, its actually not about getting a rent a crowd. everything they do like this is about getting kids to games, and conversion (either to AFL, or switching teams). their whole focus is building a massive junior supporter base, so that when they eventually grow up, they are sticky with the club and more likely to be an active supporter.

Been to a number of GWS games at Homebush, and the surprise is how many kids are there. They have tonnes of them, and its the closest Ive come at an AFL game to having a genuine community feel.

Compared to the likes of the dogs, saints, and kangas, they are not assuming geography or success will grow support. They know it comes from participation and connection.

On the topic of the mascot:

Every league has a magpies, a tigers, a bombers, etc. Those mascots are seen as genuine because they are everywhere in leagues across the country. The same needs to happen for the Giants. Before 2012, what the fu** was a Giant? they had no connection to aussie rules. spreading the brand nationally is all about breaking down the "plastics" perception in future years.]
From what I hear they’ve done great things for their community and junior football.

I admire what they’re trying to do and if they were up against anyone but Richmond I’d be 100% behind them, however they’re up against Richmond this year and I hope we knock them back to Sydney.
