I think the only person pushing this is Chris '5 minutes of fame' Pelchin.

Still dines out on being at the Hawks during a successful period. Was (IMO) over-rated as a recruiter and list manager. Bucky and GW built the Hawks list far better than Pelchin ever did.

Whispers of the proposal from Hawthorn is pick 2 for 11 and Smith with the Suns then moving pick 11 for B Crouch as well.

So the compo pick for them would result in Smith and B Crouch.

No way that gets it done.

You would need Smith + 11 + something valuable for pick 2.

Even if you're just looking at the points value, pick 2 is about 2,500 and pick 11 is about half that at 1,300. Smith at the age of 31 this December doesn't bridge that gap.

Also take into account the fact that Suns got pick 2 as a handout. They need any trade for that pick to look extremely good from the perspective of the AFL.

EDIT: Aaaannd Brad Crouch is worth more than a pick 11.

yeah never is a stretch but it will take something pretty special to get it done. Reckon it would take someone considered in their prime (25-26 years old) that is known for being a leader and can win games off their own boot. Would take 2007 Chris Judd to get that pick not 2019 Smith/Gunston/Breust

Gunston will not be traded, he will not agree to any trade as he has a long term contract, nor will the club ask him to be traded. So neither he nor the Hawks want to trade him = no trade.
