Why the mouth watering over Anderson? Is it just because his dad played for us?

Dean works for St Kilda
Noah is a Richmond supporter.

Noah isn't the best kid in the draft.

Why are we so hung up about getting him? There have been more talented kids in drafts and we haven't looked to go after them?
What like O'meara? Who we tried to trade for but afl blocked and then we eventually got.

Or O'rourke, Scrimshaw and Scully.

Before that Gunston.

All players we wanted to draft but didn't have the picks but watched thier careers and kept in contact in the event that it became possible to trade for them.

Gaff was another that Clarkson wanted but hadn't been able to pull off.

Pelican is so out of touch it's not funny... Noah aint coming.
How farfetched could it be? our recruiters would obviously know how talented he is and we have shown over and over again we are happy to pay overs to get our guy. (burgoyne,JOM,wingard)

If hes the guy then do whatever it takes imo.

Consider:

- We unexpectedly lost Rioli to retirement
- Puopolo is likely cooked
- Wingard is more suited to the midfield
- Impey will be injured for most of the season
- Minchington has hamstrings made of paper (and likely will not be on the list)
- Hanrahan is inconsistent & Moore is smart but slow

If we trade Breust we will weaken ourselves in an area we are only getting weaker. Our only dedicated small forward will be Hanrahan. Despite his age I think Bruest is too positionally important for us to trade.

If you guys are adamant on proposing hypotheticals for Noah I would suggest using Gunston or McEvoy instead. I’m not advocating the idea - just saying Breust plays a position we’re sorely lacking depth in and at his best is elite in that position.

It all depends on "why" they were given the package they were given by the AFL.. was it to draft kids (aka the best mates at 1 or 2) or was it to give them ammo to go out and get mature, experienced leaders....

I would probably accept that deal too, it would be with a heavy heart though...
Well Gold Coast are linked to a heap of established players now so many of those picks will be traded away.

I think the zero restriction thing is so gold coast have options and don't get backed into a corner with a pick they have to trade and overpay for Ellis or greenwood.

My gold coast connections tell me that we are after 1 of their player and them after 1 of ours. We also want to get a hold of a draft pick from them.

I cant see them letting it go unless it is an absolute stud coming back the other way. We simply dont have the ability to get it done in my opinion

Please be Fiorini or Powell

It’s not worth selling the farm for Anderson.

If we are selling the farm, wouldn't it be better to target Rowell anyway? So, if we do sell the farm, sell it for Pick 1 and be done with it.

Hawks have been talking Anderson up for 12 months.

If we consider/rate him as a 10 year star then we will be going all in.

We will need to lose a premiership star plus our pick 11 to make it happen.

Problem is, a premiership player has to want to go there.

Really?

If they pick up crouch and a couple of other mature bodies and add Rowell then why wouldn’t they look very very hard at a leader like Gunston for 3-4 years to try and bring it all together???

They have tried the kids route and none of them stay. Until they see a glimmer of hope they will always believe it is a short term stay.

The problem lies in which Premiership star (and their desire to go there).

Smith + 11 likely wouldn’t get it done.
They’ve shown interest in McEvoy but McEvoy + 11 doesn’t get it done.
Breust + 11 would but IMO we pay overs + Bruest plays a position we’re already lacking in.
Gunston + 11 would and we’re stocked for third tall types. But when at his best (he certainly wasn’t this year) he’s our best forward and we were already struggling to kick goals this year.

But any of them would need to agree to go to the GC first.

Going wide on this hypothetical, but any thoughts we're making a play for Gaff at all?

Clauses in his contract which can make him extractable, our pick 10 gets WC and Kelly over the line.

Sheed would seemingly cover Gaff superbly, Kelly gives them extra run and grunt..in other words he's probably not as valued as say a Mcgovern or Darling, structure wise and ability to cover his position, personnel wise. Also worth mentioning Clarko was in Perth recently.

Would be an ideal fit for us.
Stranger things have happened...

If we can get Anderson for what Aramis proposed above (Breust, Smith + Pick 11 for Pick 2 + Pick 15) then I guarantee you that the sadness in missing our on Coniglio will be an afterthought. If we end up being able to draft Anderson, Maginness and either a McCasey or Gould then our young stocks will be set for a long time to come. On top of that you have to remember that next year we'll likely be bringing in Downie and Pepper as well.

As someone mentioned above its unlikely that the Suns would consider this but if they did then as much as losing Breust and Smith would hurt in the short term the long term outlook would be unbelievable and I for one would love to be able to see Clarko get to coach a new batch of talented youngsters. I kind of feel tat Clarko needs that challenge too but I guess we'll have to wait the next couple of weeks to see what direction we take.

If he wanted to come, he should've come last year for free

I gauged interest on the Gold Coast board and was heavily rebuked... picks are the only thing they have so they value them like ancient artifacts.

Someone raised a good point above that Breust may be too valuable and him leaving may leave us a little thin in small forwards. Could we stomach a Gunston leaving? Gunston, Smith + Pick 11 for Pick 2 + Pick 15?
