Who told you they were down?
Bloody hell dont you read this thread and board. People saying I haven't signed up, they are predicting a decent fall in numbers. We rush out every mid November with figures splashed on our website. This year nothing. No explanation why.

People need to stop believing that BigFooty represents the greater majority of PAFC fan/supporter/cling on/member.

Who said it represents the greater majority?

It represents a significant chunk of fans, as people talk about their family experience on here, and those family members have nothing to do with big footy, plus they talk to other Port fans who have nothing to do with big footy and talk about their experiences, not just talk about their own personal ones.

Good to hear that the membership numbers are on par with this time last year (within 200).

Looks like there aren't as many "I'll teach the club a lesson" types as some on here would like to believe

I’m very surprised to hear that after how easy (and early) it was for me to change my Vic membership into decent reserved seats at AO. I thought we’d be down by at least 5k.

Do you know what the current figure is?

I wonder how many awkward questions/statements about the game plan/coach the players will get in tonight's 'Telethon'.

What puzzles me about this exercise though is that they plan to ring 5000 registered members, but the 4 teams are going to battle it out to sign the most members o_O

Maybe it's members who haven't renewed that they will be ringing.

I hope Jack Watts rings me.

That should be around 95% of the calls, with around 5% for thank yous. I got a thank you call in the 2013 membership drive from Matthew Nicks and had a good chat. Haven't received another one yet and don't expect to for awhile, as 5% per year suggests it takes 20 years to get another one.

Significant?

What % do you think?
500 or so regular visitors and contributors who are members, 500 -1000 casual visitors who are either members or just fans and times that by 5-10 people per person for their family members and mates they talk about footy with, and feed stuff back into Bigfooty.

1,200 people - sure properly stratified - is the sample size used by survey companies for the whole nation or even a group of a lot less than 25 million people.

10-15% is considered significant. Its why anyone with 10-20% of an ASX company ie a significant but not majority shareholder, usually can control it.

I got offered 4 seats in a 5 seat radius from were I sit for my kids so my guess is that we have to be down on last year. Or maybe the people on waiting lists are enough to fill the gaps. Doubt it though.

Where can I find the membership tally. Or where did you find the numbers?

Yeah, that tally should be up by now. Would be a very bad look if the numbers are hidden.

We have 60000 members. 6000 of them don't come to Bigfooty. Not even by 2 degrees of seperation.

https://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/will-you-be-renewing-for-2019.1202290/

I also don't see 500 different people posting about not renewing etc...
187 individual posters
Hell we only had 259 people voting
109 didn't say yes. And only 68 were downgrading/cancelling.

Your numbers are flawed.

I don't have the time, or inclination, to work it now, but no way BigFooty makes up 10% of our PAFC fan base.

Would be lucky to be 5%.. closer to 3%

I actually upgraded mine this year. Went from essential platinum in the western stand, to black diamond. Glad to finally have a seat and not have to come in early. Still up in the air wether it was the right move in terms of a money spent to enjoyment experienced ratio though.

I never said 10% come here. I said - represents. I know about 25 Port members outside of big footy, and only 2 or 3 occasionally visit here. That is ignoring the members I have met through Big footy.

Those of us who regularly contribute here are at the extreme right side of the distribution curve. I have even posted a graphic of a distribution curve with the right hand side circled on here, saying that's where Bigfooty posters are situated on the distribution curve of our members.

But plenty of people have contributed about friends and family not renewing - ie the ones that don't come onto big footy - about those friends and family downgrading, about themselves as well as friends and family being able to change seats when they haven't been able to in the past.

The overwhelming majority of auto renewals will auto renewal, but others are pissed off and waiting or have given up. The mad rush in the past, to put the numbers up and update them almost daily, compared to now having nothing 45 days after auto renewals has finished and reserving your seat date has passed, leads one to be skeptical of whether we have indeed dropped off.

The Friday before the first home game, I expect us to be in that 90-95% range of figure recorded the Friday before the first home game this year.

at the end of the day the numbers are down and the feeling amongst the supporters is down, what are you even arguing?

The numbers may be similar, but the income from the memberships will be considerably down. Lots of people are downgrading their memberships.
I upgraded my daughter from GA to reserved, but she took someone else's adult reserved seat, so revenue is down for that seat.

I'm the same, but that means we're maintaining the numbers if those who jump off are replaced.

Yeah, I read it... I just don’t buy into all of the crap that is all too often posted on here!

BF is such a small representation of the larger PAFC community and in fact, 90% of the membership base have probably never even heard of BF let alone logged on and contribute.

I reckon a few on here may well be a bit surprised at how little significance BF has when the club is concerned.
