It's good to be up, but that can mask so much. What categories of Membership? Did they open up people on waiting lists getting seats earlier? Have they sold more 11 game memberships now, by reducing the number of 3 game memberships (and hence final total)?

It's a positive, but without context of how positive.

Never been more proud of our supporter base. Ever since our SB grew in 2014 I've been concerned about how our supporters would react if we had few dissapointing years but it looks like having a home that feels like ours in Adelaide Oval has galvanised our members for good

4 x 10-14 win seasons doesn't have the same negative impact as 4 x 4-8 win seasons.

Well looking back at last years membership thread we were at 43,630 on December 5, so we’re at the about the same place as last year.

Yes they started making offers to the Wait List about a week or so before the November 30 deadline for seat holds. I was told that some people had downgraded or outright cancelled their memberships, hence the early offer. I thought our early numbers would take a big hit as a result but it seems they’ve been able to maintain them, but as you pointed out that’s only part of the story i.e. has our $$ per member also been maintained?

It would be shocking to have more members this year than last. Missing finals and losing two of the more exciting players doesn't usually result in a higher membership base.

A repeat of 2011/12 would be the true test of member resilience. Still there were plenty of things that could’ve got people offside this year so credit where it’s due.

Lol you just know that the board will be like "we should stop the China experiment as it's causing supporter negativity" instead of "shit. We actually aren't making the most of this opportunity and our supporters know it. Lets fix that."

Yeah, but in recent years we've had a side in its prime that should be contending for flags but have instead underperformed time and time again. IMO that's worse than a very young inexperienced side with hardly any resources behind them struggling to put any wins on the board

Nah people want to see competitive footy at a minimum.

That's what we have been under Ken, a middle class, highly competitive side who doesn't have the killer attitude players to win more close games. Look how many games we have lost by a goal or two at AO.

I make it 9 + another 4 by less than 3 goals to make it 13 of our 26 loses at AO being close. So if you go by less than 4 goals ( ie around 45% of AFL games are won by less than 24 pts) that's another 6 games, so 19 out of 26 loses have been by basically on average between 1 pt to 1 goal a quarter less than the oppo. That's competitive and keeps people coming back with hope.

People wont turn up - in big numbers - when we have tactically inept coaching and players who aren't competitive and there is not much hope.

As frustrating as Ken's tenure has been, we have always been competitive for the overwhelming majority of the the games in each of his 6 seasons.

Well you/I better hope you're wrong because if our membership numbers dip considerably and our attendance average goes under 30,000 again for a few years then unless we hit a pot of gold off field then you can kiss this club goodbye because I don't think the AFL is gonna bail us out once again and I wouldn't blame them, I'd blame our shit supporter base

I said that us members need full disclosure on what has occurred with the search for a joint major sponsor in the last 12 months and what is the real financial impact on the China initiative.

No more spin, we need to be told the truth.
