I think I may have misread the article, bit embarrassing, but I am quite sleep deprived this week lol.

Would of been a total shock if Carlton v Richmond didn't eventuate. Only fixture leaks I've seen posted so far is Saints v North Round 1 and Brisbane v North Round 2. Should be more leaks next week. My complete guess is we're either playing Geelong or Sydney away first round.

I found the article on the main board after you posted here. The AFL is certainly trying to talk up St. Kilda, even if they’re not giving them the season opener. I’ll take Sydney thanks.

Not a leak so much, but pretty sure Brisbane v Collingwood on Easter Thursday has been locked in by the AFL.

Will take Sydney away over Geelong away every day of the week

I'd take Sydney away. AFL would love to have West Coast play Geelong in Geelong for the TK factor

I was intrigued as well, 2005 he was sacked! Might be a Smokey to replace Cheika.

Still 2 years to go on his England contract, but they should be doing everything to try to get him.

He might not want to come if the flogs that got him sacked are still on the board, which must be the worst ruling sporting body in Australia at the moment.

Western Force and Andrew Forrest say Hi.

North Melbourne vs St Kilda to happen in Round 1 it seems. The AFL perhaps trying to give the Saints some early momentum, but I'd love nothing more than to see the Kangaroos stomp the Saints into the ground.

Geelong players have talked about fudging the results too. I’m pretty sure it has been widespread across a few clubs. Maybe with a bit more education the players will take the preseason tests more seriously.
I think the Afl won’t be to upset if he & others are found to have fudged the testing. With this class action led by John Barnes coming they’re going to want to find a way to put it back onto the players & reduce liability.

You have to feel bad for Melbourne, having to travel to Perth in Round 1 to play what will likely be a reinvigorated West Coast team who'll be looking to make their mark instantly. Yes, Melbourne competed with West Coast in their two meetings this year, but we could be seeing the first thrashing of the season real early.

And a charmed start at home for a top 6 team playing this years 17th team

I hope if Freo ever wins we all go completely the other way and be really nice about it all. Just patronise the shit out of them and deny them any salt.

'So happy for you guys, I wish I could remember our first flag'.

I don't think this nuffie realises that any rational Fremantle fan would be happy with them congratulating us. Some of them don't really think things though do they.

They are getting bored over there on their board , So the Opposition thread has just turned into it's usual Freo hate fest .

At least in Union they are proper scrums. League scrums are a joke and need to be fixed.
Sorry, but I call bullshit on the 'proper scrums', although I agree they are far superior to what they call 'scrums' in RL.

In Union, the rule used to be the 'put in' had to be straight in the middle of the pack, to give both scrums equal opportunity to win the ball. The advantage came from the half-back being able to 'code' how far in/where/who should take first swipe at the ball once it was in there. Now they just do a rugby league and the half-back just puts the ball at the feet of the second rowers of their scrum. Does my flipping head in.

Yeah it gets ugly, especially with the deliberate collapsing and general gamesmanship that goes on around it. Easily the worst aspect of what I think is a great game, and would love them to find a fix for it.

Agree 100%. The double movement and the sliding tries annoy me a bit too, but not as much as the ridiculous nature of scrums and how they are refereed at the moment.

I guess it's a bit like footy - Bring back the good old days!

I just hate it when the fairness has been taken out of the game. It means there's no call for the scrums to really be used at all, when the outcome of who wins the ball is pretty much pre-determined anyway. There's no need for as much skill and teamwork within the forwards when it comes to their main job on the field.

Without knowing a thing about rugby, it would seem like a scrum really opens the field up drawing so many players to one spot and the team that could exploit some pace advantage on the fat side of the ground would enjoy their use.

That's the only reason League have them as far as I can tell.

It definitely does that and becomes a point that set plays are built around. The line outs as well. Set plays are a major factor in rugby and you get a wonderful view of them unfolding and being countered. I would hate for that to be reduced or lost.
