Jamie Elliot in the forward line make my team look so much better in the midfield. 57 from 55% TOG & 66 from 64% TOG in both JLT games yet he averages 80% TOG through his career. Has scored between 76-86 in the last 3 seasons he played and 6 6 6 rules will help his scoring potential.

Trading Worpel to Elliot saves 100k and they should have similar scores. The thing that holds me back is no one seems keen for Elliot when he has so much value.
Yep. Elliot's "normalised' JLT scores accounting for his avergar TOG was 84 and 84

Good luck to those getting him in but I found getting Crisp in last year was a bit of a disaster. Didn't really seem to get many cheap marks back there, what made things worse is the week I got him was the week Brayshaw went big in Alice Springs. I can still see the appeal in him though for those who didn't touch him last year.

And what are people's thoughts on me having Callum Mills at D2? Think he can average 90 and with Smith and Williams at D3+4 I don't think it looks thaaaat bad.

What are your guys thoughts on Billings? Burnt a lot of people last year but then came home string and looks to have a nice wing role this year. What do you see him averaging and could he be a top 6 forward?

I’m on him. I like his role, finish to last year, and ease of fixtures (at least up until the bye). Think Ross is first tagged at this stage as well. Don’t think he will be top 6 but should push that

I like that idea. Think he will improve this year and ‘should’ get that midfield time this year that he has been earmarked to get for the last few years. Looked solid in the middle in JLT 1 and first quarter of JLT 2. Was moved into backline from quarter 2 onwards but could be because Lloyd was missing? Either way it’s a mild worry but still think with his natural progression and the fact I think Sydney will regress a little this year means the ball could spend more time in the backline for them. So it may not be all doom and gloom if he does get plonked there at certain times. I mean he did end up scoring decent still to finish JLT 2 off

Is this midfield too weak?
V on Walsh for his 130 on debut

Personally don't think so.

Brouch and Liba should quite easily be able to put up 90+ numbers. If you think Sheed can improve to a premium sort of level then his spot is justified. Certainly looks like he can. Walsh is a no brainer. Think Scott is the next best rookie in regards to scoring potential, hopefully he is named. Could easily swap him out with Constable (if named), Atkins, Drew (if you want DPP) .etc.

Nah, I like it. Scott out for Rocky and Libba out for Cousins, and that's exactly my midfield, haha

Had to pull Crae yesterday to strengthen other areas on field.
Feeling pretty confident and have as good a coverage as I can with what rooks are available.

If JLT form is anything to go by, its a cracking midfield!

I just have one question tho...

Why Liberatore and not Cousins?
Very JLT reactionary midfield haha.
Bray, Libba and Walsh are the only originals.

Just feel like Libba will be more consistent and will have better JS over the long run.

You think Cousins is better value than Lib? I'm struggling between the two as well. Personally thought Cousins looked horrible in the last half against Tigers the other night though and that worries me

You are probably right on the JS. I do feel that Libba and Cousins will average about the same. I suppose it depends on how long you need them for before you upgrade.

Lib has proven he can average 90+. Cousins has proven nothing

Yep. This is why I have Lib currently. Think he has looked good as well and fixtures for Dogs midfielders are pretty good to start the season. Makes starting without Macrae that much harder though

...and whilst this is true, you would have to say that it is not unreasonable given the circumstances that Cousins averages 80, which is not bad for a player priced at 45.

Which is why I ask the question as to the intentions for Liberatore.

Cousins potentially makes money faster, and I don't think I'm keen on running either player through to the byes. So 'potentially' cousins could get you to that upgrade earlier.

He could also not play round 1/ be dropped after a bad game. No such worries with lib

So taking into account a weighted average analysis (including normalised JLT scores and various broken down 2018 averages) my spreadsheet has spat out the following "Rolling Best 22" to compete with the Roy-actionary 22 - by the way you will not be seeing Rocky in this 22 I can tell you that.

DEFENCE: Laird, Lloyd, Whitfield, Crisp, Hurn, Shaw - Fringe, Sicily, Williams, Smith

MIDFIELD: Macrae, Coniglio, Brayshaw, Oliver, Treloar, M. Crouch, Sidebottom, Cripps, Selwood - Fringe, Beams, Yeo, Gibbs

RUCK: Grundy, Gawn - Fringe, Martin, Goldstein

FORWARD: Dangerfield, Menegola, Westhoff, Dunkley, Heeney, Smith - Fringe, Boak, Billings, Robinson

I think the most important thing in the Pre-season is to ensure you have any many "best 22" as possible. In that vein, my side currently has:

DEF: 2 B22, 2 Fringe
MID: 3 B22
RUC: 1 B22, 1 Fringe
FWD: 3 B22

Totalling, 10 potential keepers out of a total 22, close to half the side. I'm not unhappy with that. Obviously I could very easily trun my three mid priced midfielders into a premium and rookies and probably grab another MB22 and FB22 but the value is hard to pass up and with rookies this season, probably necessary.
