David Armitage, 31. Retired from St Kilda but mentioned he would look to continue elsewhere. QLD boy, and I remember mentioning him a few years ago as a possible get. Would be best served at GC but would add Midfield depth especially if we lose a few NEAFL boys like Keays & Cutler. Would come for nothing & be a decent cover for an injury to Lyons or Neale.

Nope, past it. If he was any good still then Saints would have kept him.

AFL.com.aus Trade news has popped up talking about Nick Robertson on their podcast thing tonight, heading home maybe?

He’s pretty much a depth player as it stands; if it’s true I would understand why he’d seek opportunity elsewhere/back home. Though it would have to be Freo as I can’t see where he’d fit in at the Eagles.

Freo would be my first thoughts. Any QLDers on their list I wonder, or just a late pick?

Armitage, Daisy Thomas, Isaac Smith, Mason Wood. Really?

Jesus, you’d think we were struggling to get a team on the park.
yep do not need anyone for depth. Maybe Ruck??..
We need to draft players who dislodge our current 22 like last year. Adams-Walker, Neale-Beams, Lyons-Matho, McCarthy-Taylor.

You have to think we have depth in the NEAFL for most spots apart from Ruck.
Players like Taylor, Matho, N Robbo, Cutler, Lester, Walker, Basti, Keays, Alison, Cox, Hinge , Starc, A Smith all got senior games last few years and fringe players at the moment.
They will need to improve to take a top 22 spot, although good depth for injuries.
Really depends if some want to stay knowing they are second in line at the moment and spurs them on or go down the highway and get a game

As harsh as it sounds Robbo almost has to decide whether he wants to play his days out in the NEAFL or return home and play them out in the WAFL. Bonus for him would be getting a game with Freo. No disrespect to him but it seems would take a fair few injuries or poor form for him to get back in to our seniors. Good problem to have though.

GWS are after Robertson to “fill a role” according to the AFL podcast.
I can see that if Shaw is retiring. They don't have a steady mid-sized defensive presence down there.

Edit: actually he'd be a very much like for like replacement for Tomlinson, adding a hardness but removing the ruck chop out ability, for a fraction of the price.

That's it then, part of the trade for Zac Williams.

Done deal, where do we sign?

Wonder if they want to try and make him into a Robinson clone, sort of winger/tagging role for them. Interesting though if they WANT him we may try and actually get some value.

interesting thing is in the NEAFL Nick Robbo plays a lot forward and more through the midfield.
I think he shows something not playing off HB and being offensive. So he might find a spot elsewhere in a AFL 22.

Sad for Robbo, he tries hard but his skills are just not good enough. He has watched a first year player in Answerth just blitz past him into the senior team.

Mmm, Answerth is the big one thats put the stops on Robbo being best 22. And thats no slight on him, Answerth just has a better skill set and didnt skip a beat when given his shot.

I have to say though, Im surprised its GWS, its not a list I would have thought he'd get a place in for their 22, but they may have a better plan for him.
They're going for a stars and role players team. Big attraction would be Robbo being on relatively small $$$.

Pick wise I’d think around pick 40 for Robertson would be fair

You serious? For comparative purposes GC got a future second round for Saad, which may well be 50+. Darcy Lang went to Carlton for pick 58 - much better comparison for mine.

I've always thought the extra freedom as a forward was where Robbo would find his niche but just doesn't quite have the skill set compared to others at our club. I'd still rather him there than in the backline.
