Round 15/16 to be affected by the olympic games. Will be interesting how TV Audiences hold up during those 2 rounds.
Round 19-21
Does anyone give a shit about the Olympics these days? The last Olympics TV ratings were dismal.
Probably because all the big events happened in the morning. This time they will all be in prime time

Vic clubs benefit from having the game in Melbourne?
Didn't seem to bother West Coast last year, or the Swans in 2012.

If you want to flip it around the other way, have a look at the enormous advantage non-Victorian clubs get in the home and away season. Playing in stadiums that are almost exclusively barracking for the home team. Teams like mine do not enjoy that sort of advantage throughout the year. This Vic bias is a load of BS.
no point talking sense to a crows fan

Considering the Olympics next year are taking place in a similar time zone to ours for a change, I think it will rate its socks off. I know plenty of people who have booked their tickets to Japan.

Brisbane finish 5th and get the 13th hardest draw.

Hawthorn finish 9th and get the 2nd hardest draw.

The AFL is so inept. Just shorten or lengthen the season for fu**s sake so each team can play each other either once or twice.

You taking champion datas "rankings" as meaningful is the main problem here. Last year champion data rated playing Melbourne as one of the hardest games and Brisbane as one of the easiest. It's not a serious measure of anything.

CHAMPION DATA’S RANKING OF THE 2020 DRAW (HARDEST TO EASIEST)

1. West Coast Eagles
2. Hawthorn
3. Gold Coast Suns
4. Essendon
5. GWS Giants
6. Carlton
7. Richmond
8. North Melbourne
9. Geelong Cats
10. St Kilda
11. Collingwood
12. Western Bulldogs
13. Brisbane Lions
14. Port Adelaide
15. Adelaide Crows
16. Melbourne
17. Sydney Swans
18. Fremantle
Comes third last.. get's 6th hardest draw. Sounds fair.

In no way do Hawthorn have the 2nd hardest draw.

Geelong, Brisbane, Port, North, Sydney.

Middle of the road draw for a middle of the road team. Seems very fair.

This is the same Champion Data that overrate Essendon every single year right?

I haven't looked at the respective draws you are referring to, but you can't honestly believe those ratings though, can you?

I love the draw we got.

Unlike last year, top 4 teams need to come and play us at Optus. We get to play them on our home deck, and then we get to play them at the MCG where you need to win if you want a flag.

Richmond having 6 interstate trips with two to Perth sounds about right. I think their draw is significantly harder than last year, and as reigning premiers it should be.

Have a look how many times you see a Freo or even West Coast player on any of the football shows.

West Coast are one of the best and biggest in the comp and even they only get a couple of Friday night games.

Didnt know whether you were on about the AFL media brigade controlled by Gil & Co or the likes of Robbo, Whately etc or FTA.

As an Eagles fan I'd love to agree over Fri night, but its a big deal in Melbourne, even Adelaide but the time difference sucks in Perth - starts too early for lots of working people to get there.
Easy said because I live in Melbourne, good to settle in & watch a good game with a beer or 9, I'd still be in the pub in Perth.

People are such sheep. Quoting this like it actually matters or this is definitive proof that 2020 will be harder for their team. We don't know the teams that will rise or fall yet, a ranking based on last year doesn't mean much.

I thought the AFL would go hard on Brisbane with a tougher draw after having an absolute piss easy draw last year.

GC - twice (will finish last)
Kangaroos - twice (likely bottom 6)
Hawthorn - twice (likely bottom 10)
Geelong - twice (medium/hard)
Collingwood - twice (hard)

They have arguably the 2 best teams in the comp (Richmond and West Coast) both at home and don’t play them away.

They only have to play in WA once, Tasmania once and Marvel twice.

6 of their final 7 games are either in NSW or Qld having to only travel more than about 500km once which is against Carlton.

You arent into speculation?
I'm not into excuses, each side knows what they are up against, the nuffies cheer/sook.
Thats not to deny someone at HQ signed off on the draw.

They will always get GC twice, regardless of whether they are 18th or 1st.

Geelong came 1st in the regular season, they are definitely a hard team during the season.

Also no team will enjoy playing North twice, their game style leaves their opponents banged up and bruised, and they will be no easy beats.

No genuine football supporter gives a rat’s about the AFL’s standing on the world stage. They just want their team to succeed. Are you new to the game champ?

Obviously you are not new to the game, but if you are a genuine football supporter you would/should be very concerned about what soccer is doing to junior participation rates all across OZ.

I'm a junior footy coach in WA and soccer has carved up and spat out what was heartland AFL in the Bull Creek Leeming area (and many others).

But if it floats your boat to keep telling yourself that AFL keeping the Grannie in Melbourne and not promoting its biggest showcase around the country wouldn't help in keeping it the number one sport then you'll be one of those same people in 15 years time wondering where have a large portion of the potential young AFL supporters have drifted off to.

Just imagine the excitement generated in Perth if once every 9 or 10 years Perth got the GF or the publicity generated if Sydney also got it once a decade.

No problems with Melbourne having it most of the time, but keeping it fully in Melbourne is short sighted and counter productive.

We ask every year to keep our QLD/TAS games to an absolute minimum (as we already travel a crazy amount) and most of the time we only get one, maybe two. Now we have three this coming season. Very disappointing. One or two key injuries this year and we'll free fall I think. Geelong have our first round pick.
