As God is my witness, finding anything useful on the AFL.com.au site is practically impossible, may whoever designed it burn in hell.

I do not understand why Gold Coast still have a list of 49 PLUS access to Zones ......how much of a legup do they & the AFL want

Northern Zones are a rort
It's ridiculous. The crows seem to be the most punished by GC's gifts. If they weren't given such a hugely expanded list size we would be a good chance to trade up to pick 5 as they would have had to trade it out due due to the fact they contracted so many player on their list. The ironic part is that they still won't win a flag no matter what you give them. They are soulless like GWS.

True but gives us something. Combine results really mean stuff all
Not really the endurance tests especially tell us a fair bit about how the Vic lads psyche has been to maintain their fitness programs throughout the year with no football.

The upcoming scheduled special training opportunity for the Vic lads would appear to be the 1st time recruiting teams will be able to sit down with the lads for a face to face interview for a very long time for character assessments etc?

Perhaps a 2021 Pick swap? *ducks head*
Well I would do that in a second. use other clubs arrogance against them. I think we will finish above both Gold Coast and Essendon so any pick swap would actually help us next year.
‘I know there is a lot of naturally pessimistic people that won’t agree, but powerful clubs like Adelaide don’t stay down for long.

We are in no ways a powerful club.

I think GC still have to reduce the numbers on their primary list by the same amount as anyone else.

We are in no ways a powerful club.
We have in the top few membership and supporter bases, and represent an AFL centric state.
we make the most or nearly the most profit every year.
we have state of the art facilities and home oval.
we are in the top half dozen win/loss percentage over the last 20 years

we are definitely one of the most powerful clubs, who should be the most powerful.
we have certainly made mistakes which have cost us more premiership success and short term culture, but we will bounce back very quickly.

Those are the reasons why we should be a powerful club.

But we are not.

Your right. I was under the impression that they had too many contracted players that they couldn't reduce their primary list down to between 36-38 players. They currently have 36 listed players and are only expected to take one at the draft and upgrade a rookie onto their list to make it 38 listed players. Probably will just take the best talent at 5. I'm hoping they take Hollands and he still wants to come to the crows in the future.

It's not that I'm pessimistic about Adelaide, I still think there's a few teams that'll finish below us, but GC should improve next year, certainly pushing or the top 8

Hmm...IF the club is set on Thilthorpe and thinks that the gap between picks 1 and 5 is not there, woudl it be out of the realms of possibility that we might be open to sliding pick 1 to pick 5 if we could get GC 2021 1st as well. The club might feel very confident that Thilthorpe will be there at pick 5 with his groin issues maybe being a bit of a stumbling block for sides. There was rumor that we were open to considering a godfather offer for the pick and maybe GC look at McDonald and think he is worth trading up for? who knows
It is food for thought - some "expert" said on radio on the weekend that GC will not take Phillips as they have too many similar midfielders. If the Crows regard the big 5 as evenly matched & that all of them offer a lot to the wooden spooners then a trade may happen. I think they are slightly more professional than BF posters who blindly nail their colours to a draftee they know little about!!

I see GC finishing around 14th. The Qld hub definitely helped them. If it's a normal 22 round home and away season I see them ending up with a top 5 pick.

Year older for a lot of players, and Rowell fit should see them ready for an assault on the eight.

It's getting make or break time for this set of GC players.

I understand your point, BUT One thing Vader is that just remember there is a possibility that GC trade down to get say pick 2-3 from NTH / S and then NTH on trade pick 5 who knows?? - anything can happen on draft night - especially seeing as it's so wide open on who will be selected at pick 1.
OK coming at you! :)

Perkins is odds on to go to the Dons with one of their picks.

Cannot see us taking Cory Durdin IMO, more likely a mid or a reach for a tall.

Henry Walsh that high? He's really not that good.

You don't think Reef McInnes draws a bid higher than that?
Nice comments mate,

Perkins is a bit of a mystery IMO - I really like him, so wouldn't mind him landing at crows, but yeah ESS - If I was them i'd be going Key position with 2 of those picks. Their talls down back and up front are in a word... Sh*t.

Durdin, I like him personally - would prefer either COOK or POULTER, but think they'll (Probably) both be long gone sadly by that point. But we could get one. I'd love to land cook the most.

Walsh - I think someone will reach for him. Great attitude, really athletic and would have improved his stocks this year if VIC had of played. General consensus is he is the back Ruck in this years pool (from Cal.Twomey etc) so I just have a feeling someone reaches for him. In all likelihood the blues trade up and grab him around 30-35 I think most likely.
MicInnes, personally if a bit vanilla for mine. Good honest player, but can't imagine too many clubs desperate for him. I rate him around that 20-30 mark

I watched a lot of Gold Coast games as I generally bet on the team they were playing. That final match at Adel oval against Hawthorn was simply terrible. I honestly don't see a huge amount of improvement in them but if it does come it will be in the early part of the season.

Every year we think they'll improve and every year they flatter to deceive.

In that sense they are the "Anti-North Melbourne"

Well until this year's North anyway

It won't stay like this, of course there will be pick swaps/trades prior to and on draft night, but hypothetically; based on today's current top 30 picks; here is a quick punched out phantom draft for people to argue at me about :)

1 ADELAIDE - Riley Thilthorpe
2 BULLDOGS - Jamara Ugle Hagen
3 NORTH - Logan McDonald
4 SYDNEY - Elijah Hollands
5 HAWKS - Denver Grainger Barrass
6 GOLD COAST - Will Phillips
7 ESSENDON - Tanner Bruhn
8 ESSENDON - Zach Reid
9 SYDNEY - Braeden Campbell
10 PORT ADEL - Lachie Jones

11 ESSENDON - Oliver Henry
12 ADELAIDE - Archie Perkins
13 GWS - Nick Cox
14 NORTH - Finley Macrae
15 FREMANTLE - Heath Chapman
16 GWS - Brayden Cook
17 MAGPIES - Tom Powell
18 GWS - Zane Trew
19 MAGPIES - Nathan O'Driscoll
20 RICHMOND - Kaine Baldwin
21 MELBOURNE - Jack Carroll
22 MAGPIES - Reef Mcinnes
23 MELBOURNE - Bailey Laurie
24 SYDNEY - Errol Gulden
25 GWS - Henry Walsh
26 HAWKS - Connor Downie
27 SAINTS - Zavier Maher
28 ADELAIDE - Caleb Poulter
29 ADELAIDE - Corey Durdin
30 LIONS - Zac Dumesny
Are we drafting these SA kids because they are the best option at each pick or because they are SA ?

I wouldn’t be overly happy with those selections other than Perkins with our blown out pick 9

Watched both of their vision, albeit mainly highlights and I would pick Tilt over McDonald.

In saying that.
I would pick Hollands after bidding on JUH and Campbell to help those chances. Would be happy to have either on our list.
There's no chance Sydney don't match hes a top5 prospect. We cant let them get a top 5 from academy and pick 3.

1.JUH (WB)
2.Campbell (SYD)
3.Hollands (ADEL)
4.DGB (HAW)
5. Thil/Phillips?

We need to try and move up swap first with Hawks? They will expect to finish higher.

Lets hope they leave him off.
How high could he go in the open market?
Mid to late 2nd round - 3rd round?

The deadline for academy and father-son nominations is Thursday, 25 November, which means the Gold Coast Suns will this week be naming their pre-listed rookies, with up to six places available on their expanded rookie list.

Confirmation came this week of 2021 list sizes for all clubs, which when applied to the Gold Coast Suns means they can have 36 to 38 primary listed players, two category B rookies and ten to 12 category A rookies, making a total list of 50.

At the conclusion of the 2020 season the Suns had three players retire from their primary list, delisted two more and also delisted five players from their rookie list. In the trade period they signed two players in free agency, quietly added a player to their category B rookie list and traded out a primary list player.
