Getting Luko back if he continues his current trajectory will cost us an enormous amount of draft collateral.
Not when he's out of contract. Just have to load him up with all the money we have no one to spend on.

I'm hoping come 2022 some of these kids will be worth something

Thing is it’s not a direct comparison. We might end up with pick 8 next year and not be able to move up like 2018 And Horne is long gone. If Hollands was available at 5 I think we would have to consider it very closely, as it would be 100% chance of Hollands versus maybe 40% chance of Horne.
I'd be very disappointed if we weren't angling for it already.

Port did it because they were aggressively hunting one of the top 3Adelaide boys - the strongest SA draft of all time. We weren’t in the hunt - we sat on our hands even though the footy public/media expected us to do the same to get Luko

And yet for some reason we’re against trading our 2021 1st rd pick?

I know next years draft is going to be quality, but why wouldn’t we consider it if it meant grabbing Thilthorpe at Pick 5 for instance in THIS years draft, getting an extra year into him.

Because our 2021 1st rounder, may end up being Pick 1.

Thoughts on below scenario/s

1- Hollands

4- Thilthorpe - traded up with Hawks( 9,22 and dees future 2nd) - 3rd and 4th rounder coming back

23- Cook or Poulter

40 - Baldwin

56 - Edwards

66- Borlase

80- Newchurch

If no trade for pick 4

1- Hollands
9- bid on Jones - if matched then Perkins
22- Cook
23- Poulter (Dumsney if either of above is gone)
40- Baldwin
56- Edwards
60- Borlase
80- Newchurch

a) we've never done that and never will.

b) he's a very good player, but not an instant match-winner who can demand a million dollar a year salary.

c) in the history of recent high SA draft picks (top 5) that move interstate who has come back to the AFC in their absolute prime?

d) we are 5+ years from being an above average side. The Suns in 24 months will be playing Finals and for a number of years.

Where does he play at AFL level?

Medium forward or medium defender?

If it was me I'd prefer Archie Perkins or Eddie Ford or even Caleb Poulter before I'm taking Oliver Henry, just think they will transition into the midfield rotations far easier than he would on what I saw in his under-age year.

3rd tall either in defence or forward.
Bit of gunston to him.

Just looks like a Hamish type.

When does Edwards have to make a decision on if he wants to nominate for Father son?
After we've made our decision .....if we say no to listing Edwards as a Father / Son ...Edwards will then come out in the media and disclose he's chosen to pursue the open draft ......at this point queue the melts on BF

I’m sold on Mutineer boy Zavier Maher

Height184cmWeight83kgCurrent TeamMurray BushrangersBirthdayMay 5, 2002

POSITION: Inside Midfielder
DRAFT ANALYSIS: “Maher is an inside midfielder with explosive speed and great kick penetration.” – Peter Williams
Zavier Maher is an explosive inside midfielder who, while not the prototype tall in there, is able to use his strength on the inside and speed on the outside. While he has plenty of upside, he has had some injuries over the journey – such as a broken ankle and a minor medial collateral ligament (MCL) tear – and still has areas to improve on such as his ball-winning and short kicking. Still, Maher lays claim to some seriously eye-catching traits.
STRENGTHS:
  • Explosive speed
  • Strength
  • Contested work
  • Metres gained
  • Kick penetration
  • Leadership
IMPROVEMENTS:
  • Ground level balls
  • Durability
  • Short field kicking

Problem is that as soon as we float the idea of trading pick 1 with NM or Sydney, it will become obvious we are moving away from McDonald.

NM will stand firm with 2 and every chance Sydney will take DGB anyway .

Maybe that's a good thing. North, Swans and Hawks all know we will go for Hollands so if they want McDonald, they can trade for him. North wait and see as they are in the box seat, but means they may miss if someone else buds, so they'd better bid too.

Get out there and say we will trade pick 1 as we can't split the top 4 (inc DGB), so if someone wants first crack, offer us a deal.

Where do you see him going? In the 20’s?

I would consider it. Ideally we get Hollands and Thilthorpe this year. We can always look to create more value next year with trades and another future first

What sorts of players are the top 5 looking like next year? Mids, KPPs?

Last year we went tall early when there were some mids available, I wonder if that influences if we go tall or Hollands this year.

Or just get the best player this year and next...

We’ll be all in on Jason Horne next year
South Adelaide mid
