At no stage in Burton's life was his kicking as bad as ROB's is now.

Good on Rob for developing that little dinky stab kick so he has something to use during play, but he still can't kick for goal.
If you reckon Burton got nervous in front of a microphone .....he was twice as bad 20 mtrs out from goal

Multiple high skill midfielders.
1.
2.
3. Schoenberg (Jones, McHenry)

At least one elite marking forward
1.

At least one very good rebounding defender
1. Hamill (Milera, Sholl)

At least one elite small forward.
1. Stengle

a great key defender.
1. (MacAsey, Butts, Worrell)

a big (190cm) contest winning midfielder.
1.

So from your list, I think Stengle, Hamill and Schoenberg look likely fits. Jury is still out on Jones, McHenry, Milera, Sholl, MacAsey, Worrell and Butts, but likely half will make it. Jones really needs to pull his finger out, and Milera needs consistency rather than 1 out of 3 games of a decent level. Fogarty is an interesting one. He isnt as tall as most key forwards, but Jack Reiwoldt does ok for the same height. Personally I would love to see Fog drop 3kg, work on his tank and play midfield more. Could he be that 190cm+ contest winning mid?
Delusional! Classifying Stengle as on par with the best small forwards in the game my highlight.

We are talking 600+ goal key forwards, Brownlow medal winning, multiple All-Australian midfielders. I don’t think we have any on our list today.

Would you take Pick 11? I think I would, cant see Geelong willing or able to give Brad a big enough salary to get Band 1, so will likely have to match and force a trade. We’ve done this dance before with Geelong, Question is, do they have a Dean Gore type to really sweeten the deal for us?
Pretty sure Ablett and Harry Taylor are in their last season. They might have a very healthy chunk of their Salary Cap free up in 2021.

Can someone please clarify something for me. If we forced the Bulldogs and the Swans to both match bids at the top of the draft, effectively making our pick slide back to pick#3, does that decrease the pick value based on the chart to the same value? It would right?

So effectively if we were to take Hollands with our first pick the value of that pick would end up being 2348 points rather then 3000 points.

The value of a pick is the value of a pick. If matched bids means our pick 1 falls to pick 3, it is worth whatever pick 3 is.

The points don't matter to us until we want to match a bid on Edwards/Borlase/Newchurch.

Essentially we could bid on JUH, Campbell, Reef McInness and whoever else there is to take them off the board and our first pick would just be for example 8. We wouldn't gain points by doing this it would just be forcing other clubs to pay up or let go.

The only thing that would change is maybe our picks 28/42/49 become 25/39/45 depending on what picks are used to match by other teams.

Yeah, I suppose we could potentially hurt a few teams early mid round selections if we were that way inclined!

But considering we probably won't be selecting around then i'm not sure how it would help us.

What is Rob's kicking efficiency and goal kicking accuracy?
Disposal efficienct 60.4%
Kicking efficiency 41.8% which is down on his career average of 46%

He is a Ruckman after all.

Ranked elite :

Intercept marks
Intercept possessions
Contested marks

You’d think Selwoods on his last legs too..

They’d easily fit brad in at 700-750k a year for 4 or 5 years.. even if they had to backend some of it to pay more of it when the current selwood, danger, abblet, hawkins and taylor contracts are all cleared off the books..

you’d think if they were keen on brad that they’d rather pay that little extra to get him for free (as in no picks) than have to risk a trade and maybe have to give up some of their first rounders this year..

be a good haul for them;

brad plus three first rounders in from this years draft and a smokey with pick 35.

not bad for a club thats currently contending.. brad helps with experience for the “now” and three young first round draftees add in some “future proofing” for the rest of the decade..

****.. when you look at it that way with the Cats it just magnifies even more just how bad a position we’re in!..

Imagine having cap space and being able to attract some talent. It's mind blowing.

Likely pick 11 is best we will get for Brad. Geelong are pretty fruigil with their money and Brad ain't no danger. Is there another team that wants Brad and enough to garner pick 2? We don't want to end up with pick 19 after the AFL screw us over as usual. I feel the AFL will likely indicate to us on the quiet what compo we will get once we know the salary. If we did take pick 11 from geelong (if they offer it) I would be using a higher pick or player to trade up into the top 5 if possible. Example. If Laird was to ask for a trade and say we received pick 10(one can hope). I would trade pick 10,11 for a top 4 pick.

Would give us 1, 4 and likely 9(gws) in the top 10.
Would take one of McDonald/Thilthorpe and 2 mids or 1 mid and both McDonald and Thilthorpe.

Add Horne in next year and hopefully we can attract a top free agent mid (once we free up cap) over the coming years and we should have a top midfield within 3 years. Schoenberg is also only going to get better with a better tank and strength as well.

While I agree we could do much better.

Imagine self reporting “administrative errors” for multiple years of breaching salary cap guidelines and basically nothing happens.

Geelong will either want to trade to keep their salary structure, or they will just want to sign him with their salary cap room and keep their picks for the future. I think, with how their list currently looks, they might prioritise picks over salary cap room, which they didn't do with Dangerfield.

There's probably going to be multiple other suitors, depending on who actually wins the flag. St Kilda, Fremantle, Richmond, Carlton, Essendon, Port ...

With the state of our list as it is, the last thing we should be doing is trading two top ten picks for a top five pick. We're not in the position of just trying to add the icing onto our cake, like GWS has been. We need to draft the effing cake.

Just some unserious speculation.

We end up with the picks as they currently stand.

Brad choose Geelong, but it's only $550k, and he still wants to go. We trade Brad and pick 28 for picks 11 and 17 (Geelong keep 16).

That would mean we'd have 1, 10, 11, 17 and 20 plus the NGAs. I'd probably trade 20 for Hately and O'Halloran and look to get Swallow in the PSD.

Would you then look to trade 1 and a 2021 3rd DOWN to Freo for 5 and a 2021 first? Or is that too low?
