That's not true. It was staffers not players.
I don’t believe that at all. Crows are making minimal 8 changes anyway. List sizes will reduce by about 4 players with a reduction in the salary cap. I think these individuals were to look at their options beyond the crows.

I would do it. Crows need picks in next year draft as well.
maybe if it kept us in the top 4 of the draft and got us a 2021 1st from a mid to lower ranked side. But I was thinking in my previous post that we can't count on Thilthorpe or McDonald being there at a pick other than 1 or 2 because of what North and Sydney might do with teams trying to trade up to grab either / both

Wrong. This goes back to a Fagan slip-of-the-tongue back in April when he meant to say staffers rather than players. No truth to this.
Crows are playing heartless footy atm. I would be more inclined believe something has been said to the players.

Looks to have put on a bit of size. Long arms...

how long has this lad been playing footy now?... swear i read somewhere that he’s only been playing footy for 3-4 years now and that his coaches have been really surprised at quickly his game has developed..

I could be mistaking him for someone else so happy to be corrected..

Or maybe we’re just shit? There is no way that even a club as incompetent as we are, has told players mid way through a season they will not be required next year, zero chance, zilch, nada

I think Riley Thilthorpe would more than hold his own on those I've seen, to my knowledge he's the only 2020 draftee rucking at League level.

Who is better in your eyes? Thilthorpe or McDonald??
Thilthorpe plays for an average team and won’t get good service. Also he plays ruck and has more strings to him.

McDonald is playing in a good team and will get better service.

With the "aggressive" side to his game I think he could be a nightmare for forwards - it's worth a try - he may benefit with less pressure to take a grab but still bust a pack and spoil - I like it.
The question is, can he be worse than Kelly?

Which surely is a no, but can he play on the same types of Players?

Or is it Hartigan swap?

Geelong are going to finish up following Hawthorns path if they aren't careful. Though they do have 3 first round picks atm this year

Not the worst club to be going after Brad, all things considered.

Would you take Pick 11? I think I would, cant see Geelong willing or able to give Brad a big enough salary to get Band 1, so will likely have to match and force a trade. We’ve done this dance before with Geelong, Question is, do they have a Dean Gore type to really sweeten the deal for us?

I hope not. That Gore trade really brought out the mouth breathers who thought because he had a name and was not just "pick 56" he was there to muddy the waters.

That said, 11 and I'd be trying to upgrade one of our 2nds too would be my goal here. They're a very nice trading partner if they don't offer a band one compo.

If it meant paying 100k more... feels better of them paying that and getting Crouch for free rather then losing pick 11

Depends on how their salary cap is looking, though I suspect Geelong would rather give up draft picks instead of paying an extra 100k. After all, providing there is no dodgy business going on (and lets be frank, there most likely is something rotten about Geelongs salary cap), they really should be at the point they're maxed out in the cap after this deal (I would assume there is a bit of Kelly money which is why they could).

Premiership formula:

Multiple high skill midfielders. Skill relatively more important than pace and size

At least one elite marking forward. As long as they can make a contest, athleticism and skill (Jack Riewoldt, Roughead) is more important than size (Levi Casboult and Tom Hawkins)

At least one very good rebounding defender (Birchall, Johannisen, Houli).

At least one elite small forward. Draft them last. Ideally has surname Rioli.

Other roles:
- a great key defender is not mandatory, you can get by with pretty good eg Lake and Frawley
- a big (190cm) contest winning midfielder eg Cripps, Wines is definitely not mandatory. If you must have one they better be high skill eg Bontempelli.

I would be spending every early pick on players who have a chance to be elite skilful midfielders or elite athletic key forwards.

Once that is in place then you can tailor pick for needs around your current group. Eg Richmond continue to draft pace and pressure to guarantee they can always win the pressure game. Eg West Coast want to kick-mark so they keep their stocks of talls populated.

Multiple high skill midfielders.
1.
2.
3. Schoenberg (Jones, McHenry)

At least one elite marking forward
1.

At least one very good rebounding defender
1. Hamill (Milera, Sholl)

At least one elite small forward.
1. Stengle

a great key defender.
1. (MacAsey, Butts, Worrell)

a big (190cm) contest winning midfielder.
1.

So from your list, I think Stengle, Hamill and Schoenberg look likely fits. Jury is still out on Jones, McHenry, Milera, Sholl, MacAsey, Worrell and Butts, but likely half will make it. Jones really needs to pull his finger out, and Milera needs consistency rather than 1 out of 3 games of a decent level. Fogarty is an interesting one. He isnt as tall as most key forwards, but Jack Reiwoldt does ok for the same height. Personally I would love to see Fog drop 3kg, work on his tank and play midfield more. Could he be that 190cm+ contest winning mid?

Worst kick I’ve ever seen on a footy field and you want him in a Key position . Wow !!! some people 🙄
Was ! ......use the right tense

Burton was the worse when he started ....but they all improve with time

I'll take ROB's contested marking up FWD thanks .....name me another contested mark up fwd

At no stage in Burton's life was his kicking as bad as ROB's is now.

Good on Rob for developing that little dinky stab kick so he has something to use during play, but he still can't kick for goal.
