Why is any team, let alone us, playing games in Victoria? The state is a cesspool and no crowds will be attending. Absolutely pathetic. Get the Vic teams into hubs anywhere else.

Our borders open for fly in fly out from the 20th of July. What gets me is half of these hub games are classed as home games for us. Makes a mockery of saying we'd have all these home games at the end of the season. Why are the WA teams being treated different to us and saying they're going to get 6-7 home games in a row?

That 20th of July opening is still subject to Melbourne getting it's shit together. They may be hopefull it happens and it possibly will but there's no way known Steven Marshall can afford to open the border if Melbourne has 20 plus positive tests per day. Not sure what the AFL does then.

FFS why didn't Marshall say we will let a NSW team fly in fly out on the 12th when they are going to lift travel restrictions 8 days later on 20th, from NSW. Wasted fu**in' opportunity from the drongo and his covid transition team.

What happens if the border with VIC doesn't open on July 20? If that happens, the NSW border may still open, so seems stupid to schedule GWS now, when they're one of 2 interstate teams we won't have played who are more likely to be able to fly in and out of SA in a month.

Seems so much planning has gone into making the WA hub work the AFL has forgotten about SA and just assumed fly in and out will be fine from round 8.

Our borders open for fly in fly out from the 20th of July.

Maybe they do. Perhaps not with Victoria, depending on how things work out there. I can't see it happening generally with the Victorian population until after this. We are 4 weeks away from this with a (up to) 2 week lag before infections become visible. They'll either need exemptions for Victorian teams to come here, or perhaps Vic teams stop here on the way back from WA, having quarantined there. With a non quarantine/open border with WA this is possible, so long as the Vic clubs don't sook about it. With Geelong being one of the teams to cycle through the WA hub, you could conceivably get them back through 2 weeks here (with Adelaide and Port both playing Collingwood and Geelong).

With the club with the most vociferous President and the club with the AFLPA president, what are the chances they won't "sook"?

After we get to play one game at AO this year, the AFL will just say "sorry, refer SA Government"

I can see a break in the afl season again happening again for a couple of weeks if Vic situation doesn't improve soon. They will need to schedule games in adelaide that's a fact and will have no choice but send 2 or 3 melbourne clubs here in a hub and have them do the 14 day quarentine. Can't see fly in fly out with Melb teams happening soon. They are just hoping things will improve by round 7 to allow fly in fly out. But unlikely I feel

If we open the border for NSW before Round 6, which is could happen the way NSW are fighting the virus we should be able to move our game back to Adelaide. But the way Victoria’s going I can’t see SA opening the borders for them by July 20 meaning we won’t be able to get home Vic. Fly Vic teams over to SA, quarantine them for two weeks and then play us and the crows.

So at the end of Rd 6 we will have played 6 of the 7 other non Vic teams.

That leaves Sydney and the 10 Vic teams to play against.

2 homes games will be in GC and the showdown at end of Rd 6. So we will have 5 maybe 6 other "home" games. They had better not make us play home games in Victoria.

If things get worse in Victoria, there isn't a lot of flexibility unless Marshall changes his mind and lets Vic teams fly in fly out the same day with no quarantining.

Only way it works if the Vic teams are relocated to states where SA has its borders opened to. The AFL needs to get Victorian teams out it’s compromising the whole league.

Not too fussed, playing up in Qld through the first half of winter isn't terrible.

Suspect the AOSMA will start lobbying the AFL for a run of games from mid July, especially now the SA Government has opened crowds to 25k.
I doubt AOSMA care for further loosening of restrictions for larger crowds as cows will struggle to get 25k as it is .😁

Hopefully Ports get rewarded for playing 5 of the first 6 in Qld by playing 5 of the last 6 rounds home. Same goes for other WA and cows, who should get av run of home games, also makes sense with 50% capacity crowds now on offer. Freo probably the most disadvantaged, Rd 1 Marvel, next five in Qld.

Odd that Richmond fly to QLD to play eagles in rd5 but fly back to Vic for rd 6 to play North. Thought they could have kept them in Qld and let them play us or the crows.

Carlton and Saints don't leave Victoria at all first six rounds. All the other Vic teams got have at least 1 round interstate. Happy to welcome these two sides to a SA hub but they've already played each other

How in any way does it make sense for Port to go into Victoria? Wouldn't Port then need to also quarantine for 2 weeks after heading home? This is just blatant stupidity now.

Comes down to WA hub working, any side flying back from WA, stops by in SA on the way home.

Should be able to work it that if a VIC team goes on the road, plays 2 in WA, 2 in SA and 1 in NSW, they'd stay in Victoria for the rest of the season.

Doesn't work the same for us, we'd have to fly to Vic, do our tour of duty, fly out and quarantine in TAA, play whoever and fly back to SA once we've done our quarantine

AFL/VFL are idiots.

There is 12 rounds after Round 5. Vic teams should go on an 8 week road trip playing all interstate teams, firstly to Qld, NSW or even WA if that’s what they’ve negotiated. 2 week hubs in each destination.

They can play Vic vs Vic in Melbourne before or after there trip. The interstate teams need to still play GWS and/or Sydney which could be fly in, fly out.

With Coronavirus in Victoria, it is simply a WHS issue. Get them out. No teams should be going there.

Funnily enough, this is what interstate teams are expected to do, in terms of away games/travel each year. The winners in this would be GC and Brisbane, but this is no different to Collingwood and Richmond and what they get each year. They could also play a few exhibition games in Tassie or NT to even it up.

Voss saying we'll come back to SA after the Brisbane game and then FIFO to play GWS in QLD the next week. Maybe that's what's holding up the round 7 announcement. Don't see how we can be scheduled in VIC if Port is based in SA, not QLD, by then before the border has definitely reopened.
