With the way things are going with both the virus and the AFL fixturing priorities, I think we should be preparing ourselves for the possibility of being forced to hub in Victoria from R7 onwards. I can't see any other way we'll be able to play all of these Victorian clubs. I think we'll be lucky to play 2 or 3 games in Adelaide this year.

How in any way does it make sense for Port to go into Victoria? Wouldn't Port then need to also quarantine for 2 weeks after heading home? This is just blatant stupidity now.
It's clear that AFL stands for Absolutely F***ed Logic.

Having the Victorian WA hub teams go to SA on the way back and play Port and the Crows seems like the obvious solution, at least in the middle of the season while the WA hub is happening and Vic is riddled corona. Perhaps too obvious for the AFL.

Otherwise can't see us going to a Vic hub with the current state of things. Both teams FIFOing to a state open to both SA and Vic teams seems to be the other option.

With the decision to fly back after the Brisbane game its even more perplexing that we couldn't have the round 6 game.vs GWS at Adelaide oval. Would have only been 1 week from the borders opening so I'm sure GWS could have been granted a special fly in fly out exemption.

Makes no sense either why we have to travel to Melbourne for round 7. I dont understand the logic there at all.

Hmmm, find it very hard to believe that we'll be able to get in and out of Vic given the current state of affairs in Vic. They just had 33 cases today, they're absolutely spiking, and definitely putting the whole comp at risk.

We'd be better off flying a group of teams into Adelaide, having a 2 week bye period for those teams, and then getting a hub going here.

We should flat out refuse under OHS.

F***YOU GILLON YOU S*** TURD!!!!
It's not Gilligan, its his underling Travis Auld who is coming up with this crap.

Gilligan doesn't give a shit about the FIXture. He is out there lobbying governments and trying to keep it all together.

Auld is the one who has been giving Vic clubs favourable draws now for 4 or 5 years since he took over doing the FIXture from Gil. The idiot has continually refused to put the Showdown on Thursday or Friday night where a national audience is guaranteed despite the industry agreeing Port v crows is biggest and best rivalry in The AFL.

The idiot a couple of seasons ago when the draw was released was on the AA sports show explaining it and when Rowe asked why wasn't the showdown on the Friday night like the AFL had said it would put its best games on Friday night, he like the corrupt individual that AFL FIXture makers are, condescendingly said, oh you noticed that, did you?

just wondering if any of you lot had any idea as to why either Port or the Crows would be sent to play in Melbourne

Crows probably lucky to have picked this season to tumble down the ladder (watch them take pick#1 away somehow though) so to a certain extent I don't care

But in reality, it's genuinely ridiculous

It'll make your finals challenge difficult

We ain't just gonna play one game in VIC and then move back to ADL

It'll be another block of 3 or 4

I expect we'll get a run of home games right at the end of the season

Apart from being pee'd off that I don't get to see a game anytime soon this could be really good for us leading into finals

Only logical thing is that it is because of the SA government which has said they will open the border to NSW and Victoria on the 20th July - at this stage, but that could change anytime. Qld border has been opened for people coming to SA but not the other way - the AFL clubs have those special work exemptions.

So lets assume Port and the crows stay an extra week in Qld and fly home after Rd 6 games say on Monday 13th. They then fly to Melbourne for their games on 18th and 19th, and fly home on 20th when restrictions are taken down and don't have to quarantine.

This way, its one less headache for AFL to deal with at the moment. If the SA government doesn't open the borders to Victoria on the 20th the clubs probably have already got an exemption from quarantining, given the precautions they have to go through and would be able to play games at AO weekend 25th and 26th July.

Round 7 of the AFL fixture has just been decided. We are off to Marvel Stadium to play St Kilda on July 19th.

We should be playing in Adelaide but our Premier has made sure we will not. I suspect that once we go to Melbourne that will be it.

If things do not improve dramatically in Victoria and Marshall doesn't open the border on the 20th July we will have to stay there.

Marshall announces 25,000 fans at Adelaide Oval then does nothing to ensure there is a game for those fans to watch. To me that is ****ing bullshit.

I am pretty pissed off as we have had **** all support from the SA Government or the AFL re getting home games at the Adelaide Oval.

Marshall should have his PAFC Membership cancelled.

That is a huge assumption. If AFL clubs had an exemption from SA quarantine then Marshall would be OK with FIFO while the Victorian border is closed. He is clearly not. Why would anything change after 20th July if, as is looking more likely every day, the border is still closed? Once we get to Victoria and if the Victorian border remains closed as Marshall has hinted, SA teams are unlikely come back without quarantine.

If the border opens on 20th July it is a different situation. But the situation will have to turn around in Victoria over the next three weeks for that to happen. Last I heard the Victorian Government was considering compulsory face masks which is not encouraging.

There is only one reason that SA does not have a shot at a mini hub like WA, that is Steven Marshall has not opened the door. That 25,000 fans announcement was nothing more than a political stunt designed to appease disgruntled AFL fans like me.

So in the first 7 rounds the WA and SA Clubs

Port
Rd 1 away v GC - no hub
Rd 2 home v Adelaide - AO pre hub
Rd 3 away v Freo - hub
Rd 4 home v WCE - hub
Rd 5 away v Bris - hub
Rd 6 home v GWS - hub
Rd 7 away v St Kilda - Docklands
5 or 6 home games to come, but home many home games at AO??? How many in a row? 4??

Adelaide
Rd 1 home v Syd - no hub

Rd 2 away v Port - AO pre hub
Rd 3 away v GC - hub
Rd 4 away v Bri - hub
Rd 5 home v Freo - hub
Rd 6 away v WCE - hub
Rd 7 away v North - Docklands
6 or 7 home games to come, but home many home games at AO??? How many in a row? 4??

West Coast
Rd 1 home v Melb - PS no hub

Rd 2 away v GC - hub
Rd 3 away v Bri - hub
Rd 4 away v Port - hub
Rd 5 home v Rich - hub
Rd 6 home v Adel - hub

Rd 7 away v Freo = PS
5 or 6 home games to come at PS, could be played Rds 8-12 or 13 all in a row

Fremantle
Rd 1 away v Ess - Docklands no hub
Rd 2 away v Bri - hub
Rd 3 home v Port - hub
Rd 4 away v GC - hub
Rd 5 away v Adel - hub
Rd 6 home v Melb - hub
Rd 7 home v WCE - PS

5 or 6 home games to come at PS, could be played Rds 8-12 or 13 all in a row

Lets look at Qld clubs

Brisbane
Rd 1 away v Haw - MCG no hub
Rd 2 home v Freo - hub
Rd 3 home v WCE - hub
Rd 4 home v Adel - hub
Rd 5 home v Port- hub

Rd 6 away v Coll - MCG
Rd 7 away v Syd - SCG
Have 4 or 5 home games to come.

Gold Coast
Rd 1 home v Port - no hub
Rd 2 home v WCE - hub
Rd 3 home v Adel - hub
Rd 4 home v Freo - hub

Rd 5 away v Gee- Kardinia park
Rd 6 away v Haw - MCG
Rd 7 home v Carl - Carrara
Have 3 or 4 home games to come.

Ok how about NSW teams

Sydney
Rd 1 away v Adel - AO no hub
Rd 2 home v Ess - SCG
Rd 3 away v North - Docklands
Rd 4 home v WB - SCG
Rd 5 home v Melb - SCG

Rd 6 away v Carl - MCG
Rd 7 home v Bris - SCG
Have 4 or 5 home games to come.

GWS
Rd 1 home v Gee - GS no hub
Rd 2 home v North - GS

Rd 3 away v WB - Docklands
Rd 4 home v Coll - GS
Rd 5 home v Haw - GS

Rd 6 away v Port - Carrara Port's HUB
Rd 7 away v Rich - MCG
Have 4 or 5 home games to come.

So SA teams will have had 4 weeks in a hub and WA teams 5 weeks in a hub.

Geelong and Collingwood will have 3 weeks in the WA hub. If they played in SA the 4th week one team Port the other the crows that puts them away for 4 weeks like the SA teams.

The AFL says they will send a further 2 x 2 Vic teams to WA after Geelong and Collingwood go there. But that wont work unless WA lift the quarantine restrictions or the weekend the Vic teams are playing their quarantine game in WA, the WA teams fly to Victoria. Can't see that happening. The WA government has to remove quartining rules like Qld did for 2 x 2 Vic teams.

Most logical if after the 3 rounds in WA involving WCE, Freo, Cats and Pies, which means Rd 9is weekend of 1st and 2nd August is to send the 2 Sydney teams there and they don't have to quarantine if they don't have a Vic spike. They have had single figure cases per day since ANZAC day and most of those the last 3 or 4 weeks have been international travellers quarantining.

Shit supposedly there are only 5 active cases left in NSW after changing their definitions yesterday.

That is a huge assumption. If AFL clubs had an exemption from SA quarantine then Marshall would be OK with FIFO while the Victorian border is closed. He is clearly not. Why would the SA teams agree to travelling to Victoria unless they were given a good indication that they wouldn't have to quartine for 14 days?

Only logical thing is that it is because of the SA government which has said they will open the border to NSW and Victoria on the 20th July - at this stage, but that could change anytime. Qld border has been opened for people coming to SA but not the other way - the AFL clubs have those special work exemptions.

We arent staying up in QLD for round 6. Voss said this morning we will fly back to Adelaide after the Brisbane game and then fly back up there for the GWS game. Makes a mockery of not getting Marshall to give GWS a one day travel fly in fly out exemption so that game could be at Adelaide Oval.

??? The Footy Managers and clubs' Covid officers are talking to SA Health, not the chairman's.

Marshall has said the SA government will remove all border restrictions by the 20th July. He said they are flexible either way.

So since that initial announcement, they have taken off the border restrictions to WA, NT and Tassie and then a week later removed them from Qld.

There has been no announcements to say the 20th July position has changed for Vic, NSW and ACT.

The 2 SA team are playing on 18th and 19th in Victoria. I don't believe that the 2 SA clubs and the AFL wouldn't have communicated with SA Health about what happens if the 20th July changes. They aren't that stupid.

We really need KT or Koch to come out and say that we are not happy with having to go to Victoria, when we have no cases in our state - either put the pressure on Marshall or on the AFL or whoever is making us go there. It's ridiculous.
