This rolling fixture is really messing with my social life. I have locked in a lunch on the 26th. I bloody hope we dont get a Sunday arvo fixture at the AO on that day.

Has there been any talk of what round 8 may look like? Do we think the Saints will stay a week here and play us? Or more likely another Vic team flies in and out?

I agree. I am hoping the next few weeks of the fixture will be released by the end of the week. With all teams now out of Covtoria surely the next part of the fixture should be released.

Wishful thinking. The VFL will want to keep it only a couple of weeks at a time, hoping some miracle occurs there and they can return ASAP. Plus even if Gil / Auld thinks that's unlikely they'd be blowing smoke up Dangerfield and Eddie's arses that the plan is to get them back soon and only spring the 'It's out of our control' at the last moment. Gil will avoid / delay any tough decisions whenever possible. :mad:

You gotta be flexible and agile in these unprecedented times.

Honestly the biggest winner out of all of this has been Brisbane. They have just played 4 home games in a row at the Gabba. Not even one travel to Metricon for an "Away" game. Now with all the talk of the Vic teams coming up to QLD, as well as already playing Port, Freo, WC and ADL, there is no way they don't get another heap of Home games still.

If they aren't top at the end of the season, I will be very shocked.

The VFL talks about Vic teams being away for 32 days in a hub.

Sunday 5th Monday 6th July + 32 days takes us to Thursday 6th and Friday 7th August. Not sure if the VFL meant that to end Sunday 9th but border changes on Sunday meant they had to rush out of Victoria a few days earlier than expect. If it is Sunday 9th that they all get home, then it allows Collingwood and Geelong to spend 1 weekend in SA.

..... Th/Fri/Sat/Sun
Rd 6 9/10/11/12 July Gee and Collingwood both play in Sydney
Rd 7 16/17/18/19 Friday Gee v Collingwood in Perth
Rd 8 23/24/25/26 Play WA teams
Rd 9 30/31/1/2 August Play WA teams
Rd 10 6/7/8/9 Gee and Collingwood to play in SA v Port and Adelaide at AO Maybe Friday and Saturday nights.

Of course this is all subject to change but this looks the likely set up for AO in Rd 10.

Both Brisbane and GC have their next 2 games in Sydney.

Brisbane play Geelong at the SCG then GWS at Giants stadium and GC play Melbourne at Giants Stadium and Sydney at SCG.

GC have set themselves up in a hub at Wollongong. Don't know if Brisbane have done the same thing or will just fly in, fly out.

Lions are in a Sydney hub. Their website on Friday.

After Saturday night’s blockbuster with the ladder leaders Port Adelaide the Lions will play at least the next two matches in NSW.

The Lions will play a Thursday night prime time clash with Geelong at the SCG on July 9 then remain in Sydney to take on the GWS Giants at Giants Stadium at 1.45pm on Saturday July 18.
.........
Lions coach Chris Fagan said the club would take the move into a NSW hub in its stride and were happy to play wherever the AFL deemed most appropriate to ensure the competition could continue under the various Government’s individual Covid 19 rules.

So at the moment only sides not living in a hub / hotel are Port, Crows, Swans and Giants.

Aye, aye here it comes...

From what I can work out it will only squeeze in one extra game. Monday 6th July + 32 days away = Friday 7th August so lets make that Sunday 9th is last day Vic players would return to Melbourne. Can't see Rd 6 and Rd 7 dates changing as that would be too disruptive. So looks like Vic teams out of Victoria for;

Rd 6... 9/10/11/12 July
Rd 7.. 16/17/18/19 July
Rd 8.. 23/24/25/26 July
Rd 9.. 30/31/1/2 Aug
Rd 10. 6/7/8/9 Aug

So a team that plays on Sunday 19th July for rd 7, if the minimum average days off would be 5, means potentially they play;
24th, 29th, 3rd August and 8th August which is only 1 extra games per team, ie get to Rd 11 before teams head back to melbourne and probably a bye.

If it was 4 days off it would be 23rd, 27th, 31st, 4th and 8th. That gets 5 game after rd 7, 2 extra games but there would probably be a fair few 3 day breaks which I can't see happening.

The other issue is that if Victoria doesn't improve come 8th August ie week 5 of 6 week lockdown, then they will run out of games where National teams play each other and Vic teams each other in Victoria. After the current Rd 6 and Rd 7 is completed this is who the National teams have left to play;

Adelaide - GWS + 9 Vic teams
Brisbane - GC,Syd + 8 Vic teams
Fremantle - GWS,Syd + 8 Vic teams
Gold Coast - Bris, GWS + 8 Vic teams
GWS....... - Syd,WCE,Freo,Adel,GC, + 5 Vic teams
Port ........ - Syd + 9 Vic teams
Sydney.... - GWS,Freo,Port,Bris, + 6 Vic teams
West Coast - GWS + 9 Vic teams

So then all the games in Rd 8,9,10 and squeeze in Rd 11, have to be National teams vs Vic teams.

I feel you mate!

Brother in law turned 18 last month. Missus decided we should be the ones hosting the family party (why us and not his parents, who bloody knows?!) And that is scheduled smack bang Sunday lunchtime and her entire side of the family hate sport.

Plan on recording the game and watching when I kick them out of my house. I would much prefer plonking my ass down and just watching it during the party, but I think I used that credit up when I chose to watch the NFL Draft in peace whilst the missus' immediate family dug up around 20 square metres of lawn so i could put a veggie patch down.

I cannot stand Whately the oracle. Such a tosser..... seeing his head above made me post this.

I've gone off him ever since he essentially said how Port should just be grateful we are in the competition and we should sit in the corner and shut up.

We are the only club from outside Victoria with a pre-existing (unrivalled and highly decorated) history, here to bring credibility to a "supposed" national competition. Turns out they just want a steroided VFL with a bunch of historyless also-ran expansion teams.

I know I keep repeating myself, but he's the moral compass no one asked for.

Yep and when he said we were duty bound to keep Ken in charge. What the actual farq was that? Ken is his mate no doubt, but that whole argument was so transparently flawed by his love for Ken. He has no independence now and he subservient to all these blokes that come on his show (Danger, Ken etc etc)
