PORT PUSH FOR PREFERENTIAL FIXTURE

Port Adelaide chairman David Koch says he hopes the club gets a “decent run of home games” after playing in hubs at the start of the revised fixture.

The club played its Round 2 Showdown at the Adelaide Oval before moving to Queensland until at least the end of Round 7.

Speaking to FIVEaa, Koch said he hopes the sacrifices made by his side are rewarded by league HQ.

“Next week you guys will be able to go with 20-25,000 people, which is just fantastic,” he said.

“That’s what both our teams need is members and supporters back supporting the teams and for both clubs to say a really big thank you to members who have been supporting us all the way through this. It’s been fabulous.

“And hopefully the so-and-sos in Victoria at the AFL better give the Crows and ourselves a decent run of home games at the back end of the season. We’ve done the heavy lifting.

“The Victorian clubs are all sort of whinging because they’ve had to be in a hub for a week. We were up there three or four weeks.”

Port Adelaide, who beat the Giants on Sunday and boast a 5-1 record to date, are set to host St Kilda in another round eight clash. The Saints will play the Crows in Adelaide next Monday night for round seven, so will stay in Adelaide in order to face the Power in SA.

I'm sure that part of the agreements for the new shortened season were teams could play games off 4 or so day breaks.

Thursday night would probably be too soon but I reckon we might just get them Friday night.

Edit: I just realised I'm busy all day Saturday that round so I'm gonna will this game into a Friday night timeslot on my own just so I can get to the game.

It isn't going to happen that way. If Vic teams are hubbed in Qld or WA we will play them in what is considered their home games in those states. Like this week we are playing Carlton at the GABBA in what is considered a Carlton home game.

We have already played 3 designated home games. We aren't going to get a run of 6 or 7 at AO.

Would be a huge oversight by the AFL to accidentally give us a Friday night game when they have a perfect opportunity to just give us more Sunday lunch time slots.

Keep a watch on the NSWA COVID numbers. If they keep moving in the wrong direction, we're going back into a hub in Queensland or even WA.
That would be bullshit. After the Carlton game our last 10 games is against Sydney and 9 Vic teams. The SA government should allow a few Vic teams to hub it up in Adelaide for 3 or 4 weeks after the 20th July.

No but we should get 4 in a row at AO.

I hope they make Collingwood and Geelong go to SA after their WA sojourn and play both SA teams if they are going to introduce the game every 4 or 5 days. Then fly in another 2 Vic teams to SA if they are allowed to stay here for 8 or 9 days and do the same thing.

Saints at AO, Saturday 25th July, 7:10pm.

Will be on 7 since there’s no other Saturday Night game.

Brilliant. Surely then with crows playing Essendon Sunday the bombers will stay on and playing us Thursday or Friday after ...

How does Adelaide get an extra game here first?

Wouldn't we both come back?

Confirmed?

There is no way Collingwood will play us at Adelaide Oval, their supporters can't travel and ours would all be in the prison bars.

Eddie wouldn't allow it.

Actually getting some non-Victorian teams on national broadcasts, who knew that was possible.

What's the point of drip feeding it? How puerile, just ******* release the lot - unless things are so chaotic that they're having to plug gaps day by day.
It's drip feed as the VFL is desperately hoping for a miracle to get back to the MCG / Marvel being the centre of the Sporting Universe. They won't let go of that unless they are forced to. Just work from the knowledge everything is about how to placate the Vic sides, short of ending the season and their actions make sense. They aren't fair, the best thing to do or logical, but from the 'Vics Rule!' point of view, they make sense. That's all they care about.
