Aqib Talib has retired from the NFL after 12 seasons.
34-year-old Talib was placed on IR for the final 11 games last year. He reportedly turned down an offer from the Patriots this summer. One of the league's better corners in his prime, Talib had 462 tackles, 35 interceptions, and 10 defensive touchdowns as a five-time Pro Bowler. He won a Super Bowl with the Broncos in 2015.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports Broncos LB Von Miller has a dislocated peroneal tendon and could return in three months in a "best-case scenario."
Miller avoided a torn Achilles, which would have ended his season. That's obviously good news, but Miller will have surgery and likely be placed on IR. Miller is a candidate to return in the second half if he avoids setbacks. With Bradley Chubb (knee) still working his way back, Denver's early season pass rush is a major question mark.

Steelers LB Ryan Shazier has retired from the NFL after six seasons.
Shazier hasn't played since 2017. The Steelers placed him on the reserved/retired list back in March. Shazier was a two-time Pro Bowler in his first four seasons before getting shut down with spinal surgery. The 28-year-old will move into his post-football career.

Rams signed CB Jalen Ramsey to a five-year, $105 million extension.
The deal includes $71.2 million in guarantees. Ramsey resets the cornerback market, as the $21 million AAV is $3.5 million more than what Tre'Davious White got from Buffalo. Ramsey, who was entering a walk year, is now signed through 2025. With Ramsey signed, Los Angeles may turn its attention to locking up Cooper Kupp.

Jaguars signed RB Dare Ogunbowale, formerly of the Bucs.
With Ryquell Armstead on the COVID-19 list and Devine Ozigbo suddenly sidelined with a hamstring injury, the Jaguars needed a backfield body. Ogunbowale lost his roster spot in Tampa Bay when the Bucs signed ex-Jaguars RB Leonard Fournette, so the two are essentially trading places. Ogunbowale will pitch in on special teams and spell James Robinson and Chris Thompson on offense.

NFL Network's Steve Wyche reports the Rams are working on an extension for contract-year WR Cooper Kupp.
After getting Jalen Ramsey signed and sealed Wednesday, GM Les Snead is turning his attention to Kupp. The "hope" is to get it done before Sunday, but "there is a lot of work to be done," according to Wyche. Snead has handed out a ton of big-money deals recently, and Kupp's will likely be no different. Kupp will probably be eyeing something similar to what Keenan Allen got -- four years and "more than" $80 million -- from the Chargers last weekend.

Vikings placed DE Danielle Hunter (neck) on injured reserve.
The exact nature of Hunter's injury still isn't known after the Vikings called it a "minor tweak" 15 days ago when he had already missed nine straight practices to that point. Hunter will now be sidelined for at least the first three weeks of the season, making the acquisition of Yannick Ngakoue even more important. Fourth-year DE Ifeadi Odenigbo will get the start in Hunter's place this week against the Packers. These will be the first games Hunter has missed since his 2015 rookie season.

Now it starts to make a whole heap more sense why they went after Yannick.

Odenigbo to go off coz I dropped him, no doubt! 👍

For primarily a slot receiver? If the Rams give him Keenan Allen money they are bonkers.

He's excellent at what he does, but he's no Keenan Allen, you can't move him all over the field, and if the reports are true that the Rams want to play more 12 personnel this year, he simply won't be worth the price that is being reported.

Achillies injuries are no joke. Ruined so many careers.

You see blokes like Jaylon Smith and Teddy B wreck their knee to complete sh*t and recover but a pop of the achilles and a player is never the same again.

Achilles tears are the new ACL. Not really surprising, athletes getting bigger, faster and more agile. It's like rebuilding a car with a bigger motor, stronger diff but leaving the original universal joint in place....eventually you put enough load on it, its going to end up a bunch of scrap metal on the street.

I've long held a theory that the excessive taping of ankles puts more pressure on knees and Achilles'. I know from my own sporting days a million years ago I rolled a lot of ankles, but the week I started getting them properly taped so they essentially wouldn't flex was the week I started having trouble with my knee.

That sounds exactly like my story. Ankles that used to come apart like lego....start strapping them and all of a sudden lower back injuries.

Played 127 games of senior AFL footy and never once had my ankles taped, was the only one in the team who didn't tape his ankles.
I did that for the very same reason, nobbyiscool.
Tape artificially strengthens your ankles and lures you into a false sense of security.

Only rolled an ankle once at training when I came down from a mark and the foot landed on a team mates boot and rolled with my weight coming down.
Seen lots of taped team mates roll ankles in games .......... thing is the taping is never 100% the same from one game to another and that in itself causes a potential weak spot.

I ****ed the ligaments in my ankle playing basketball. Ankle would roll so easy from then onwards. Taped them for that reason alone (my foot would blow up whenever I rolled it also). But I hated it. Never felt comfortable.

Two veteran flight attendants are suing United Airlines for discrimination, saying that the airline favors young, blond, blue-eyed crew members when assigning for flights that serve the NFL, NCAA and MLB, according to a complaint filed in the Superior Court of California. The flight attendants, Kim Guillory and Sharon Tesler, have worked for United Airlines for 28 and 34 years, respectively.

“United has created a despicable situation,” the women said in the complaint, by unlawfully enacting “procedures that are designed to ensure that young, white, blond/blue-eyed, female employees receive positions with the charter program.”

The lawsuit says more senior, Black and Jewish employees are not assigned to the flights, and that the plaintiffs were told by supervisors that they were not on the “preferred” crew list for the charters.

The sports team flights are coveted flight assignments “since attendants earn more money and can receive perks such as prime tickets and infield passes,” according to Yahoo Sports. The women are seeking monetary damages from United.

Rams WR Robert Woods signed a four-year extension worth $65 million.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Woods' deal is worth a maximum of $68 million. Woods in 2019 was 12th in receptions and and 16th in receiving yardage in Sean McVay's offense. His new deal is larger than Cooper Kupp's three-year, $48 million contract. Woods and Kupp should be centerpieces of the Rams offense for years to come.
