Trade hypotheticals and discussion of how you think or want a trade to happen go here - 2020 FA, Draft and Trade HYPOTHETICAL thread.

If you want to talk about a current Hawthorn player and if they’re staying on the list, it goes here - Should I stay or should I go now? End of season list management discussion (now continued for 2020)

Trade/FA targets thread is for discussion of News about players we are to target via trade of FA. It’s not for “Kane Cornes says we should get this player”.

What happens at Collingwood if they can't move Treloar, Phillips, Stephens or Cox (or a mixture of). Sounds like they won't have the money required to sign DeGoey. Does he think walk into the PSD and the highest bidder gets him? Interesting times.

Collingwood problems. Not ours.

As if wrighty is going to go on a Hawks podcast and declare our hand?

if Stephenson Phillips snd Treloar have not found a home by Thursday you watch us get involved.
I think the way he answered on the podcast indicates we will really have to wait until thursday afternoon to see what happens, he can always get phillips later in the week for cheaper (trade or salary wise) if we have genuine interest in getting phillips.

Correct. You almost have to think the opposite when you hear GW speak.
I just listened to it and IMO he didn’t even try to hide what he was thinking. It was that Phillips is unlikely at 5 x 500k and where not giving up our 2nd rounder for him. I’d say our best offer will be 3 years x 400k with an incentive based option for a 4th year. Also I think we’ll only give up a pick in 40s for him and now that it’s looking unlikely that we’ll get the WB 1st rounder we’ll look to trade pick 23 for 2021 2nd rounder.

JUH, Campbell, Jones, Walker, edwards, Gulden, Western and Downie. So 7 plus Downie would be 8 but gc get Davies for nothing.
There a few a prospects not that much further back either. Depends on how crazy the bidding gets. Or no one bids and everyone gets who they want cheaply, but I doubt it.

If people match with picks before ours it might not move back so far. A lot of wait and see at the minute

O
What are our terms though?
Our ever favorite, 'future fourth' (sorry, it's now a meme).

TBH, no idea, but the draft pick will be cheap and the contract will fit our pay structures.

I believe he has total control where he goes, unlike leagues like the NBA.
Yep end of the day he doesnt need to say anything. He is playing it correctly because i reckon he is still very open and preferring to stay. If he now comes out and says Dogs or whoever then it is potentially awkward if it doesnt happen. If he doesnt say anything then Pies cannot force him anywhere. All AFL trades need to be agreed to three ways. Team A, Team B, Player

I see what you mean. Let's see though, as some bids may not have an effect on our standing. E.g. if JUH gets bid on at three, that's one more player taken. But, as it stands, Bulldogs would lose pick 13, so the pick won't shift. The Swans ones will be the big killer for us, and it just depends where the others are called out.

Stayed away mostly for Dan and Scomo reasons (I hate them both) but if we get Hartigan given Frawley is retired (done happy as an interim) and Phillips he's only 24 and i reckon there is a fair argument he's Collingwood's best wingman in 2 years by a long way (and ours next year unless Day plays the other one) and b4 the hamstring was in the 18 GF for them. I'm very ok with that. He doesn't have a famous Collingwood Dad so Eddie doesn't like him bonus.

The Treloar dream leaves us in reality bouncing back next year... at the moment apart from TOB we don't have a KPF except for Gunston who is one of the best mid sized forwards I've seen at our club. But Lewis/Patton are slow as bitumen drying on a cold winters night so both would need a quantum leap.

Treloar will either tell us if Al has a plan or he's grasping at straws again. I like Treloar but the money is stupid, if they pay halfish I might change my mind, I can see that happening.

Anything else for a kid late I'm also ok with.
Fact check.

Bitumen sets much faster in cold conditions.

Takes longer to set on a hot summers day.

I do understand that you were stating the two mentioned were slow.

I don't think it makes much sense to do this half-arsed.We either trade in some talent, or get more picks. We look to be doing neither.
I have no doubt we're trying, but nothing seems to be working. If we take 4, 23 and Downie, it's an ok result but I'd like a bit more.
Stratts, Popeye, Smitty, Hendo & Chip out of a terrible team

Replaced by 3x 18yr olds & Hartigan.

That's a terrible result - we're getting worse at an increasing rate.

Poppy and Henderson weren't in our best 22, Stratton was lucky to stay in the team, Smith was injured for the last half of the season.

I swear people like to make situations worse than they are, old over the hill players > high quality young players :drunk:

Hang on, I read this forum.

At least 3 of those mentioned were apparently why we were terrible.

Surely we'll be better just by being without them.

AND MORE KID! KID GOODER!

Smith was best 22 - don't get crazy.

Stratton wasn't forced out - that is disturbing in itself because he wasn't good.
Hendo - debatable whether he'd have been selected, but for injury. Probably, not because he should've been - he went a year too long, but he probs would've still been selected if fit - it was that kind of year.

In your want to be clever - you missed the point of my post. It wasn't that we've lost 5 good players & we're replacing them with youngsters. The problem is that we lost 5 senior players, 3 of which weren't/shouldn't have been playing anyway & we're going to replace them with 3x youngsters.

It means that we're not only losing players but we have nobody to replace them, so bringing in 3x 18yr olds isn't fixing it. We need (at least) those 3x young guys, but also 2-4 other players or we get worse & the hole gets deeper.

Draft alone isn't the answer.
