Not sure allir isn't a lockdown hpd but does provide alot of run.
Pretty sure he wasn't getting a game for Sydney at the end of the yr.

Aliir would be a good fit for the kind of defence we seem to want to run. Could see him pushing Clurey back to depth and offering more in attack.

Alir Alir is a useful player and at 195cm he would provide the tall option down back. Not sure who he would replace down back but I doubt we would trade for him and not play him. If we draft Jones and he also plays in defence There is a real log jam in finding spots. Maybe we would be forced to look at off loading a defender?
Two years back no one would have contemplated trading Wingard so anything could happen.

Who is Myles Pfitzner?

An auctioneer who’s somehow got himself into the SEN stable probably due to racing input. Currently calling SANFL games.
Got himself into a spot of bother as a youngster at a south east pub but claimed his drink was spiked.

An 18-year-old Naracoorte man has dismissed claims his brush with death was the result of drug use and not drink spiking.
Miles Pfitzner was rushed to Adelaide from Robe after collapsing on Wednesday night.
His was one of four cases of drink spiking in Robe and Beachport last week.
While there have been claims that bad drugs are to blame, Mr Pfitzner says he has proof it was his beers that were spiked while drinking at the Robe hotel.
"I'm not a drug user, my urine and [toxicology] reads came back all that sort of stuff free, I hardly drink," he said.
Mr Pfitzner says people do not understand how horrific the drink spiking can be and says he is grateful to be alive.
"I think people need to be vigilant, I wasn't," he said.
"I suppose in a small country town you don't really think about the consequences too much of that sort stuff."

With free agency a rort for teams like Geelong and Richmond. The AFL will review the system and in a couple of years change it.

By this time Geelong and Richmond will be propped up with high list capital again, just like Geelong was able to do with father-sons, and the teams on the bottom of the ladder will again cyclically struggling with their lists.

What the AFL should do, is review the system, work out the advantage vs disadvantage that each club has faced through the whole free agency system, quantify it into draft points and tax all clubs with draft point penalties this year.

Then they should scrap free agency.

If they are worried clubs do not have currency and it restricts player movement - just allow trading of picks for 2 years ahead, even 3. That’d do the trick, much more equitably.

I'd walk into the room and ask for this year's first and second, next year's first and second and a mid range player (eg Nathan Broad). How bad do you want him?

Broad would say no and those picks aren’t more valuable than pick 3, and certainly not worth sending lynch to the draft over.

Your expectations are out of touch with reality

Clubs aren’t often in a position to force substantially better trades than the compo they receive.

Clurey >>>>>>>>> Alir

Alir couldn’t play clurey’s last line of defense one out role either. That would be heart attack material. He would need to play the role Jonas is currently playing

As far as depth though, sure why not. He’s fine for depth if he was happy to come here for that role.

I wouldn’t want to pay anything valuable for him though and I would prefer taking a punt on a young state leaguer to see if we unearth someone though.

You know players leave before their contract's up all the time right? That said, I doubt he leaves right now.

He did sign a contract extension only 6 weeks ago. Usually a good clue. ;)

Aliir's best, IMO, is far better than anything Clurey has shown in his career. Nevertheless agree that they play different roles. He's certainly not going to come here to be depth though, someone will give him a best 22 role.

All the same weaknesses as Dougal Howard but amplified.

Fun fact: Dugal finished third in Saints B&F
Off topic: Chad finished third in Hawthorn B&F

Clurey playing Clurey's defence one out role is heart attack material. You severely overrate Clurey.

Dear god no. You can just see a coach in his last year cluster****ing years of the list in order to get a finish high enough. If you allow trading that far forward I'd at least cap it as only 2nd or later round 2 years in advance and only 3rd or later 3 years in advance, so a coach / list manager can't wreck things that take half a decade to recover from in one trade period.
