Ruckman will generally take 5 years to mature. We have put the time into 2 Elite Junior Ruckman and now we have the best ruck stocks in the competition. We have a 21 year old (Hayes) a dual All Australian junior , a 22 yo(Ladhams) and Scotty Lycett who at age 28 is at his peak. By 2022 both Hayes and Ladhams will have gone past Lycett. Aliir is exactly the running intercept CHB that would get Hinkley hard. What he basically wanted Carlile, Clurey and Howard to be.

Put Aliir at CHB, Clurey as FB, Jonas as your third tall, Burton/Byrne-Jones/Houston as your half back flankers with one and then it’s a choice between Hartlett and McKenzie for the last spot (that will eventually be taken by Jones). Mobile, fluid and aggressive.
Aliir Aliir was really impressive against us this year and I would love to have him at the club - just what we need I reckon but NOT for any one of our ruckmen, repeat, NOT for any one of our ruckmen going the other way.

The ruck division may have had a poor preliminary final but were a massive reason we got into the position of being top all year and playing home finals. The Ladhams/Lycett duo causes headaches for every other side and to break them up now after one season of working together is an awful idea.

If we're actively looking to replace senior players, I think the names Hartlett, Rockliff and Motlop should be the first three in the conversation. If its improvement you're looking for then you won't be getting any from those 3.

I thought Hartlett was fantastic this year

Redden was in a league waaaay above the others mentioned. If only his body held up.
I was a big fan.

In the only game Renouf played in 2014 when Lobbe was injured, he did well against Sandilands who was still the best in the comp. He did his acl again 2-3 weeks later and was never seen again. Lots of almosts with injuries letting us down.

I don’t normally post in trade threads as I just don’t see enough of the various prospects coming through the system.
What I do see is this weird idea of trading out a young ruckman who appears to be maturing nicely for yet another not quite tall enough defender.
While I see the attraction of AA from Sydney I think we benefit more from keeping Ladhams.

Gallucci for nothing for a year if we have space isn’t ridiculous. Port would have looked at him at some point? Did his Achilles I’m not sure he’s even recovered from that yet? Doesn’t lack talent just consistency. Did like him in the draft.

Have you seen him play?

And to think they picked him over SPP!!!!
The four picks directly after Gallucci:

Todd Marshall (PA)
Jarrod Berry (Bris)
Sam Powell Pepper (PA)
Tim English (WB)

Wow wee did they screw that up!

I would rather get Simon Phillips back, than recruit Gallucci.
