Carn, Selwood was a man ready to plug and play, he wasn’t needing any development. Just needed to get the knee right!

Although Parfitt is becoming quite the player.

Still stand by Cockatoo would be a handy pick for a couple of years, genuine moneyball move.

God damn they've had good talent identification. Can add podsiadly to that list of mature age guys that have been previously overlooked that they've turned into good players.

No wonder they always seem so big, they just recruit men instead of boys in the draft.

Also Selwood was pretty much instantly elite so you can't say they technically "developed" him

Crouch to Geelong is only being said by Ralph because Dangerfield made a phone call and Crouch is on record saying he doesn't want a big city. We are still more than a fair chance to land him, nothing on that front has changed.

I think we should have a policy of rotating mature players through the list to find the next McKenzie but I’m not sure if shrinking list sizes will give us enough flexibility to do it.

One thing the club has done well in recent years is cycle though a heap of peripheral players instead of forever holding on to them.

Would've been happy to trade Lienert while his value was up TBH.

Agreed, although maybe Bonner is worth more so trade him instead. We will have Jones and Bergman to develop next year as flankers. You would imagine Mayes will be delisted, unless they want to move Houston back to the midfield, in which case he might be kept as depth.

Goddard has struggled with injury. I think he will be the type that goes away, gets his body right and gets picked up as a plug and play player from the VFL. Or kicks around country leagues and forgets about AFL. Don’t think he is worth a spot at this stage.

Why so worried about Patmore and Garner? I’m not sure they are near the top 30 players for port and both in positions that are replaceable.

If we somehow managed to pick Nik Cox/Zach Reid and Jones in the draft, Schofield as a rookie, crouch as a FA and Perryman via trade, it would be pants down lap around the table time.

Cox and Reid a will be in the 1st rd hence out of reach , Jones is going to take most of our 2nd rounds selections as he will be bid on early.
We will have to find a late draft smoky for the tall defender role, or find one from the state leagues or delisted players.

Taj will go late or rookie.

with our picks going down in value (due to our deficit & all the possible free agency compensations) ...

if we dont Jones could cost us all 3 of 2nd round draft picks (especially if some one with a top 10 draft pick bids on him)

that will then leave us with with 2 x 3rd round draft picks prior to Schofield

we cant use any of our 2021 draft picks (especially with Jase Burgoyne & co that could come in)

and after that we still want GWS's - Perryman .. so i am not sure how we will get him with 1 x 3rd round draft pick
