AFLW 2024 - Round 10 - Chat, game threads, injury lists, team lineups and more.
100% they heard the 5AA interview and pulled the offer. I'm guessing Tredrea got told to announce it during the news
Seems incredibly unlike Tredrea to announce that we're no longer in the race if it's not true
Lienert signed on for next season i thought I read somewhereWe need to think about the future if you want to know what the club is thinking:
2020 players out of contract
Boyd Woodcock
Brad Ebert
Cameron Sutcliffe
Jake Patmore
Jarrod Lienert
Martin Fredrick
Sam Mayes
Trent Burgoyne
2021 players out of contract
Hamish Hartlett
Robbie Gray
Steven Motlop
Tom Rockliff
Riley Bonner
Kane Farrell
Sam Hayes
Miles Bergman
Mitch Georgiades
Dylan Williams
Jackson Mead
Joel Garner
Port definitely has a plan with their list management of younger players. The standard match payment is $5k, but for players that have yet to debut it's $4k (unless they've played more than 5 games in the previous season...as soon as they've played 5 games they are considered a senior player by the AFL).
Since you're allowed to bank salary cap savings over the previous three years, that means that over the journey we have added $300k just through this policy alone. Expect Bergman, Williams and Mead to get at least 4 games each next year, while Georgiades will find it harder to get games, to keep this cycle ticking over. Jones and Schofield won't play until 2022.
We've got the cash to get more than just Crouch.
In fairness he’s not exactly a highlights player. I’m sure Rocky’s highlights package over the last few months also isn’t exciting.I watched the showdown from earlier this yr and granted we smashed them but brad was pathetic.
Also watched his highlights from 2019 his BaF yr still not alot to get excited about and add to this he only plays 50 per cent of games .
Also likes the nose beers so wouldn't be getting into a bidding war.
It does feel like we are up to something. As you said we’ve been hearing about salary cap space for a while and you’d imagine that’s true given we’ve traded out Wingard, Polec and Howard. Then we seemingly have no interest in Fantasia who we were keen on last year, didn’t put up much fight for Hately, and are only prepared to low ball Crouch.Geez i hope we're still in the race. We've heard we have cap to spend for years now on a big fish. Crouch may not be the gigantic fish we'd love, but he'd be a solid get that fits our list profile and need perfectly. We must be trying to bring him in and the only reason we should be pulling out must be because something else is in the pipeline.
you wouldnt want to live in Victoria atthe moment where you cant go 5 km from your home, would you accept any amount of money to live in a communist state? it would have to be a lotSix clubs but really zero clubs.
He picked the worst time ever to get sprung with adult Wizz Fizz. I doubt any of the clubs are offering anything meaningful over what Port had on the table. I'd wager that Port's offer would still work out better once cost of living is factored in.
I'm not completely convinced that full rebuild is always the best way to go unless its like Hawthorn and you get freebies that take you up the ladder fast.
For every successful rebuild there is a Carlton or Gold Coast.
Right on. This is stress free eating popcorn.gif o'clock. Capable hands are looking after this one.Im completely content to just wait and see. Doesn't really feel like a big deal either way and we know this is one area the club excels.
Tredder’s doesn’t write the news, he just reads it. It’s posturing from all involved. Player and manager want more, club won’t budge so they try and play it out in the media until a middle ground is settled.

Add to that Georgiades, Jones, Bergman, Williams and Mead are all top draft picks that could quite easily force themselves into our best 22 next year. If we are chasing someone it probably needs to be an A grader to be worth while.
Jeremy Cameron?
Could we be eyeing a big free agent next year?It does feel like we are up to something. You'd better pray Smithy doesn't read this.
