carlton reportedly tried to split the pick, then offered it asking for a 2nd rounder coming back.

The pick 48 they settled for is a fairly nothing pick in this draft.

That pick 8 was offered directly to Dodo, so that has always been there if they wanted it, but they wanted more. Carlton also wanted a return pick which they have opted to accept at 48. You might think its a nothing pick, but it obviously has some value to them.

Whilst shorter quarters I think helped us this year and (with more games in a season) would be happy for them to continue next year, if they don't I look forward to Geelong crashing and burning late in quarters/games.

Youre literally proving my point. That’s just a list manager saying exactly what every other list manager has ever said. That list managers watch home state players and try to get them back. I have actually listened to that interview too by the way. Cripps was very clear and concise as to what he meant.

Depends how many picks are added for bids and eliminated by using them to match the bid.
So using Macca19's mock draft he posted in page 2 of the Bidding on Lachie Jones thread at post #27 and Lore's up to date picks spreadsheet on the Draft and Trading board. (yes she has typed Aliir incorrectly against Richmond and not Port but the picks are accurate).




This is a guude/guess without picking up the generated pick from surplus points and all the adjusted positions.

Pick 2 - Ugle-Hagan WB eliminate 14, 41 and 54
Pick 7 - Campbell Syd eliminate 25, 58 and 62
Pick 8 - Jones..... Port eliminate 29, 35 and 47
Pick 14 - McInnes Coll have to use 16
Pick 17 - Edwards Adel eliminate 22
Pick 20 - Davies GC eliminate 27
Pick 24 - Downie Haw have to use 24
Pick 26 - Walker Freo eliminate 32
Pick 27 - Gulden Syd have to go into deficit
Pick 29 - Borlase Adel have to eliminate 40
Pick 32 - Western Freo eliminate 55
Pick 36 - Brand... Ess eliminate 45

Last year clubs could trade picks up to 5 days before the National draft, then during the draft.

I don't think the AFL has confirmed the pick-only trade dates this year.

We were never getting Allir without them getting Hickey. The other day I expected this to be a 3 club trade deal, but we got away with only having to give up 1 pick and not a series of minor picks across the 3 clubs. But I forgot about the Buddy salary cap pressure issue, so we got away with a straight forward deal.

Bombers brought in Saad for a 2018 second round pick (35), and traded him for the 2020 pick 8 (becomes pick 11-12) 3 years later.

While the first round of 2018 was strong the second seems to drop off quite a bit. Saad did pick up a couple back to back top 5 finishes in Essendon's B&F but even so that's some decent trading.

Busllshit. Most clubs have between 6-9 players traded in to the club from elsewhere in their best 22.

Look at us - Dixon, Rockliff, Motlop, Burton, Mckenzie, Lycett and Ebert all played in the PF.

And Wells is smart at finding mature aged players from state leagues or guys like Tom Stewart who was plyaing in a Geelong metro league, who have been ignored by all clubs.
