Pretty sure the Eagles would take local boy Mathew Johnson over Josh Goater at 10. He's exactly what the Eagles need to begin to replenish their midfield. Will be interesting to see if Goater is still there at our second pick.

Without a shadow of a doubt ,the goater leak is rubbish from WA to make Goater go higher allowing WA clubs more access to the highly rated WA kids.

I lied last night, immediately after saying I'll wait a while I went and made this top 20, terribly sorry for the lying.
This is what I've got so far, but i'm trying to hunt down footage of both the country v metro games because it feels really light on for Victorians as you'd expect. I'm not sure this is too different to anyone else, happy to answer questions as usual. What I will say is there was a fair I rotated through 18-20 as well, I really heavily considered guys like; Paul Pascu, Adam D'Aloia, Jed Hagan, Jonti Schuback, Mitchell Rowe, Luke Teal, Matthew Jefferson, Cody Harrington, Jack Cleaver, Darcy Jones and Jaiden Magor, so I'm expecting that my 20 will change a bit before Round 1 next year as I watch some more over the summer (more an 'if' I watch some more)

I'm not confident enough yet to call this a 'super draft' like some people are, but it obviously looks promising when there's that many talls in a top 20 and plenty more that have shown promise and would appear in some other top 20's, looks like 200cm+ forwards are going to become far more common soon enough.

*Not where I think they'll go but how I rate them heading in, my rankings are a combination of ceiling + likelihood to be long term best 22 players here

Looking at these comments from PM Bangers it certainly sounds like a crap draft in 2022 doesn't it !!. No offence but I think I will take his judgment over yours.

Exactly, at face value, there are concerns with 2022

Please explain, those comments look pretty positive to me and it sounds like some are even calling it a super draft although that might be over the top. However the 2022 draft certainly doesn't look barren like you were trying to portray. It certainly sounds as good if not better than 2021 unless you have got some information that proves otherwise ?

interesting call…

id be pretty stoked if both Bazzo and Knevitt were available at 26,27,28
…but picking Bazzo will depend on who we pick/ who is available at 7 & 15

if Gibcus is there at 7 …id be more than fine with that
I think if we can’t trade up to get the mid we want we will take Gibcus

I doubt that he'll get to our pick 17, one of the reasons I'd love us to get Essendon or StKilda's 1st round pick would be to get him
Eagles may still be favouring him with their 1st though so Essendon's may not be enough anyway
Though even if we still missed him, someone like NWM would be another in this range who I think would be a great fit for us as well were we to get either of those two picks
Interesting.. was reading this reason for trading up about WC for Goater a few pages back. So I'll just make the same comment. If they take Johnson, then Goater pushes back, if Bummers and WC take them both, then another quality kid pushes back.

As you can see, I am not for trading up to chase one particular kid.

2021 looks better based on the listing compared to 2022 without going into any depth, just face value

Without looking at any vision, 2021 looks better than 2022 if one knows what to look for

Can't see Edwards playing on a wing. You reckon Ward and/or Sinn or any other drafted mid for that matter would come in ahead of RCD?
Absolutely. RCD is a bust.

You are making as much sense as usual, you certainly are a unique character who can say a lot without saying anything of substance. Good luck to you.

Ranked #1 in all the rising stars per TOG. Not super confident but I have a feeling he may flourish when given the extra responsibility next year and with another pre season.
I hope I’m wrong but nothing this guy has done impressed me enough that I think he’ll be a good footballer. I just see him as another list cloggers that will need to be cleaned out next year.

I see really good glimpses. What I reckon he needs to do to really improve in 2022 is 1) fitness - der. Repeat efforts and ability to run out the game just aren't up to scratch. If he can't get that going then he's toast. And 2) is timing. By that I mean he hits contests just a fraction off. Compare to Cotch (unfair, but why not compare him to the best) and he is just a fraction out in when he hits the contest. If he can get the pace/timing of AFL then he'll get that ball, smash that man much more often. Some players take 50 games to get it. He probably doesn't have that luxury.

Right now I see RCD as a nearly AFL player. He has the tools to be good, but is only nearly there. And that ain't good enough. But he hits at so much speed, has clean hands and good skills. So if he gets his sh*t together he'll be a rally good player. That does nto always happen. But I have enough faith in him I reckon he's better than 50:50 to step up.

agree ..give RCD a competitive season…has hardly played any semblance of competition in 2 years…give the lad a break

This guy's explosiveness is exactly what you want from a modern-day tall midfielder IMO. His kicking sometimes looks suspect but that didn't stop Fyfe, Bontempelli, Parish, Clayton Oliver, and even Dangerfield from making it as one of the top mids in the competition.

Really want him at the club. Just hope he lasts until our pick 15 if we choose to take someone else at pick 7.
