Wondering if the club still has eyes for Eamon Wilkinson. Not an obvious need but someone we were apparently looking at in the mid-season draft.

From what little I saw of him (usual highlights clips) I really rated Wilmot. Good mongrel and a little Dusty like,

After watching the draft video yesterday, I now hold the same view even stronger. Was the highlight of the evening for me by far.

I reckon you blokes have an absolute steal here.

Feel free to not answer this but did the club also see Ely as a perfect fit in his draft year? Or do you sense there's a different feeling around our draftees this year?
Not knocking the Ely pick as there weren't many options still available when we selected him but maybe he wasn't as high on their list as Wilmot and Lohman seemed to be this year.
They were happy with him but I don't recall there being discussion of his fit, more potential and development instead.

My biggest wish for tonight is that Hammelmann gets drafted by someone. I have developed a kind of weird fascination with the idea of him being drafted again. I'm not sure what more he could have done to get a second chance. His record is very impressive at the lower levels.

Here’s a tip guy’s.

Don’t engage jackess in conversation.

I can't ....... he's ignored.

I gave him 45,546 chances .................... but enough was enough.

How are people privy to the rankings of Kai and Darcy for our draft board, and are you able to shed much more light on where others were ranked inside the first 15?

May be the 15th player is still undrafted, who knows.
It'll come out by tomorrow I think.

I'm not going to speak for everyone, but personally, I'm not judging the player. I think our recruiters have a good track record there and I'll be happy to see him pull on the jumper. If they think he's the player for us - great. I'm on board.

But I am judging our positioning. If it turns out 4 other clubs were looking at him in the early second, then fair enough. Our pick trading hasn't been great, and we don't maximise our draft capital well. Last year we stuffed the positioning with a bid right before our pick making our trades poor. In hindsight the Melbourne first rounder worked out badly, but at the time, I was satisfied with it. The various whispers and links seem to say that Kai has fans mid 2nd or 3rd round. Could we have traded back 10 or 15 picks? Bulldogs traded 23 for 32+34. Last pick of the first round with a few well-liked players on the board. No one willing to trade mid-2nd and a future 3rd to move up?
Well, I suppose I'd better issue a retraction. Sounds like a few other clubs were interested, and trading down probably wasn't an option. Good work by the club.

Not what I expected based on the responses of Twomey and co at the time, but happy to be wrong.

I'm thinking tall for 41 and I'm also thinking Josh Rentsch building more GWV Rebel connections for us.

Draft function at the Gabba last night, we got some good insights into where our club rated players, if you go back a fair few pages you can have a read, briztoon was there too. Fagan, Daly, Swann stuck there head in for a while as well, Dom Fay and Fish were there for the whole function.

Yep, that was mentioned a couple of times last night, if he was born 21 minutes later he would have been in next years draft, also they didn't say top 10 next year, the recruiter said their view was top 2-3.
How many half backs go that high? McGrath is the only one I can think of and he had a lot of potential to move into midfield.

Oh and between yourself and briztoon, do you know if Alleer and Chesser were above Wilmot on our board?

briztoon has a better memory than me for this but I'm pretty sure the order was >
11- Wilmot.
12- Sinn.
13- Chesser
14- Lohmann.

IIRC Alleer didn't get a mention in the top 20 which is all we were told.

So that might mean that we had a talent priority list, and all the players we had on that list were taken.

Left a jumble of equally likely players so we move onto a pick a position player tactic.

Makes sense to me.
That comment was in relation to who we will take with our next pick. There are still players on our talent board, I'm pretty sure.

The complete melts on here if none of those half-backs (as mentioned above) were available and we chose Lohmann with our first pick at 16 instead last night, would have caused our club forum on here to go absolutely nuclear at the club, especially for users like Jackess ;)
