Richmond can't win games unless it's at the MCG... So need to wait for the fixture to come out to ensure we get as much AFL love as possible.

Too early to be doing this really, probably need to wait until at least the end of trade/FA.

That said, in no particular order;

Smokey for the 8;
Carlton.

Hard to go past North for the spoon, maybe Adelaide again ?

So when North don’t win the spoon, what will be your excuses?

Not sure anyone will care enough to make any excuses

1. Geelong - great H&A team topping up for another go around
2. West Coast - if we have to hub I reserve the right to drop them
3. Richmond - not going anywhere should remain hungry
4. Brisbane - another proven H&A team, finals is their deficiency
5. Port Adelaide - I don’t trust the team as a whole or the coach, but it’s impossible to argue against their young core improving
6. St Kilda - steady pick
7. Sydney - mild surprise pick but they’ve done a stealth refresh if not a total rebuild
8. Melbourne - basing this on their player for player talent alone rather than coaching or collective spirit

9. Western Bulldogs - Beveridge grace period to be tested further with more inconsistency
10. Carlton - middle of the road inconsistent team
11. Fremantle - can’t imagine their forward line is potent enough to deliver finals
12. Collingwood - too many spotfires off field and gaps on field.
13. GWS - Leon sacked mid year
14. Essendon - too many mature veterans or players in their prime years to be a total write-off
15. Gold Coast - Dew is not the answer as coach. Lack of scrutiny and absence of a fan base to call for his head will be an issue
16. Hawthorn - starting a rebuild arc
17. Adelaide - continuing a rebuild arc
18. North Melbourne - directionless

Genuinely curious how many times the exact same Top 4 has happened two years in a row. I expect it's never happened, and I doubt the exact same Top 8 has ever happened either.

So when North don’t win the spoon, what will be your excuses?
Some other team played shitter than North. My guess is that will be Hawthorn.

The same top 4 happened in 2009/10. Prior to finals it was:

2009: Saints, Cats, Doggies, Pies
2010: Pies, Cats, Saints, Doggies

All 4 made the prelims.

Same top 8 two years in a row has never happened.

2013/2014 pre finals as well had the same top 4 (Sydney/Hawthorn/Geelong/Freo), admittedly Freo and Geelong went out in straight sets in 2014
