Both R14 Bye ....add Gawn, Grundy, Lloyd, Laird, and R14 could be a difficult round
True but it's the last of the byes so in theory you're full premo or close by then, so should be fielding 18+ players.

A lot easier to deal with than if it were R12.

Also most teams will include most of the those players, they won't be POD's so it doesn't matter as much.

Im happy to sacrifice a couple hundred points in a bye round to get the best players. I don't look at the bye rounds, I find it ends up sorting itself out.

You only care about league? Bye rounds are the best time to make an extra couple hundred points if overall's your drug.

Good point, that's probably why I tank 10000 spots in bye rounds

Pretty happy to run with this setup. I see value in the tier of midfielders just below the out and out guns which is why im selecting all of Walsh, Cripps, Rowell and Simpkin. I'll be happy if 3 of 4 increase their average by 10-15+ points. I'm not completely set on Neale but i do want a decent M1 for some 'stability' and hopefully can lock in a 120+ average. Thus, I'll probably look at Oliver or Steele if not Neale. I'm bullish on Hately and Rowell so they wont change assuming they are fit for round 1 (touch wood). Cripps is probably the one to go if i decide i need more cash for elsewhere or if i find the cash he may be upgraded.

True, but the last bye round is also the best one to stack before hand, then focus on trading in players from the earlier two once their bye has passed.

Like Maybe Tomorrow said, it would be a different story if they had the round 12 bye.

Lol I’m not dismissing data at all. I’m just saying Oliver has done the same thing for 4 years, nothing changed whatsoever last year apart from scaling which helped to buff up his scoring. If you’re expecting Oliver to improve upon 30 touches with 18 handballs, 6 tackles and amazing contested numbers then go for it. He’s a career 110-114 guy and that’s where he’ll settle again this year. If anything, at that level of disposal, I’d argue he has room to decline unless he adds more strings to his bow. Realistically with his numbers he should be scoring around the 125+ mark but lots of things stop him from doing that. He’s a deplorable field kick, is not damaging whatsoever around goals and is way too handball happy.
I never said they were factual, but Petracca is as good as anyone I’ve ever seen playing in the middle, and he’s only just new at the role. You can argue all you want but 17 shortened games as an excuse is also BS as Petracca was never given the opportunity to play the role that Goodwin finally allowed him to as of last year, and I don’t think anyone expected the level of play that we saw. There is absolutely no reason for his game to go backwards. Your Brayshaw comparison was ridiculous also, him and Truck are the furthest apart from each other possible. One is a ball of muscle whilst the other looks like a colts level player with a helmet on and body to go with it.
I would think that Petracca is an upgrade target, or a 'watch n see' type. He still has endurance issues which were on show even with shortened quarters last year, ie; a lot of his scoring was done in the 1st half.
With extended quarters and probably more significantly, reduced rotations, I'm not convinced that he can be as impactful as he was last year. Add in scaling and I'm even more wary. FWIW If I'm tossing up between 2 players then I'm factoring in who has the best tank.

I have something similar with Walsh, Rowell and Taranto, along with Neale, Adams and Dusty. What I'm struggling with is more strategy based, as in, when I have to upgrade I'll be upgrading to 4 x $650k players (after moving Dusty forward) That's a lot of readdies to find

I reckon this is unrealistic. If you trade in 4 players @ 650K+ you will never finish your team. I've noticed quite a few coaches chasing the fast starting premo (Neale the last two years) and trading in at a huge price. The same coaches then spend the last few rounds complaining about incomplete teams and running out of trades :moustache:

You would need at least 4 rookies that get to 400K quickly, and any rookies that do that are difficult to trade out as most coaches try to get the low scorers off field first, so naturally you keep the high scoring rookies longer.

IMO you can assume 1 maybe 2 upgrades to 600k+ and the rest has to be value, hence the importance of picking the right under-priced premo's to start with.

Personally I'm not likely to start Grundy and Neale, and accept that I will probably not get both in unless they drop a lot (in which case they will be in every team)

A bit wrong from me :$ I'll need 3 upgrades in the mids.

Yes, I do think it's unrealistic too, but filling a team with sub optimum premos will leave me amongst the pack. Obviously this is a dilemma that all coaches face

Anyone else think Jack Steele has peaked and wont keep his starting price? I think he is one player that benefitted from inflated scoring. Having said that he is my M2. Lol.

Cautious now that Crouch is there.

I'm a little reluctant with Simpkin. I really rate him, but it'll depend how North use him, and what kind of attention he gets from opposition. Easily North's most damaging player when on. Had to go and play more of an inside role last year with Cunnington out, but might not have the same involvement around the stoppages - although he can kill it around the coalface.

Rowell is a must-have, but everyone's jumping on him anyway, right?

I've been scarred by not having Neale in the past, but he's the only ultra-premo who I have zero question marks over. Macrae, Steele, Petracca etc I can see reasons they wont dominate.

Not completely sold on Hately, but can see the logic and could be genuine breakout contender. His big endurance base is a huge plus, and I remember reading he hadn't even attended a centre bounce at GWS. Definitely one to watch over the pre-season.

The Walsh selection is pretty sound - would expect 105+ average, and is another who will dominate with the longer quarters coming into effect.
