Yeah Bulldogs won't beat them.

Bruce + Weightman + a fit Bont yes. As it is, no.
Yeah I don't think the dogs can win.

But there is a method to beat Port. We applied the pressure in the second Showdown.

Unfortunately Alir ran rampant against Hberg and Tilthy.

And Fog didn't get enough of it against Jonas.

I would be tempted to play Keath forward on Aliir and play Schache back.
Bulldogs may need to play both in defence with Port's tall forward line... or is Cordy available again?

Aliir only needs to run and cover ground on Saturday night and he will have Bont in deep trouble given his knee issue to keep up and go with him all over the ground.

They do however need someone to go with Aliir though all the time and make him accountable.

I suspect Bont may play out of the goal square.

What the Dogs must do when going forward is that they must avoid any path that has Aliir involved in the play. The Cats literally did this in Week 1 and got smashed by Aliir.

they need fast movement and honour leads by kicking to the advantage of the leading player. Slow movement allows aliir to slowly crawl back and the ground becomes narrower and narrower. Kicking long following slow movement forward is the killer. Dogs won't fall into that trap.

they've 2 more wins than us the last 2 years. That said, I don't mind extra footy dept cap and TPP relief for designated UFAs, ie Talia and Lynch.
Fully supportive of Gold Coast getting extra Footy Dept Expenditure $$$$ .....but no extra $$ for players or any compensation picks

Fix the off field first ...improve the facilities ....BRIS proved that's the way to hold players & improve your footy performances

... or if not going to properly fix GC, may as well shut them down & bring in Tasmania.

Think the hole is too deep now ....AFL's spent too much money & the AFL TV rights is still worth more, or will be, with Gold Coast in, over Tassie

TV rights make little difference between GC & Tassie.

Tassie would actually get a decent crowd too as they are a football state.

GC are a sunk cost

For me the major issue for Tassie is that they would have to be given their state as recruiting zone exclusively. At the very least for the first few years.

They will really struggle to retain players from outside Tassie IMO.

I do agree Footy in Tassie will do well.

Cats 'precision' creep forward method and Nicks hard on for consistent deep entries plays right into Aliir's hands. Dogs don't play either of those ways.

Dogs have 1 very good forward target and very little else.

Port should be able to deal with them comfortably.

Dogs have a game plan and players needed to beat Port.
Geelong were slow and bombed to their forward line a lot. Alir had a feast.
Run the ball in is the secret. Doggies can do that better than almost any team.
Looking forward to a great game.

Think Powa will have trouble with the Dogs
Port deserve to start as favourites. Good side. Good form. Home track. Full list etc...
Doggies have been good other than the last few rounds. Staggering to the line somewhat but they were good last weekend against Brisbane.
I hope they take it right up to Port.

I know that the official line is GC over Tassie means more TV revenue but I am super skeptical on that point. Does anyone really think that tv audiences on the GC dramatically rose after their introduction into the league? I know that was supposed to happen but I’d wager that audience numbers in the region barely changed post the Suns… if anyone has data to prove otherwise I’d love to see it.

I honestly don’t know why the Suns are a thing. So few people care… still… after a decade. Surely the only reason they’re propped up is that the current administration would hate to admit that they made a monumental error in the Suns formation and that they have therefore wasted millions of dollars on the venture.

Whats with the ban hammer tonight?
Hate it when I miss that sh*t.
Politics thread has been getting willing with vax stuff but surely thats not it?

sanders and cleanhands. Perhaps the gloves came off during a standard 'sure Alex', 'whatever chicken man' exchange. And Doedee courage is another alias.
