Nice summary from Barrett here:

The second of those games, Saturday night's preliminary final loss to the Bulldogs, was a disaster, a full-blown choke and an embarrassment. There was simply not one excuse for the events which unfolded, and how this plays out in the next few weeks in a series of reviews is going to make for very interesting storylines, for the non-presence of so many big-name players could not have been predicted.
Coach Ken Hinkley's nine seasons in charge has seen three preliminary finals exits. The first two, 2014 and 2020, were by a kick, Saturday night's by 71 points.
Port Adelaide exists to win premierships. It hasn't done so since 2004. It appeared beautifully poised for the past month to at least make the 2021 Grand Final, but now must face internal and external doubt for another 12 months.

Good read, I liked it so much, I borrowed this gif to share.

flashcrow I know you made a great gif of Port dropping the 2020 Premiership Cup, would be nice to add 2021 version. So we relive the memories over summer and into the 2022 season when the neighbours finally reappear on here.

Maybe Gray kicking out of bounds on the full in the first? I mean thats when the game was absolutely dead and gone by that stage.

More like the first ten seconds when the Dogs ran off with it.

Game was lost actually when Koch got ahead of himself trying to get into Perth for the Grand Final.
Caro raised this last night. Koch + Rockliff on radio on Saturday talking about how they were gonna win + that stupid charter plane their c grader former players booked. They treated the prelim like a training run for the real thing and got caught out. Often hear Prelims are harder than GFs and Port didn’t pay any respect to their opponents or the occasion at all.

Carlton should chase Hinkley, I think he'll be looking for an out and he knows how to get a team into the finals (Just not play in them)
While I hate Carlton, my hatred for Port is on another level.

I want Ken to stay at Port for as long as possible.

Carlton is a graveyard for coaches. Ken is smart enough to know he has a job for life at PA. Teague should have been given another year. Off the back of a good intro year, followed by poor year at least they should have given him a chance to follow up. Look at what Goodwin has achieved after a bad year .

If you can point me in the direction of the vision I will have a try. It might take a fair while though.

I thought to myself whats more important your post or work. lol :D

28.43 on the video which translates to 2.23 mins remaining on the clock.

Wobbie Gray with a shot on goal that goes out of bounds.

Check this out, masks not on properly at least 5 people in this shot not even wearing them! Should all be fined.

That lady in the front looks like she was praying for a Robbie Gray goal as I know when that pic was taken lol.

Wobbie went out of bounds on the full instead. The guy in the far right on the bottom, looks like he already had given up watching the game.

Does Hartlett get another gig anywhere? Does any other team currently have a deficiency in the 'bang on a drum like an orangutan with no sense of rhythm after beating the bottom team' area?

Yeah, West Adelaide, the guy is cooked and was never that good to begin with.

Best thing about the crowd behind is like 3/4 of them are watching through their phones instead of watching what's happening in front of them. Which hopefully means they all now have 1st person visionary evidence of their Grand Final hopes going up in smoke.

I still maintain port don't need excuses. Port is simply not good enough.

Bullshit fixture = top 2.

Were crap all year against any genuine good side.

Played a geriatric downward-spiralling Geelong in the first final, unsurprisingly belted them, started the ad nauseam chest puffing.

Drank their bathwater.

Played a decent team in the prelim.

Expected train wreck was always on the cards.
